    THREAD UPDATE REMINDS ME

    I finished Leverage!! Holy shit this show is so good. I'm just gonna yell about it a bit, sorry I'm horrible at remembering episode names.

    And the OT3!! Get to stay together!!!! And keep doing their thing!!!!! I'm so happy, I thought they might've been leading up to this with the Hardison/Parker/Eliot and Nate/Sophie episodes, but yes it is so good let them keep being weird good guys.

    God I just love them so much. I really liked the bit in - I think it was the Snow Job? The one where they had to climb a mountain. And Parker was really upset because they couldn't bring the dead guy with them because Hardison would find a way to do it, and Eliot was just like, yeah, Hardison would do this, because Hardison is better than us, but we have the ability to make this choice and get out alive. And it just. Really kind of frames how Hardison is normal compared to the two of them but he's still such a valuable addition to the dynamic. ALSO, Parker trying to get Eliot to teach her how to like things in... one of the S5 episodes, I think the restaurant one, was really good.

    And Parker and Hardison figuring out how the hell a relationship even works when you're this far outside normal, working out how to navigate love while also relying on each other to save their lives and - the one where Parker had to be weighed down to steal the nuclear thing, and she was so panicked about not being able to move and Hardison talking her through it and helping her through something which was legitimately really hard for her, and then Parker turning around and talking Hardison through his claustrophobia... it's just, it's really good. It's really good!!

    And even though I'm not quite as enthused about Nate and Sophie as I am about the OT3 I really appreciated how Nate and Sophie's relationship paralleled Hardison and Parker's, figuring out how to be normal when they hadn't been normal for so long, and then - eventually going, yeah, we're done, we're getting married. I mean. I don't believe for a second they're gonna be able to stay out of the game entirely because they're them but I really want to believe that they get a nice life and are mostly stable and Sophie has a nice directing gig or something. And damn I had not even thought about whether Sophie's noble backstory might have been related to her current one but that's a really interesting theory.

    AND HARDISON AND ELIOT JUST HAVE EACH OTHER'S BACKS AND IT'S REALLY GOOD... like, god, Hardison being really upset during the terrorist episode and Eliot talking him down was just the best thing, he just believes in him so much and trusts him and it's. Really good! They give each other a lot of shit (THE SANDWICH THING THO) but like - when things are actually serious they just work together so well.

    And god I wish there'd been more of Nate mentoring Parker to replace him, because that was really good, I loved how Nate could recognise that she was really good at this even though she approached it with her own brainweirds. And I wish we'd seen more of Sophie and Parker, too, because what we did see of that relationship was really good but I feel like it just wasn't explored much compared to the normal sets.

    Okay I'm done thanks for listening to me repeat 'it's really good' over and over with different variations.

    Hi I'm reanimating this thread to say I've been working my way through the show and I'm at the start of Season 5, and I wanted to comment on the fact that in addition to the obvious callbacks in The Last Dam Job,
    remember how the Prisoner's Dilemma was a whole big thing in the Experimental Job and Nate was lecturing about how betrayal is the rational option? He didn't just set Dubemich and Latimer up to fight each other, he put them in a Prisoner's Dilemma. If neither of them went for the gun, they both could have gotten out alive, though they probably would have had to face the music. If only one did, they could pin everything on the other guy and get away clean. If both of them did, it was down to a fight. They couldn't negotiate or see other options than the ones he presented because he steered the conversation to turn them against each other, and then only gave them a split-second to make the decision.

    They both went for the rational choice.

    I'm up to season 3 on my rewatch! I absolutely have to order the DVDs at some point but Leverage was never broadcast in my region and the closest PAL DVDs I could get are from Germany.... where they dub shows. And I haven't found a DVD/BD seller that lists what voice tracks they'd have available for what season

    ;__;

    I had Leverage on my to watch list for a long while, mostly because of Jesse and Seanan McGuire geeking about it, and when I finally did start it... whoo.

    We binged two-three, sometimes four episodes nearly every night, until it ended and I flopped around emotionally and refused to start a new show for another week because I was binging fanfic to cope. (then I bought the TV tie ins, which are hilariously bad. we take turns reading them aloud and trying to make character voices. he says I do a good Parker voice. he does a good Hardison voice.)

    It is just. the best. so good. best ot3. best heists. let's go steal a fanfic.

    (speaking of fanfic. one morning I bolted up from bed with a single thought: "let's go steal an infinity stone". LEVERAGE IN SPACE.)
