I actually am in fashion class rn and have been learning all sorts of helpful things, so if anyone wants specifics hmu, its super fun
a lot of the style applicable stuff is in distractions from things you dont like, or illusions over things, and colour theory

    actually, i forgot this part
a lot of the stuff is super helpful for trans/etc people, as you can use it to turn your "too feminine" (to your tastes) body shape into a different more masc one/etc

@Imoyram I'd be interested in any and all of that!

In other news, I'm trying to take my own advice re.: not buying stuff that doesn't fit perfectly because I found this blazer and it's so beautiful & I've been thinking about it for like a weeeeeek. If it wasn't £70 I would just go for it. I still might.

Fake edit: omg I forgot this was the fashion thread and I can just ask people for opinions.
The fit issue is that the arms are quite narrow and my shoulders are broad, which makes the shoulder pads look a bit weird, particularly from the side. On the other hand, it hangs beautifully and I can never find blazers that do that. And it makes me feel cute and powerful.

    @EulersBidentity
SO basically, a lot of it is very individual, but it's using elements of design to draw attention away from things you dont wnat people to notice, or using elemnts of design to highlight the things you want to draw attention to.

(elemnts are colour, line, texture, sillhouette/forme/shape, and one other I cant remember :I )

to use an example my teacher used, if you were playing football, and you wanted to look more intimidating because you dont have very wide shoulders, you would use horizontal lines to give yourself the appearance of wider shoulder; ie more intimidating
If you wanted to make your boobs be less attention drawing, you could be a focus of attention somwhere else, a bright skirt and duller shirt, or ruffly sleeves,
If you wanted the attention to stay aroundyour face, you would wear a duller/darker colour with a brighter, or just different (sparkly, ruffles, etc) focus of interest aound your neck or in your hair. It draws the attention to your face and keeps it there

well I mean depending on what you consider "fashionable" you can totally wear what amounts to "basically pajamas" in a way that makes you look cute and fashionable.
This unfortunately usually ends up going in the direction of more alternative fashion stuff rather than "mainstream", so it really depends, but as someone who owns a wardrobe that includes at least 20% "technically homewear/sportswear/PJs" things... it is definitly possible to build an outfit from a bunch of cute cozy elements that do not end up looking quite as obviously like Pajamas together but maintain all the soft and ease and comfort.

ivy does a lot of layering, right? and doesn't so much stick to traditional top/bottom/jacket outfit structure? so they can build really cool Looks with casual-seeming clothing, it's just that the Looks often look like fantasy concept art. (not that that's a bad thing, i love ivy's outfits.)

I know this is hells of late in answering but this was a huge struggle of mine all through high school and I've found New York & Company is good for standard dress button ups that accomodate a very pronounced waist-bust discrepancy without looking boxy or drapey, as many are wont to do.

    yes that basically.
On aveage my current outfits consist of a top, a pullover, a cardigan/coat thingie, a dress and or a skirt, pants underneath, boots, fingerless gloves, at least one scarf, a hat and then whatever my actual outdoors coat is, plus boots of some kind. So among these? The pants can be sweatpants that have a cute print or an interesting fabric, the dress can be a vintage nightgown, the cardigan can be the peignoir of a different vintage nightgown set and so on. I got a crochet blanket specifically to wear as an oversized scarf/cape!
I have a really cozy fluffy white onesie I am currently wearing as a pajama, but I've been thinking about wearing it out as a statement piece bc it's really gosh darn cute and comfy and looks fancy as hell with the fake cableing.
It may take some time to figure out how to get clothes that are both homewear and look kind of fancy and luxurious enough to fly under the radar. Also deliberately selecting for textures helps a bunch! Lace and chiffon, chunky knit with cables, soft fuzzy fake fur, linen and woven cotton are all easier passed off as normal clothes than jersey, fleece and sweatshirt fabric (though these are also not impossible to incoorporate.) Then you accessorize to make it seem more deliberate!
I recommend vintage nightwear for a very romantic sort of fancy look (that may be slightly less comfortable) and yoga clothes for more stylish and modernish comfortable clothes, bc those come in lots of loose flowy cuts that work really well for layering, but also have some cool pattern stuff!

I'm trying something new with my makeup. I went to a cosplay makeup panel at a con and got a lot of good advice from it, and holy shit does it help. I don't have any good pics of my before makeup face because I hate them all and have deleted them, but here's my face after I've discovered the magic of primer, liquid eyeliner, and good lip gloss.

UK8 / EU41 / US10 suede Mary Janes by Office. Worn once. So cute. Rich purple real suede upper with punch out frill around the vamp and metallic pink accents, silver buckles, heart print leather inner. Round toes and a modest heel. Super fuckin dainty which is why I never wore them :-p they are comfortable.
