I require help to work out the concurrent timelines in a thing I'm writing. I don't know how long is a reasonable time for anything to take.

-Character 1; flees town in the morning, takes train journey which would take about five hours, spends at least several days on the streets and then another at least several days in an orphanage, investigates mystery.
-Character 2; stays in the town, collects evidence that character 1 didn't do the murder they fled because everyone thought they did, goes after character 1 to bring them back, doesn't know where they are so spends at least several days searching.

I need to work out a proper timeline for this so they can meet up at the correct moment, and also how 2 finds out at least the way 1 went. 2 could spend forever searching if they don't find a decent clue, but also would find 1 much too soon if they got too much info.
