Perhaps the only thing worse than reading the words of a crackpot is reading the words of those who are trying to reason with the crackpot, because then in addition to you losing braincells from the reflected crackpottery, it's also depressing.
Being one of those people trying to reason with the crackpot is also braincell-killing and depressing, but by voluntarily talking to them, you've made your own bed.

When something incomprehensible happens at work and you're just like "Do we have an internal Yelp or something that I can leave a review on? I need to let that department know that I don't understand any of the decisions that they've made."

This would have been a minor inconvenience at most if I could have predicted that they would do this, but what could possibly have motivated them to do so? Never mind the crackpot, this is going to kill all of my braincells. I'm so confused that it's sublimating into rage.
Next time someone tries to move a piece of equipment I'm going to follow them around with a carving knife and a blowtorch and demand written justification for every time they even look at anything.

Instead of telling people that I'm on a spectrum of some sort, maybe autism, maybe ADHD, maybe ace or agender or whatever the fuck, I'm instead just going to start saying that I'm "spectral" and refusing to elaborate.
I would definitely believe that "spectral" was a euphemism for "homosexual" from like the 1890s or whatever.

Alternatively, I could tell people that I'm on an A spectrum.

A few details from the Kannazuki ni Miko manga that didn't make it into the anime

-Chikane was more explicitly on the antisocial spectrum somewhere. Not just "fucked up", but rather that she cares about precisely one person, without even seeing that person as a person.

-The village was basically an entire cult of Orochi worshippers. It wasn't just the two priestesses, at least not this time around; there was an entire cult, including all of the Himemiya family, that were essentially grooming Chikane so that she would willingly destroy the world.

-The Heads of Orochi were really kind of a sideshow; whether or not they appeared is almost irrelevant, given the pressure that Chikane, and thus by extension Himeko, were under to take up the priestess roles.

I think those bits make the manga somewhat more interesting than the anime. I mean, besides the focus on the characters over the mecha fights.
It's been a while, so I don't remember if there were any noteworthy bits about Himeko that didn't get adapted.

The thing about Trump owing half a billion dollars to mysterious unknown parties is that yes, that does make him a threat to national security, but he's never really been all that coy about being a threat to national security. He'll happily admit to telling all sorts of people all sorts of classified information, which is why his intelligence agencies are so leery of giving him classified information.
Yes, it's important to have this in writing, because now it can be officially acted upon, but it's not really news in the sense of "things people didn't know". We knew that Trump leaked like a fishnet canteen; now we have a motive in addition to damning evidence and cheerful confession.

I want to make a joke about that one song that goes "lipstick stains, on the" except I actually have no idea what any of the rest of the lyrics are, and I don't care about the joke enough to actually look them up.

The problem with buying a bunch of socks at once is that they all wear out at roughly the same time, so you go from having plenty of socks to having no socks over the course of what feels like a week.

That Trump as a threat thing is so textbook perfect though. Not only is it very specific, he fought tooth and nail for years to hide it even after it was too late and everyone kinda knew. That's a Mr. Blackmailable Award in the mail.

Following on about my post on the metaphorical significance of Quantum Mechanics, I feel like not enough people know about Galilean Relativity. The gist is, it follows the mathematical laws of Newtonian Mechanics, and all of the observations are the same, except in Newtonian mechanics, there is a specific frame with respect to which everything is measured, and in Galilean Relativity there isn't. In Newtonian Mechanics, there is a definite notion of "object at rest" that is philosophically, if not observably, distinct from "object in motion", and in Galilean Relativity there is only "at rest with respect to".
For Newton, this is absolute reference frame is the frame of the luminiferous aether, the substance that carries light; other than the wobbling that is waves of light, the aether is fixed, and everything is measured against it. Digging in to his religious views a bit, this is also the reference frame of God; what God considers to be an object at rest is in fact not moving, and what God considers to be an object in motion is in fact in motion.
The difference between Galilean Relativity and Einsteinian Special Relativity is that in Galilean Relativity there is no fixed finite speed. Relative time and relative distance are the same for all reference frames in Galilean Relativity, whereas they are not for Einsteinian Relativity because of the need to keep the speed of light constant and finite. Notably, if you set the speed of light to infinity in Einsteinian Special Relativity, you get Galilean Relativity.
There is also the fourth option: fixed, finite speed of light, and an absolute reference frame. This is the mechanics of Poincare and Lorentz, who already knew the mathematics of Einsteinian Special Relativity decades before Einstein, but still believed in the absolute reference frame of God and the luminiferous aether. Einstein's contribution was not mathematical in the least; it was one of ontology.

Anyway the point of this is that you don't have to go to the weirdness of Einsteinian Special Relativity to get relativity; you can get a mechanics that gives the same observational predictions of Newton without the absolute reference frame, and I think that's a more precise analogy for other forms of relativism, if not necessarily one that is less scary for those who believe themselves to occupy the absolute reference frame.

I'm going to switch away from this track for like half a year and when I open it up again I'm going to be completely sideswiped by the fact that it samples the phrase "obligatory quote from some old sci-fi movie" from the Strong Bad techno email. Not anything from the actual Strong Bad Techno track, just that phrase from the sketch, because I'm a sucker for meta.

I'm the kind of board-game player that if I were to play Among Us with basically any of my friend groups, they would immediately all vote to eject me even if I'm innocent because they don't trust me to not deliberately turn the discussions into recursive messes.
I mean, I definitely brought this on myself, given that my playing style is definitely to sow unnecessary dissension and reap the chaos, so I don't blame them at all.
