I'm loving the world building with ship life. It's starting to sound a lot like how my FIL describes Submariner life when underway. Rank is looser, no one cares about uniforms and it's a very tight knit family of ~90, vs Surface formality and ~500-1000+ There's a very fun story involving an Engineering Room poker game getting spontaneously interrupted by an Admiral (in dress blues) who walked in, undid his coat and told them to "Sit the fuck down and deal me in. Any of you motherfuckers calls me 'sir' is getting an asswhoopin."

just caught this (i was curious about what erskin was doing in the planning thread) and i'm loling 'cause erskin fucking aspera was cited as the one saying it, accountswise, and just... omfg omfg erskin thinks he's got a hot butt (and yes, i totally know it was actually @roach saying that, not erskin. but erskin saying that is hilarious!)

I have a Very Important Question. The answer's probably out there, but what kind of relative heights are we dealing for with the tools currently showing up in the Navy au? I know galley's tall, but is he taller than bel, especially without physical trauma playing silly buggers with his joints? And what about erskin, lainey, and arguus? I need to know because Reasons.
bel is the tallest. in the main verse he and galley are the same height, around 6'2" i think, but bel wasn't done growing in that one. in this one, bel is blueblood huge -- probably edging up on 7 feet tall, and built like chris evans. galley is the same height as before, but less emaciated because he's getting regular maintenance. @roach will have to answer about the others, i'm not sure.
this is... at least the third time he's been like "OH GOOD NOW I HAVE A REASON NOT TO BE ATTRACTED TO ERSKIN" lol.
I'd say Erskin's finally managed to top 6'? but his growth curve's shallower than the blues and indigos, so he won't be hitting 7 or 8' for like another century. He's about average height for a seadweller his age, which puts him at taller and broader than lowbloods but head-and-shoulders shorter than Bel. Lainey's like 5'6'' and chubby— not in the beef-tank sort of way fit and heavy people are but in a 'i like eating and dislike sweating' sort of way. She's unrepentantly hedonistic. Arguus might actually be about Bel's height but he's built like a crane. Man, a ship's compliment of adult trolls would have the kind of size variation of a dog park. That's kind of nuts to think about.
