this is from a few weeks ago, but i bought a super cheap "punky" black denim jacket for protesting in (since im trying to stay out of my usual clothes) and it was intentionally distressed. which made it... the perfect place to start learning to darn!

so i did a little rainbow guy for my first ever attempt - turned out okay but i have literally never embroidered/darned in my life so this was new

I had just... kinda stopped spinning with pandemic stress, but I've picked it back up again lately. Finishing off some WIPs I had lingering, then I picked up one of the very special luxury treat braids I bought months ago with one of my first paychecks and blew through almost the whole process in a day. It was a really good feeling, and a really pretty spin <3

The finished yarn as I measured and skeined it today:

I waited forever to buy from these dyers (Inglenook Fibers) because they're on the pricey side and also the level of insane popular that you need to set an alarm for an announced shop update and work fast or the shop is emptied again almost immediately. But it was SO WORTH IT. I still have a second braid on hand in a colorway I loved even more that I'm saving for a rainy day of the soul. They are literally the best dyers I've ever seen and I am in awe that I get to play with their work.

thank you! i can always use advice though if anyone has some. i lost some of the tension and found it hard to weave consistently bc i have hand tremors—if anyone has tips i would love them, i’d really enjoy darning more

i've found it can be easier to get a nice tight weave if you go over 2 under 2, especially if you're working with thinner threads! darning is really fun, it adds so much personality even if you mess it up a little

they are so cute!! normally I don’t get excited about the cute plushies genre of object but look at them!!!! my sibling made the design too, though I think they used bits of existing patterns.

@NorthernRiver and I are brainstorming about making reusable cloth pads for boxer briefs! I've gone down a small rabbit hole about belted reusable pads, meanwhile they are more thinking about like magnet options. Haven't really found any belted patterns that actually exist anymore, but there are enough pics that i figure I could try it out.

If anyone has Thoughts on how to make pads work with boxer briefs that don't actually involve any alterations to the underwear, please let me know! (I know about Aisle/Lunapads' period boxers, I have a pair, but I think River is not really looking at buying/directing people to buy new underwear or sew things into their existing pairs)
