I am a fringe now! And I went to a demo.

Fringe is usually less choppy than that but London in January is damp & windy.

Sometimes it's warm and damp and windy! But you have a point.

I usually live in Georgia. We have similar weather. Wet is a given, windy is often, warm or cool varies depending on the roll of the dice (and the guy rolling the dice has been having a really long string of bad rolls).

So, according to my mother, my hair is "objectively ugly" and I need to cut it as soon as possible. Here's exactly what it looked like at the time. I'd like your opinion on that.

Objectively? It needs to be parted more in the center. Fluff it out a bit (run your hands, not a comb, upward from your neck). Cut it? HELL NO - your hair is awesome.

Like that? That's as centered as I can get it while it's clean, for some reason.

Your hair has a certain amount of dishevelment to it due to the curls, but a loose braid or just keeping a brush on hand should be enough for that. You have a decent hair texture imo, and cutting hair is super overrated.

hehe - that had the opposite effect. It looks like it is parted on the right, slightly above your right eye. The easiest way to part it in the center is to use the instrument of hair destruction (a comb) and press it down on your head. watch in the mirror - push backwards and use your fingers to sort out the bits that try to resist going where they should. GENTLY use the comb to guide the hairs to either side as they will be kind of hanging out saying "okay, we been separated, so what now?" and not really moved yet

Once they are separated with a clear line down the center, wet them and comb them to each side

It will take a while to train them to go the right ways
Assuming you like the center part look

There is a pic of Ancient Guardian's hair with the center part someplace in the KF thread - I think your hair is about as curly as his and would look good that way

Kay - Ancient Guardian says I wasn't clear on how to use the comb to make the part.
Think of it as a cleaver and you are about to split your head in two pieces down the center. Hold it upright, with the tines stabbing your scalp, the handle to the front and the blade toward the back. Slice your scalp front to back slowly using the fingers of your free hand to push/pull hairs into place. Try not to draw blood as it makes the hairs clump.

More like a knife, then, you're supposed to use a cleaver like an axe. :P
But okay, I got it. I'll try it once I get back to my apartment and see if I like the center part thing.

I is not good about the weapons with sharp edges - I'm not allowed near them. Or the ones with dull edges. Or the heavy ones. ...
