This is such a minor star in the constellation of bullshit going on here but there is something darkly funny to me about the person who wrote Problem Sleuth and Homestuck throwing a hissy fit at someone for "jumping around the timeline" and accusatorily asking if she's PREPARED TO LISTEN TO THE STORY.

It occurs to me that some people here might not have seen Japan World Cup and might appreciate it. Finest in horse racing.

@Codeless i guess you're right, I googled john ratcliffe cosplay and john ratcliffe cosplay drama and nothing popped up. Maybe I was assuming the wrong character from what info she gave.

A musician and a carpenter try to make an electric guitar and a drum kit essentially from scratch with no experience.

My favorite part is when they take the drum kit into the studio and the studio engineers are like "this is amazing".

[EDIT] On a more serious note, here is the same musician building a guitar under the supervision (and using the machinery of) an actual luthier.

This is a podcast that's also on YouTube (for this pod i prefer youtube because they have a slideshow with diagrams and pictures and one guy scribbles on them sometimes with red pen it's gr8) called Well There's Your Problem. They mainly talk about engineering disasters. I've seen 9/11, the Pentagon attack, some bridge collapses, oil rigs, building fires etc. They're all pretty knowledgeable and or have worked in the engineering or construction industries. There's cussing, discussion of tobacco and alcohol, sometimes they talk over each other or argue about dumb things but it's not Mean. They're friends who get Spirited. But i know folks dont like people interrupting or all talking at once during a podcast. They don't do it too often. They also have very long pods, 1-3 hours. And sometimes it takes like 20 minutes to get to the main talking point cause they'll shoot the shit or get distracted.

I like them for their friendly chemistry and also how far BACK they go. For 9/11 they talked about why the towers were built, why it was kind of a dumb idea, what NYC residents thought of it at the time, the state of building and codes and fireproofing (apparently the towers fireproofing wasn't great to begin with and they'd been around for 20 years with questionable fireproofing upkeep by the time of the attack) and they also went into the rise of bin Laden. I knew he was part of a wealthy family but I didn't know how big or wealthy they were. Apparently their contracting firm has involvement in A LOT of Gulf and middle eastern projects. Learn a lot of background with them, along with the actual timeline of the disaster itself, and plenty of conspiracy debunking.

Whenever there's mention of controlled demolition in an episode they joke that Bush was there or overseeing it

I've been watching them like crazy, great background noise. Hope this helps someone with lots of time to kill.

This was a very good video. Also I like how she came after non-black fandom again. Good. Don't fucking let non-black fandom off the hook. We don't fucking deserve to be. Especially not when so many of us go "Well I'm this marginalized identity" first as a self defense.

New Quinton Reviews video, about a show I had never even heard of outside of Quinton mentioning it a few times in previous videos. I can’t imagine I’d ever willingly sit through Victorious under any remotely normal circumstances, but I’m still absolutely transfixed by his review. This guy could probably pitch just about any topic to me, and I’d be like, sure, let’s give it a go.

In the first intermission he has somehow managed to make me feel better about McDonalds toys even though I didn’t have any particularly strong feelings about them that I was aware of? I’m not complaining.

Quinton is absolutely the best and I want nothing more than to listen to him and his dad talk about tv shows because they seem to have an adorable relationship.

I realized part of the way through that I recognized the janitor's closet, and I even knew exactly why:

Because I was totally unfamiliar with the show and it's not even in the video title, I didn't have the faintest clue what the scene was from. It didn't occur to me that that information would even be noteworthy because the point about how utterly alien the conversational timing is in shows intended to have laugh tracks doesn't need me to know.

I've now seen a downright ridiculous amount about this show I never intend to watch, and I think that's pretty great. I even stopped to look up Jade and Cat's karaoke duet so I could better appreciate Quinton's point about the showrunners not letting either of them but especially Cat sing much at all, and particularly not in too close proximity to Tori. They did indeed hire outstanding singers and then were super obvious about treating it like a threat to the very premise of the show, that Tori was the shining star. It does feel like a lethal lack of trust in both the actor, whom I feel pretty bad for over this, especially since I can't imagine all this overcompensation wouldn't negatively affect her as a singer and performer in general, and also in the audience, who apparently can't be allowed to understand it as an informed ability and suspend disbelief if they think Jade and Cat are better singers.

i’ve never watched Defunctland before (though i’ve heard good things about the channel), but its history of Disney’s FastPass system is excellent:

Not knowing about Fastpass+ when going to Disney World was uh. Not a fun time. We did thankfully manage to swing one for I think it was Space Mountain but like. Still. It was absolutely hellish navigating that fucking site and having to look at some stupid phone app constantly.
