IT REALLY IS. What a good combination of things-I-know-I-would-find-sexy, things-I-was-intrigued-about, and things-I-had-no-idea-would-punch-me-in-the-nuts-like that. My friend was involved and since she is a big'ol Decepticon Sympathiser I got to be her Autobot liaison so I have some good "I helped!" vibrations towards that story.

I was really surprised at how much both of the Scavengers stories worked for me, considering I know basically nothing about them as characters? I mean, I've talked about wanting to do mid-transformation bondage before, that was a concept I knew would work for me from the start but the Krok/Spinister one slapped my jaw clean off with how good it was. Now there's a kink I didn't expect to like. Oh boy.

I also had Big Feelings about seeing anyone write Ratchet/Omega, that's a Peak Good Ship that there's no content for. Pretty much everyone who I am Robot Fandom Friends with called that that or the Ratchet/Swerve one would be the one that fucking killed me and they're all right, they know me so well.

Pokémon Go is reminding me that there are Many(tm) Pokémon outside of the five I always say I like that I like a lot.

I'm doing work on my balcony today, since it's getting too hot indoors without the canopy curtains up -- my apartment faces south so it heats like crazy -- and I had to move one of the flowerpots out of the way to get them up.

Oops, said flowerpot has been gathering water all winter and weighs twice as much as I do. I moved it to the bathroom very carefully right before spilling it and now the whole floor is covered in soily muck and ice. So that's gonna be a fun cleanup operation =__=)

It seems I'm also finally developing some hard limits for TF content. Hm. Don't know how to feel about that.

    DAY THREE!!!

I've commented on all the other KitW fics I felt like I had something to say about but all my feelings about the Ratchet/Omega one still keep coming out as incomprehensible tearful howling. Every time I think about it I just feel like I've been kicked in the chest which is not conductive for Making The Words Go Good.

Reason #1 for making friends with cool writers in the fandom:

IT IS wAY EASIER TO JUST GO YELL AT THEM ON DISCORD THAN WRITE A GODDAMN REVIEW.

    idiomie I, A Shark Apologist

i've been going through it by starting with authors/artists i already recognize and going from there (it is... easier. something about trying to do the zine from the beginning makes it feel Too Big to interact with, but starting with names a recognize mentally recategorized it as like... a rec list, i guess. *shrugs*)

my favorite part is... probably just the variety of ships? i tend to be really insular with my ships, lol - so some of it has been stuff that i wouldn't read otherwise, since i usually start by narrowing down by pairing. I never would have read the Ratchet/Swerve or Krok/Spinister ones otherwise, for example, but I really enjoyed them! (Not enough to add those ships to things I'll actively seek out, but that doesn't mean they weren't fun.)

Sympathy on the commenting thing. So far I haven't been able to get my commenting above two fics a day - I'm always paralyzed by "is this comment enough?" (Enough what? Who knows! Not me!)

@ gaming YouTube: if you're gonna post a 5+ hour commentary on something the least you could do is not play the cutscenes in full without any commentary

Like what is even the point? Catching up people who haven't played the game? (Why would they sit through a long-ass analysis like this, then?) Padding your video up to a nice even hourly number? ...wait, that one is actually plausible.

Still on the topic of the previous post -- it's quite annoying because the video is overall making good parts about how plot and mechanics sometimes contradict each other, how the abstractions of the game systems sometimes contradict lore, and about the dimensions of the physical gameplay, all quite fairly! All quite comprehensibly! And it's not like his takeaways from the cutscenes are somehow so granular that the audience needs to have them fresh in the mind -- mostly he just says he likes the cinematography and then gets on talking about the plot, like a review should.

Is it clear yet that I'm dancing around naming this guy because I mostly agree and sometimes vehemently disagree over taste issues, and I find it sad that someone's good intelligent observations are buried under... IDK, I guess a need to perform to a hostile audience. If the reason the cutscenes are being shown in full is to let the audience make up their own mind before he provides his own commentary, that's admirable -- but it kills the pacing of this video and it makes him seem unprepared like he's just coming up with these points on the fly.

It is a weird stylistic choice that weakens the experience. You're allowed to set a barrier of "if you're not familiar with this game this isn't for you"

Finally got that comment on Takeoff Sequence written. Let's hope the author is the type who enjoys people embarrassing themselves at them in return for the Big Feelings.

*sits down to write some no-strings faction-wide sex party stuff with a bonus chastity kink*

*accidentally ends up writing a character being forced to seduce their assassination mark and having weird feelings about the sex afterwards*

no wonder not a single gamer knows what the fuck a "trigger" is (in the psychology sense), because that's what they're called in gamedev also. Indeed, to some of them a trigger really just is a preprogrammed response the system gives, if that's the set of assumptions you're using as a baseline.

No wonder I've never caught onto that double-meaning b/c that's not the word used for it in Finnish, which is incidentally the language I learned gamedev in.

You know sometimes I idly wonder if TERFs are right and trans people do have concerns that are entirely removed from the considerations around sexuality and therefore don't have any place in the LGB community and find myself agreeing that a real genuine trans movement is still necessary, and queer and "pan-gay" advocacy is never gonna address my needs as a trans person, right before realising that, well, fuck, that's also technically true for polyamorous folks and intersex folks and I definitely feel kinship with them and would rather not have a community for each of my identities but rather a big tent (or a big umbrella) that fits us all.

Like blah blah divisiveness is a centrist talking point or whatever -- I'd rather continue to work to be understood than be forced to accept I can't be understood and be forced to find someone else to commiserate with. If I can extend compassion to people who don't experience the same exact issues as me then I'd rather people do it back at me, too.

Sometimes the whole fic is just "fuck you. Strong letter to follow" @ one specific dominant headcanon/trope in the fandom.

Post-yoga robot thoughts in this fine morning:

I really like the idea that Megatron's repeated descent into madness is at least partially informed by him being a labour frame (touchy-feely, socially affectionate) and his top brass mostly being warframes (taciturn, massive social distance, non-touchy). Most people think the looming and the casual touching is some kind of a threat display -- and, y'know, sometimes they're right -- but mostly that's kinda just how he is. So everyone shies away from standing near Megatron, which makes him go ">:[" and loom harder.

And this is why the rank-and-file love him but anyone who's managed to actually claw their way into a position of power (mostly through the privilege of being a killer already) perceives his behaviour as particularly domineering and unhinged.

I got my Banned Together bingo card and have been doing happy stimming motions about how I got both anti-Americanism and miscegenation and a bunch of horny anti-Christian prompts, before immediately hitting up my chaotically ex-Catholic friend to talk about the possibility of writing some Horny Robot Blasphemy.

Also my friend Jade plans to set every one of his entries in his proprietary Zelda universe and I'm still not over how genius that is. I wish I had a 'verse built enough to do that in. (Although I suppose if I did do that with, say, Variantverse, I'd find out a lot more about my own writing huh.)
