oph There was a user here, but it's gone now

I'm attempting to compose a song and I don't know if I'd call it great or nothin' but it's not terrible!

I'm trying to learn how to play violin, and kinda sing with half remembered stuff from middle school choir. I don't sing very often though, because my family complains that i sing too loud, which embarrasses me. I also managed to break one of my violin strings when i was tuning it for the first time. I'm still waiting on getting new ones.

I just bought a well-reviewed budget USB mic, because I've had it just about up to here with exams and I'm distracting myself. So maybe I will make a couple of recordings when it arrives!

I made a song on garageband for class!
    Requirements were
    -no more than eight loops
    -only loops
    -at least 20 bars
-maximum of three loops playing at the same time
-do a genre you dont listen to a lot

so I did a jazz song, which I do not listen to a lot of.
I have no fucking clue how to get it out of garageband though
    otherwise I would post it.

@Imoyram is there an option in Save As to save it as an mp3, or an option to extract the project?

Ohh I see. Well, you could use Google Drive - upload it, select it, there should be a button that says "share" or "get shareable link". Only people with the link would be able to see it.

SO music teacher said if people who were done handed in another one she would grade on which one she felt was better
    so I made another one
this one is using loops in the "chillwave" genre, which I've never heard of before

I like the Jazz one best, the chillwave one ends a little abruptly for my taste. I hope you get a good grade! :)

I have a semi-big-deal consultation lesson on Tuesday so today I rehearsed with my pianist. And recorded one of the pieces on my tablet!

Lots of things to work on, but I hope it'll show my potential to this teacher.

Edit: oh right, the piece is Samuel Barber's St Ita's Vision, a tone down from original pitch.

since I was digging through my files to find a thing for the singing voice thread, here's the only thing I've done resembling composition. in 2014 i had a lot of sound effects on my external hard drive that i was using for legitimate school projects, but also sometimes squished them into rhythm-y things.

    nyoom the link

it's three separate clips sort of put together for ease of soundcloud-ing. the first one I now think is kind of wonky, I like the other two better. comments and critique v much welcome

I'm guessing the three parts are 0:00-0:12, 0:13-0:26 and then 0:26 to the end?
I actually liked the first one, not necessarily as a thing in itself but it sounded like it could easily be made a part of a more complete track. Maybe with a soft pad and a subby kick drum every once in a while to provide a bit of foundation.
The second one I think could use some light reverb to make it sound a bit more spaced out. It's slow enough that the reverb won't make it too messy, and it is a little dry at the moment.
For the third one I think the sound on the downbeat is a bit muffled. It sounds a bit weak compared to the rest of the instruments, as if the transient is getting compressed. Something a bit clickier or thumpier might be less of a volume dip.

My choir did Duruflé Req last night for All Souls' day. Mum couldn't make it, so I asked a friend's dad to record my solo movement on my tablet.

Genuinely this is one of the scariest and most difficult pieces I've sung, in terms of how high and exposed and sustained it is. My knees and my voice were shaking! But I thought I sang it as well as I'm currently able to, and I'm happy with that.
