it'll be your final project, he says

SO it's my last semester and one of my final projects is "GO OUT AND SOLVE A PROBLEM" the only problem is I'm really bad at spotting problems the SECOND I'm assigned a project about it
my best idea rn is "we need a better/more easily accessible website full of fiber arts projects for the apartment/home"

I figured I'd hit Kintsugi up and ask for help—what do y'all need? what can I help solve?

(this can range between "I don't have a way to garden easily" to "I'm a student teacher and I need [xyz teaching materials/posters/etc]")

I can't think of any problems I have that need solving right now, but if I happen to remember or come across one I will submit it for your consideration!

That's seriously a tough project though.

yyyyyeah >< it's...kinda ridiculous, especially as we can't solve problems for ourself? even if I manage to find an issue I'd have to find someone else to say it's THEIR issue and solve it for them
annnnd our campus is like. 10k+ people, so "ON CAMPUS SOLUTIONS!" gets a lot less feasible REAL fast

@Chiomi ooh! The worst part of this assignment is finding the right office/authority to talk to

@unknownanonymous it's for a class centered around the more ~modern technical skills~ english majors need to use what with the dawn of the internet

Possibly event planning would be the first stop, to see what kind of stranglehold the catering company that does meals has on your campus. But a food pantry is enough of a free press thing for the university that after that you can probably just go straight to the provost's office. Like, actual concerns would be location, marketing, whether you're doing unstaffed or staffed with volunteers, and dealing with donations.

    hmmm
I mean in all fairness I'm not actually required to solve the problem—just come up with a possible way it could be solved, which works REALLY well because I don't actually have as much free time to do meetings and whatnot

that sounds hella cool I might look into that

Well, okay. Cool that they have it, dammit that you are still stuck for a project.

I've got a problem? So while I've found a store that is very close to me that plays the Force of Will trading card game, by and large the game's playership is flagging quite a bit in California. It's flagging in the western states of the US in general. So basically how to cultivate a playerbase. Not just in gaining initial members, but in building something that grows and sustains.

Most definitely! Especially as the region we're in would really need one I think. Like—I'd super rather they have one than I'd have a project yfeel?

Oh! I'll add that to the "potentials" list—my main concerns about it would be location + I'd have to IN-DEPTH interview you/other people for it

Another suggestion: your campus has a food pantry already, but does it have a supply closet? That's something I've only learned about upon transferring to my new school. This school has a few different supply closet locations around campus (it's a big campus), and each of them provides free toiletries/household items to students having an unexpected financial emergency or otherwise struggling. So, they stock things like: shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, lip balm, toilet paper, paper towels, band-aids, dish soap, sponges...that kind of thing.

...I don't know much about how it works, but I'm looking into it now. It looks like it's part of a larger system this college has for students living in economic insecurity? Like, you can donate items to the supply closet directly, but you can also donate money to this larger fund, and the larger fund both pays for the supply closet and also pays for emergency financial support and other support resources. I don't know if your school has any similar thing that a supply closet could latch onto, but then I think a supply closet could also be a standalone thing...or maybe run by the same people who are currently running the food pantry...or something.

EDIT: Now that I'm thinking about it, there are two other similar concepts I've seen at other schools:
    • Supply closets for school supplies, like notebooks, calculators, etc.
    • A closet of suit jackets/skirts/pants in a variety of sizes for students to borrow when going to a job interview or career fair or something.

@Alexand Unsure! I'm...going to be upfront with you guys, but like, I don't super have the spoons, available time, or actual time left in this country to start on a big project. It'd...probably end up being a design proposal period, which is allowable in this project! But I'm not actually going to go out and Properly Solve The Problem unless it's on the "can I do this within a month while working 20+ hours and carrying a five course load" scale ><
