The bad news is that I got the first photo from a standalone tweet that came up on my Twitter timeline...and the second photo from a direct reply to that tweet. There were no other photos attached to the tweet besides these two. So I don't know where to find any more.

...The good news is that I just went on an Extensive Internet Journey trying to find that tweet again, and in the process I found:
    • This Facebook photo album, from a new reply to that tweet. It's got 26 images of House Nonsense in this vein. Not all of them have the same "definite code violation" energy as these two - some of them are just stylistically tacky - but there are some good ones in there.
    • This mysterious Zillow house, from searching the term "groverhaus" on Twitter. Actually, this one might be more wild than the first two I posted here. I think it's a journey one has to go on alone.
    • This Twitter account, from a reply to the previous tweet. It looks like it's an account just for posting "wtf house" photos, or mostly for it, anyway. So...the closest thing I could find to what you were originally asking for. :D

according to the gremlin census the six that form a triangle are all occupied full-time. the odd one out, despite its similar appearance, is actually a soundproofed screamhole for such activities as screaming (gremlin traditional pastime), making music, screaming while making music, and reading fanfiction.

    1. they're like the famous Fourteen Hole Docs all the punks coveted back in my day, but also like the plain black converse we could all actually afford, so they make me nostalgic
    2. fusion is just a cheap tactic to make weak shoes stronger??

Dunno about those ones, but a lot of especially tall lace up shoes have discreet zippers going up the side, even when the precision of the lacing is less aesthetically important than those.

I had a friend in high school who had a pair of tallish boots with a military aesthetic. Generally if you had to lace those, you’d stop way lower down than just the top grommets, above the ankle a bit, and then you’d wrap the laces all the way around the shoe before tying them off. But his were not those boots. And yet he laced them all the way up every single time.

Another friend, who did do the half lace tie-off with his own army surplus boots, once attempted to divine the reasoning behind all of this lacing while waiting once more for friend one to finish putting his shoes on. He said, “Those have zippers, you know?”

Friend one said, “Yeah, aren’t they cool?”

And we all just left it at that.

As for the tall converse, I’ve seen dancers in shoes a lot like that. May have actually been that. They’re at least as much costume as they are footwear. Sans zippers, they’re definitely impractical for everyday wear unless that’s just what it takes to satisfy your aesthetic.

Technically I have scripts and I’m only slightly afraid to use them. What kind of upsetting are we talking about here? Because I accidentally ran an overly enthusiastic color inversion script on an image with transparency before. It inverted the alpha channel along with the color channels. The background was extremely opaque, unlike everything else.

    NOT THAT KIND OF UPSETTING

(I'm somehow picturing this as having made it more opaque than the usual full opacity. Like, your background shape bulged out to the sides from its edges like an overfull suitcase, slightly raised from the surface of the screen, at 125% opacity. Probably not what you meant but *full-body shudder*)

And, not exactly, I was thinking... make the whole background alpha, except for something in the middle of the glasses. Maybe make the something appear slightly different in each eye-hole, so that if you cross your eyes it looks like even more of an abomination. The color of the something would traditionally be white, but for publication on Kintsugi, it should probably be that pale blue of the default background. The key point here is that unless you click and drag, it looks totally normal.

As for what the something should be, idk, a frog wearing a crown on one side and tooting one of those party chameleon tongues on the other? That guy dressed in white who people keep editing into photos and making people find? "Then perish"? A garden gnome leaning on a stick and wearing a cowboy hat? A pair of eyes spaced too wide apart with a shit-eating grin between them?

Or make the background white (white specifically, same as it is now) except for the middle of the glasses which is transparent. That'd do it too.

Oh heavens that’s terrifying! I didn’t do that. It’s probably easiest to just quote the whole post, it’s got the before and after already.

I don’t actually have a script currently that does anything about contiguous spaces, though I’ve got several edge finding scripts. And it’s not exactly challenging to find white pixels and differentiate them from pixels that aren’t white if you’re not concerned about the result being totally perfect. So I currently can’t find areas, just colors, but this image would probably be a pretty reasonable test image if I were to write such a script.

Most cursed idea so far without doing anything terribly special: checkerboard alpha channel. Like that horrible thing where someone screencaps an image with a checkerboard background that’s supposed to indicate transparency but now is just a really janky background that’s too much bother to fix. Except it’s a checkerboard of transparent and opaque squares.

Extra curse: The frames are also affected by the checkerboard but they’re like, 80% opaque instead of transparent within the transparency squares.

It wouldn’t be difficult to transpose a monochrome image into the alpha channel either.

Heh if I did make a shape-finding script and isolated the lenses, I could probably do the cursed transparency checkerboard but with different sized squares in each lense. Or more simply, slightly different levels of transparency.

I may have to just do this because I’ve always wanted to be uncouth, but like, in a really stupid way. I don’t think I could pull of serious traditional uncouth, let alone wicked.

Also absolutely do the different sized squares, that’s terrifying.

Yisssssss that’s my entire bucket list! Time to start on the barrel list, which is like a bucket list but presupposes that you might need things to do in case you accidentally live forever.

I’m cultivating a library of image processing scripts where some of them are so incredibly foundational that it’s honestly kinda silly to bother saving and using a personal script because there’s already like five different library functions for each that are probably faster and more perfect, a couple are utilities that make it easier to work with all those rewritings of basic algorithms, one is named after an elephant, a couple are obviously just funny mistakes or experiments that didn’t pan out, and the rest are so bizarrely specific that it’s difficult to imagine why it exists, let alone why on earth anyone would save a fully documented script for that, as if it might be needed again in the future.

Yeah that's me except I have a friend who does the programming and I keep calling him up being like "hey can you get out the bitbuckets again I had a horrible idea" and he's just like *sigh* okay what is it this time?

I am a programmer myself, but this specific subset of programming has a steep learning curve, at least in some languages, and I haven't made the jump. I do my own pixel art, animation, and video game interface design and implementation, but batch processing images, nope.
