Personally, I like to attempt a new skill every knitting project, because my attention span is short. But I don't think there's a "normal" speed for learning new skills.

Edit: I also spend a lot of time frogging. If I have a specific end goal in mind, I stick more closely to what I know.

    I just remembered a thing!

@jacktrash, ages ago (18-24 months?) I sent a message to your knitbro tumblr about making fingerless gloves which allow for max ease of finger movement. My mum wanted gloves she could play piano in. I don't remember if I ever sent a follow-up, but I followed your advice of making regular fingerless gloves without attaching the fingers to each other, and they turned out great! Mum still wears them, ~2 years later.

I know I just posted a wip of this as part of my big cross-stitch dump not too long ago, but as of this weekend, I've started working on this project for the first time in months, and I'm really pleased with how it's starting to come together.

I don't actually crochet, but I was signing up for fairfields raffle thing and found out they apparently have tons of cute patterns? They probably have patterns for other stuff but I saw this and was like, kintsugi people should see this! So here https://www.fairfieldworld.com/project/crocheted-turkey/

Oh also @roach would you want some help figuring out the velociraptor plush pattern?

It IS. And half the prospective buyers probably have no idea. I adore how quietly (heh) pervasive Homestuck is.

Edit: Apparently it isn't. Point still stands because Homestuck has gotten around enough to have multiple instances of "I Can't Believe It's Not Homestuck"

I googled it, apparently it's from a 1995 Adam Sandler movie. Ofc, it could also be a Karkat quote.

Have Karkat and Adam Sandler ever been seen at the same place, same time? Sounds like conspiracy theory time to me.

Karkat does have a different troll adam sandler poster in his room, so maybe he is quoting troll adam sandler?

Does anyone make their own yarn? I'm seeing some gorgeous drop spindles with stone weights, and I'm wondering about dipping my toes into that?

yes indeedy, i do spin! drop spindles are fun, pretty, and relatively cheap, but very very slow. i prefer to use a wheel.

I mentioned that some people here spin their own yarn and Husband jokingly suggested that I gather up the literal mountain of fur we get off fluffcat and see about having someone spin cat yarn.

He was joking but holy shit that would make the softest, warmest socks ever.

i have spun hermes-kitty yarn, and it is quite nice. long-haired cat fur is pretty similar to angora rabbit.

Isn't Hermes a brown tabby of some flavor? That would make a lovely color too! Beau is silvery grey but it seems to lose its shine once it's off him.
