It'd be really hard to get it into the shipping bin, considering Automate hates it and you can't pick it up!

Stardew Valley multiplayer went down, both the Using-Mods and Game-Support channels get so swamped in MP-related messages that they got slowmoded.

(Devs have been informed that multiplayer is down, and if you can get into the MP menu and know your friend's IP address you can connect via IP)

I am not usually a modding person, but waiting for 1.5 has got me antsy and I am looking at NexusMods. Here's a list of things I would like to try:

    - Seasonal Villager Outfits
    - Canon-Friendly Dialogue expansion for Friendable Characters
    - Part of the Community (additional ways of gaining friendship points with villagers)
    - Better Artisan Goods Icons
    - Angry Grandpa (more options for Grandpa's evaluation)
    - Skull cave elevator
    - Range display
    - Tree transplant
    - Chests Anywhere
    - Bigger Backpack
    - Prairie King Cheater

Do you know of any conflicts between these? Any hints or tips on how I should go about installing them? Any other thoughts?

I thiiink those will all be compatible? I use most of those at once with no issues but double-check the description on Bigger Backpacks. You install SMAPI, run it once to make sure it installed correctly, then just unzip all of those into the mods folder. (As in, open the zips and take out the folder in the zip and put it in your mods folder.)

Then you just run the game via SMAPI, either by running stardewmoddingapi.exe or setting your Steam launch options the way SMAPI tells you how to in the "installation complete" screen.

Yeah, those should all be compatible, because they edit different parts of the game and SDV modding is mostly good about compatibilities bc they target very specific things and nothing else.

Source: Running about 500 mods. I have made my peace with trying to make them compatible. Unless it's got a pdb file in there, I can *make* it compatible.

I've seen someone running over a thousand mods at once

Too bad SMAPI basically only counts manifests. There's basically subsections of mods from my experience.

    • Content Patcher plugins. These are your run-of-the-mill replacing of textures and adding of lines and events. Also map edits.
Compatibility issues: If two mods try to completely replace the same file, neither will be applied. This is why most of these use edit instead of load. Map edits can conflict with NPC mods due to routing.
    • JSON Assets plugins. These add new items, crafts, crops, furniture, clothing, etc etc.
Compatibility issues: If two items have the same name, you'll run into Problems. By which I mean, SMAPI will spam hard-to-parse error messages and the game will not load completely.
    • PDB Mods. These alter the game code and can do very fascinating things -- and are the highest risk of interfering with each other.

there's more frameworks than that actually!

There's farm type manager, which adds a heckton of customizablity to monster, forage, and artefact spawns on any map.
There's producer framework mod, which allows you to add or replace producing rules for any big-craftable type item.
There's TMXL Map Toolkit, which does adding maps better than Content Patcher but doesn't have the array of tokens and conditionals so a lot of map mods these days use TMXL and Content Patcher.
There's Better Farm Animal Variety, which adds new farm animals or changes the characteristics of existing farm animals - eg there's a mod that makes goats unlock before cows, a mod that adds a rare chance of getting a black sheep with a custom Black Wool product instead of a white one, and many mods that just add new animals entirely.
There's Custom Music which adds or replaces sounds and music.
There's Quest Framework which lets you add quests without too many compatibility issues.
and I'm probably forgetting a couple.

I pondered mentioning the other frameworks and then decided against it, bc I wanted a very very rough overview. But yes, those things also exist and sometimes you need all of them for cross-dependency reasons! So thank you for the addition ::D

I finally figured out why several of the mods I was running didn't show up

By which I mean I'm running Seed Shortage (aka Pierre and Sandy don't sell seeds) and Better Mixed Seeds, which *should* mean that any seeds I could buy, I can get via mixed seeds. it does not.
    EDIT ca. 10 minutes later:
so i assumed the pdb was just to trawl pierres and sandys to remove seeds and i completely forgot that configs are generated upon first modload.
does not change the fact that 7 mods are not supported and either the config edit works (lets hope) or ill have to cheat one of each seed in so i have a chance to grow them at all.

ETA: so still hardcoded but more difficult to fix. yay!

Are you sure you're not getting those seeds because of them not being in Better Mixed Seeds? You might just be having really bad luck

ETA: if they are absent from Better Mixed Seeds, tell the author!

swirlingflight inane analysis and story spinning is my passion

I get the impression the sand beach is an alternative kind of hard mode, and I'm left wondering what the average playstyle in that map is gonna be like

combat controls isn't updated yet and wow the "farmer turns/uses tool in the direction of mouse click" feature of that mod made the control scheme so much better

Here's hoping that either the PYTK and TMXL inofficial updates work, or that they'll be getting an official update within the next few days.

Not gonna start SDV until the 25th otherwise i will not be able to finish stuff for tomorrow, i know myself xxD
super looking forward to it tho
