    lol yup

I guess I'd come down on the side of, perception is what changes it from a vibration to a sound. "sound" and "light" (and, hell, "math" and "planets" and basically anything observable we've stuck a name onto) are concepts people use to describe things that would exist even if those concepts had never been invented. perception takes the raw material of reality and extrapolates it into millions of very important and very fragile new dimensions. so, if you believe that God (or a god) is in everything, then yeah, I guess it would always be a sound!

@LadyNighteyes yes you correctly identified my literary influences lol

i'm of the opinion that 'sound' is the word for vibration traveling through a medium, whether it's in an audible range or not, and whether there's an observer or not. the winds of jupiter's red spot howl like a motherfucker, imo, even though no one could survive to listen. so that's separate from my religious conviction that there's a source of consciousness and creation that has a universal awareness. it's just a matter of how you define the word 'sound'.

where religion comes into it for me is that, yeah, i do think parts of the universe that are not observed are still beautiful, because the universe is loved. so that's completely a subjective spiritual thing.

Wouldn’t it technically still be observed if we assume an omniscient God? Genuine question—I’m no theologian.
