I don´t care much if this topic ends up being three people, we can convert more.
Link to comic for the curious
I personally have a soft spot for the jägermonsters in GG, because undying loyalty is thing that gets me on a gut level. Also because they´re cute.
Currently working on a General Gkika cosplay. (Btw how do you pronounce her name?)
Also heres my GG tag with my drawings of various jägerkin.

Here's one! I love the comic, although I have a bit of a problem with the art - it's not really in my taste - but I adore the storyline.

I'm a European History dork, and I feel the comic could be translated to the many different German dialects that exist. I keep on hearing the Jägers talk in a heavy lower-Bavarian dialect, while I feel like the baron should be from the Rhineland. Agatha's mother is totally Viennese in my head for some reason, just like Gilgamesh. Perhaps even a bit of Prague in there. I'm probably completely wrong in my placements canon-wise, but I can't help but situate the comic in the area around Switzerland, Austria and Southern Germany.

I absolutely adore the political intrigue and I wish I could explore it more. The scheming of the Jägers and their own agenda concerning the Heterodyne was really fascinating, sure, they're loyal as hell, but I also feel like there's an underlying expectation of the Heterodyne that they might want to push there... They're a hell of a lot more subtle than the other characters give them crdit for! Also I want to see Dimo's friends again! I like the pretty one (can't remember his name, I'm terrible that way) and his attitude the best, but Dimo is far more subtler and smarter than the lot of them. I also wish there was more about the royalty. Sure, there's the storm king, but what about the other royals and their strict 'no resurrection' rules? I just love how everybody is scheming and plotting against each other and I'm really curious about how the Paris plotline will go. I hope it won't be too much a moulin Rouge thing, though! Paris was a pretty hot mess at the time the comic takes place and I'd like to know if they'll feature that in there. :)

    Eeeeeeee *pant pant*

I believe Mechanicsburg is canonically in Transilvania actually, as is Wulfenbach. And the pretty one is Maxim, who is indeed pretty.
I personally wish they could combine the art of the current comic with the colouring of the beginning, although at least the current colouring isn´t quite as psychedelic as it was during the circus arc.

I hope someone throws something heavy on Martellus, and soon. Also I thought Tarveks relatives were meant to be fairly representative of royalty?

Were they? I thought Tarvek's relatives were very insistent on how they were so much better and different from all the rest of royalty, allthough that might be representative of all of them! :D I just wish I knew more of the family of that really snooty princess in the very beginning who helped Agatha escape and wasn't a spark, just royalty. I wanted to know how that plotline would go when the Baron resurrected her.

Mechanicsburg in Transylvannia? It makes sense in a way, but it doesn't feel Romanian enough to me... But that may just be me. There's definitely a parallel with the Austro-Hungarian empire, but the characters feel a little too Central/Northern to me for that. Especially the Jägers! The Baron is a better fit for a Wallachian Prince, and I made a mistake with Gil - he looks to me more like from the Rhineland than Vienna, but maybe apart from Paris he also had some education in Germany? After all, castle Wulfenbach can go anywhere. :)

Hehe, Martellus is the type of dick I love to hate. Honestly I find he is a much better candidate for the storm king (if you're looking from the perspective of Tarvek's family) than Tarvek - ambitious as fuck, not afraid to wield a heavy hammer for every nail. But Tarvek is of course the better ally to Agatha than Martellus. (Please tell me if I'm doing this right, I am terrible with names!)

And when will Gil manage to get his damn father out of his head?? D: I feel so sorry for him. :(

^Ok so the wiki does situate Mechanicsburg in eastern europe, but not transilvania. (I think. My geography sucks). Also you gotta remember this is written by a pair of americans, they might mix bits of Europe up. Hints that at least Wulfenbach might be romanian is that the barons forced peace is called the Pax Transilvania. And well, Mechanicsburg doesn´t feel very german to me, but I´d put Beetleburg in Germany.

Also I forgot to say: your Gkika cosplay in that photograph looks really nice! Gkika is awesome, and no, I don't know how to pronounce her name either. I liked the idea of a jäger-themed bar/brothel(?) And the damn hat joke was hilarious.

    'Hoy! Nice hat!'
    'Grumble grumble'

Sibiu (Hermannstadt) is totally Transsylvania (aka Siebenbürgen). I've got family from there ::D
So I kinda imagine the Jägers speaking similarily to the dialect my dad's family speaks.

Although the castle on the hill could also point to Sighisoara / Schässburg. (i have thrown gg at my dad's head to read, my guess is that if he recognizes either schässburg or hermannstadt in mechanicsburg, i'll know)
(just got some info, Sibiu is flat, while Sighisoara has that castle hill, and more mountains around it)
(one last comment re: transsylvania and romania - the transsylvanian saxons are vocally not romanian, and the term wulfenbach literally means "wolf stream" in german - considering they were mechanicsburg's neighbours before the city fell iirc, they could be equavalent to one of the other six cities)

    characters!
i am in love with most of the female characters, because damn. competent, dangerous, multilayered, and gorgeous.
one of the things i love so much is, yeah, agatha is The Heterodyne and she's gonna get her work done, but she also has that "i'm going to wear the prettiest dress and dance with all the boys" and.... so many Strong Female Characters ditch that last part because eww girl stuff and you can only be strong while not being girly and that's just such bullshit, and i'm really glad that's not the case here.

and everyone has their own agendas and plots running, and hhhh
    politics done right

and even if some people are basically hating each other's guts, point them at a problem and suddenly they'll work together because a) shit needs done, and b) this is really interesting lemme have a shot at it

heh. i wonder if agatha ever comes around to resuming and finishing her higher education.

Oh I completely forgot that Agatha was still a student!

YES. It totally is politics done right. Even when countries are bitterly at war with each other, they still recognise shared problems and make shaky alliances.

Can I also say that I totally love the idea of that monastery of train monks? That trains pick up stray passengers is such a genius idea, and that the monastery is just a huge depot. I was really mad at that stupid monster completely ruining their shit, because trains! Monks in trains!

Who's a fan of Bangladesh Dupree? I LOVE her. I kind of get a little tired of the sparks on occassion because when they go in the zone they can be rather insufferable, even Agatha, but oh my god Bangladesh is such a kickass psycho. She has zero scruples, isn't the brightest bulb (poor Higgs when he tries to save her and she kept attacking!) but she has wicked instincts and acts very well on them. I also love her insistence on torching everything in sight. And her sailor costume rocks.

Higgs is confirmed Jäger, or are we still uncertain about that? He's got the healing, and occasionally the accent slips through...

Bangladesh is about fifty kinds of awesome. You just need to point her at something and she can and will destroy it. Every page with her is a delight. Modding the medical glove for electric shocks? Awesome, especially since she's not even a spark.
Also: I HEARD THERE IS A HAT
Can't wait for her to find out it was Zeetha who decimated her fleet.
And I kinda want to see her and Zola duking it out.

Re Higgs: I don't think we got an official confirmation on that in the webcomic, but considering the hints - the healing, the general resilience, the accent, the jäger mentality (zeetha: "Ima KICK YOUR ASS" higgs: "thats a date"), the fact that he hangs out in gkikas basement bar, the thing where he talked to the castle about some ancestor of agatha, basically any interaction of him with the castle - he's a jäger on some kind of undercover mission in wulfenbach's troops, and i'm almost willing to bet he's the general in the shadows.

Heeeeeeyyyy, wasn't there an absent general? One who wasn't at the conference and was watching the Heterodyne? Could that be Higgs? Or am I confused again and that absent general has already been revealed?

Higgs is absolutely a Jäger, or a half-Jäger! After all, it's been confirmed Jägers and humans have no trouble um... 'Getting along'. (I'm thinking of the double wielding axe Jäger who's name I've forgotten who hung around with Dimo and Maxim - he had great grand children who were certainly human and is known to have slept around!) and we've seen the Jägers are also pretty 'shneaky' in their own right, ja? :)

Bang is amazing. And I agree about Higgs, if he´s not a jäger (he doesn´t LOOk like one but who knows) he has certainly been hanging around them for a while.

    Oggie.
Hrm, maybe, but I'm more in favour of full Jäger with Regeneration Special. He was shanked by Zeetha's blades and was up and running a few minutes later - and the Jäger who got stuck in the vespiary ship who got dragged out by Tarvek mentioned not healing quite that fast.

@Bel Capricorn muhahahahahahahahahha and all that.
