New alt on Faerie! This is Laughing Fawn. I rushed him to level 15 specifically so I could get him a flower crown before the Little Ladies' Day event is over.

At the workshop there are laptops for our use, and to make sure we get the same ones in days we’re here we put a sticky note on the inside by the touchpad. I’d taped mine down with fancy tape.

I guess someone else used it on the day I was sick because there was crap like ‘driver booster’ newly installed, AND!! They’d ripped up my fucking tape to put a piece over the webcam!

I’m sorry you’re paranoid, random asshole, but get your own fucking tape instead of ripping up the tape holding my note down! It doesn’t work worth a shit if both ends aren’t stuck to the laptop surface! I can share but DON’T TOUCH MY STUFF!!!

The Java course is also frustrating me. The language barrier is exhausting and some of the exercises are exactly the same as a previous one with a couple of extra bits tacked on... but they don’t bother to SAY that. I don’t learn by rote repetition, it just makes my poor adhd brain try to claw itself out of my skull and wastes my time.

Two assignments are ‘Desing an assignment with instructions, code, and tests’ and god, I REALLY hate that sort of thing. I don’t know why I hate it so much but it never fails to make me want to yell and throw things.

Not having the patience for repetition might make this whole thing a doomed venture, come to think of it...

It's like... in FFXIV, most classes have a set rotation of skills. You press your buttons in a certain order to do the most damage possible. A lot of advice on how to get good at that rotation is to hit a practice dummy for an hour a day until it's muscle memory.

I can do that for about five to ten minutes before my brain leaps out of my skull and runs shrieking down the hallway. I have to go into Actual Content, with mechanics to react to, to get the muscle memory down. I'm still doing the same thing over and over, but I'm doing it in a variety of situations, which keeps my brain engaged.

Doing the exact same thing over and over in a static environment makes my brain freak out. (I had an awful time doing data entry at one job because of this.) I don't memorize anything or learn anything.

Man, i think you hit on why i prefer healing/tanking over dpsing--more reactive. I tend to go RDM to get my Eureka challenge log done and goddamn is it mind-numbing.

I had the same issue with math in school, when you where supposed to do like a sheet of 50 of the same type of problem. Ugh.

I think it's technically understimulation? I know i can do *really* boring repetitive stuff that is muscle memory if im doing something else at the same time (listening to music or watching a video) but if im learning something it requires...slightly more brainpower that those things would be distracting? But then not quite enough to make the task not-boring. Thats hell.

    /sad ADHD fistbump of solidarity

I'm doing the mental equivalent of lying facedown on the floor because I am SUPER BUMMED OUT about the FFXIV fan fest reveals. I'm pumped about the new story and lore but no new healing job and gender-locked races??? That is some bullshit, and I wasn't even looking to fantasia. It's bummed me out enough I have rock bottom expectations for the healer reworks and aesthetics. "Wow, another 130 ilevels of Yet More Robes!" said no one ever.

    Fawn is extremely photogenic.

I've been REALLY enjoying playing him, to the point I bought him a story skip so I didn't have to trudge through ARR a fourth time. (I love the game, but the base game is slow and three times is enough.) The world looks a lot different from the perspective of a little chibi hobbit man.

One of the cool things about the rehabilitation workshop I go to is that they have a variety of side activities they encourage us to partake in aside from whatever our individual focuses are. There are obviously Work Related things like CV workshops, but there's also things like a weekly drawing workshop that started a couple of weeks ago. I passed on the first session, but after one of the social workers/guidance people (? i'm really not sure what to call their role) gave me more of a nudge about it I went to the one this week and... it was nice. It was nice to draw again, even though I felt very fussed at how hard it's become to draw from life, even when it was just a still life of fruit and a vase.

It's kind of throwing me for a loop that this particular social worker has been gently encouraging me to participate in the more artsy things. It's not something I have obvious marketable inclinations about but employees of this work rehabilitation place are actually... encouraging me... to do them...???

    If this keeps up I might start getting ideas about doing something Art as actual work again and that never ends well. >_>;;;

I NEED a light/midweight spring/autumn jacket because right now my option is my winter coat, or a hoodie with a sports windbreaker over hte top, and that windbreaker is ostensibly only one size too big but fits more like it's two or three sizes too big. It looks awful!! I WANT a cool leather jacket, I have wanted one for years. eBay has some good options that won't be €€€ but... I need one now, not in a week.

... Okay, my vanity needs one now. I could struggle through with the shitty windbreaker. :||| At least for once m BUT YOU'RE POOR AND POOR PEOPLE DON'T DESERVE STUFF, MAKE DO voice is only grumbling... even it has to concede that owning two coats to cover a wide range of weather and temperature isn't actually outrageous decadence.

I am also Extra Cross because Daylight Savings Time started today in Europe and it's ever so much bullshit. Hey let's just steal away an hour from you and fuck up the entirety of your bodily rhythms for not really any good reason, so it can be magnanimously be given back to you in the autumn and you feel like you're 'gaining' time!

The reasoning I've seen behind having it at all is dumb as fuck in a nordic country - it's going to be daylight during ridiculous hours almost half the year no matter how they're juggled, jerking us around is utterly pointless.

Glasses to the tune of 149€, oof. I need progressive lenses now so no actual cheap options for me. I opted out of special coatings because, as I bluntly stated to the optometrist, I’m cheap. It’s such a racket.

At least prescription sunglasses were included in the price, I genuinely like the frames I chose, and I only have to wait a week and a half. If I wasn’t suffering, though, I’d have taken my prescription and run XD

I know it sounds like I'm shilling for them now, but Glasses Direct is currently doing £30 off orders £49 and above plus their regular 2-for-1 deal - just in case you want options or a couple of backup pairs.

I'll definitely consider it once I have a bit more wiggle room financially. Between this, the new vacuum, and my meds it's gotten a bit tight, and I still need few not-cheap things in relatively short order so I'm sweating a bit. x_x

another drawing session today at workshop, this time drawing one of the cafeteria trainees that volunteered to model. When I was done, the instructor said my style looked like a particular classic Dutch artist’s, which was very nice of him - I was feeling like I’m just *really* bad at drawing now! XD

I should have taken a photo of it, but I didn’t think to. Whoops.
