I am genuinely concerned I’ll get nightmares from this and I regret clicking it. I’m not sure why shit like this unsettles me more than like...pretty much any other form of horror, but it does.

    finished watching marianne on netflix!

i really liked it, a lot more than i initially thought i would. it's really well done and has a lot of nice humorous and emotional bits to balance out the horror. i really ended up rooting for the protags, even ones that i disliked. entertaining, fun, spooky as hell, with really compelling characters.

Rewatched Session 9, and man is it creepier than I remember it being.

Found a horrid YouTube short. Features a very short clip of child abuse and hints of it throughout, animal death, body horror, Gore, and an unhealthy obsession with teeth. Honestly very creepy, but I love the no nonsense but still casual narration going along as if everything is normal. Sent chills up my spine:

Started watching Nos4a2 and I didn't realize Zachary Quinto was in this. He's really good at playing super creepy villains.

Just finished reading The Hunger by Alma Katsu. It’s historical fiction about the Donner Party written by someone who has maybe probably seen the Wasatch Mountains in person, and it was great!

Wendigos are one of my favorite mythical monsters. I've loved the stories since I was introduced to the concept as a youngin and this video tells it well! TW contains cartoon gore and viscera:

anyone tried World of Horror now that it's in early access? seems to be one lengthy love letter to Junji Ito and has a lot of depth/variation to it even at this stage

naturally I am Too Weenie to buy it myself but I've watched streamers play it (through my fingers)

I haven't, but a friend of mine has heartily recommended it and played through it twice so far. It's on my list for when I'm not broke

watched the autopsy of jane doe

got a little cranky about some of the mortuary aspects they fucked up for cheap horror shots but that's definitely a me thing. personally i wasn't into the ending but the beginning was really interesting and fun. a solid B+ in my book

So you know BEN Drowned aka that haunted Majoras Mask creepypasta that inspired the entire cliche haunted videogame creepypasta genre?
Did you know that it was an ARG with a part 2 in 2011? And there was supposed to be a part 3 but the last substantial update was in 2012

well, its 2020, the world is ending, and part 3 of this decade old ARG is happening

A: i feel ancient for knowing and caring about this and B: ARGs are fucking nuts and i love and appreciate them for it

Huh, interesting. The binary in the video description:

It's ASCII of course. But it's still enciphered when you get the ASCII.

...I'm bringing this thread back because I've decided that what I really need right now is to consume a whole bunch of horror fiction.

Does anyone know any good "man vs. nature" horror movies? The other day I watched Frozen (2010) on a whim, and although I had my complaints (the wolves), I really liked the premise. Now I'm really in the mood to watch more spooky/gory/generally hair-raising, like...lost-in-the-desert, lost-in-the-mountains, storm, earthquake, tsunami, etc..."the cruel indifference of the planet to our survival" kind of movie. I guess I'll watch Open Water and 127 Hours next, even if 127 Hours isn't technically a horror film, just because those two get mentioned in reviews of Frozen a lot.

My only condition is "no OOC animals". (Or, at least, as little OOC animal presence as possible?) Y'know, like...super aggressive wolves...on a ski resort...in New England. I'm fine with a situationally appropriate bear attack or something, but it really breaks my suspension of disbelief when random animals get made into man-hunters just for the sake of the plot.

Oh man I thought you were talking about the Disney movie and got very concerned

How do you feel about meteors? Also, do post apoc movies caused by or resulting in nature taking over count?
