Eh, I don't think Catra's gonna turn out to be a princess - for one thing that hologram-cat-person is not as scrawny as her. Also, I'm not sure that the non-elemental princesses aren't part of the system - Scorpia, Netossa, Entrapta, and Spinnerella all make hologram-circle appearances (though Entrapta's is only visible when the camera cuts in on Adora looking at Glimmer's.)

Also, given that the original She-Ra cartoon had Adora and Catra as rivals for the affection of Seahawk we should probably be careful about building theories too closely tied to the 80s canon (and what's with that 'she has her mother's eyes' pic when both of Catra's eyes are clearly different colors from the Queen's...)

Also, I'm pretty sure that the Horde has only been around for like. 10-odd years. 20 tops. King Micah is one of the Horde's first casualties, so of course the war can't be much older than Glimmer, and of course it would be even shorter if Glimmer has actual memories of her dad.

Also what was that fandom.wikia's source on Glimmer's parents? We know Bow has 2 dads because one of the VAs mentioned it in an interview, but I don't remember anything about Glimmer having 2 moms.

I thought the holograms were all depictions of the historical counterparts of the current Princesses, from back when the First Ones were still around? The hologram Scorpia certainly looks to have a different stature than the current one, anyway.

Oh, I must have been misremembering. Still, though, Scorpia had to have been pretty young when the Horde arrived, right? Under 10, at least. It's kind of hard to tell how old she is.

Well, the Glimmer hologram definitely looks like Glimmer, down to her cape. Angella's has her wings, and Netossa, Spinnerella, Perfuma, and Mermista's holograms all have their hairstyles, so I think they are meant to be the current princesses.

I tried to find out, but no clue. Sorry about that.

Does that sound like Scorpia's old enough to have been to one before? Let's say Scorpia is somewhere between high 18 or up to 23? (Not sure what sort of age-gap makes shipping teens and YA creepy.)

Maybe there were other gatherings? Why would Scorpia hang out with other Princesses?

Anyway, I spent most of the day trying to figure out the logistics of Catra/Scorpia slash, and I don't think that I could keep them in-character and write something people would be comfortable reading at the same time. Maybe someone else can get it to work, but now I'm thinking that a tickle-scene with Entrapta and Scorpia would be more wholesome.

But it made me have a thought about Scorpia's claws. Mermista can change her legs into a tailfin. What if Scorpia should be able to to have proper hands, but can't because she was disconnected from her stone?

Subject change: Catra being a princess... I don't think she's the princess, but I think that maybe the cat-princess might be heterochromic and missing in such a way that Catra could be mistaken for her. And I think Catra's headpiece is just a fashion choice. Did she start wearing one before or after teasing Adora about the tiara?

The Princess Prom happens only once a decade, but there are many other Princessy gatherings. Bow and Glimmer worked out a whole routine for them, they're that frequent.

Catra's headpiece is not just a fashion statement. She does not have it in her ep11 flashbacks, but she does have it by the start of the series, of course. It's also relevant to her character in some unknown way:

Thanks for the link on episodes I should focus on rewatching. I fell asleep to "the return of seahawk" the other night, and had completely forgotten that Seahawk was his own character. I assumed that he was a reminder of how obnoxious the original Bow was. (Not that many of the characters weren't obnoxious. WTH 80's and giving everyone screechy distorted voices.)

Furious vacillation between pitch and flushed is how I'm rolling with them tbh.

I need to rewatch that episode when I feel better but
I think I saw that Bow's heart was glowing. Does he now have magic heart powers?

The Mysticor episode was all sorts of triggery for me.

I binged all of it over two days and I'm desperately in love with these characters. Catra especially, but also Adora and Glimmer and Scorpia and Entrapta and and and--

They really fucking nailed with all of them, I think, and the designs are so good guys, they're so fucking good. I would die for Scorpia in a heartbeat. I'm already excited for the second season, whenever that comes.

Also fuck me if Shadow Weaver's behavior towards Catra and Adora isn't a perfect example of the scapegoat/golden child dichotomy. It makes me wonder if there was something Adora did as a small child that managed to catch her attention, or if it was something Catra did, or if it's just that she plays favorites and playing them off each other was how her shitty mind games worked.

Even if it's part of her descent into darkness, I absolutely felt a thrill of triumph when she finally got Shadow Weaver kicked out of her position. Like, fuck yes, I mean it's making you a villain hardcore, but also, fuck Shadow Weaver she deserves the fall from grace.

Someone on failfandomanon pointed out that the Moonstone's aspect is light and the Black Garnet's aspect is darkness, and now my crackship for the series is Glimmer/Scorpia. I really hope they get a proper meeting in season 2

I think I read somewhere that Scorpia's family surrendered the Black Garnet to the horde in exchange for not destroying their country; in that case, maybe she was also given as a hostage, as there would be at least some link between her and the Garnet, initially.

I remember Entrapta saying that she and Scorpia wouldn't be weakened by hacking the runestone because they don't have a runestone to connect to; since the Horde only has one runestone, maybe it was destroyed or otherwise damaged or displaced in whatever event made her live in a mostly empty castle with robotic parents.

Scorpia's description is that her family welcomed the Horde and gave them their Runestone, and that's why no one else really likes them - she doesn't seem to think of it as it being taken or surrendered, really, more of a gift. So I don't think she was hostage-exchanged, or if she did it was so incredibly secret not even she knows about it. Probably the lack of a connection is either because she never forged one in the first place, or Shadow Weaver disrupted it. And, idk, if she'd had a Runestone I feel like she'd have mentioned it? she talks like she's never had a chance to get up close and personal with Runestone systems, I think.

Shadow Weaver's connection to the Garnet was only just broken, so it could be that in season 2 Scorpia will start to reforge her own connection since it seems she'll be spending some time in its vicinity.

    Key never make a triangle

Based on how Scorpia said she was treated by the princesses before the horde arrived, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if her family welcomed the horde, especially since the horde does seem to be good at being nice to people if they think it’ll get them on their side. But I also wouldn’t be surprised if Scorpia’s family was initially threatened and only joined the horde to protect their own people.

I really want her to end up joining the rebellion eventually too, partly because crackship and partly because I want to torment Catra some more

Though that might make her arc a bit too similar to Adora’s so idk
