As it happens, that's exactly what I just ordered! Although I really, really love the orange ones, the others won't look quite as gross when they get grimy.

I had some brief thoughts of buying all three pairs, but... naaaah. I would have seriously considered it if I was doing work that required me to be on my feet a lot, but the days of that being viable have passed.

Me, three months ago: ok my screen is starting to literally come off, I should probably replace my phone?

Me now: ok so the screen only turns the backlight on when I push the home button and I have to push the power button to get it to actually display, and it goes all weird and glitchy unless I push on it just so... I should probably replace my phone?

I know I need to get one Soon -- the state of my current phone aside, supply chain issues are going to make new ones harder to get -- but I keep dithering. Oh no, I don't want to support an Evil Corporation -- but both camps are evil so there's no way around that. Not being able to use wired headphones is a bummer but wired ones make noise every time I move so is that really a loss? iOS is less of a pain in the ass for me to use but Androids can make NFCs, which means making my own bootleg Amiibos, buuuut I haven't played ACNH in months so is that really a feature?

I keep going on and on and on in circles like that. X(

I'm sure you know this perfectly well, but in case it helps to hear it again, there is no ethical consumption under capitalism. Shifting blame to the disenfranchised for being unable to afford to make greener or less neocolonialist decisions is a stalling tactic at best. The problem with society is not you, and cannot be fixed by you in this way.

Popular culture loves to demand that poor and/or disabled people prove their misery, as if it's replacement currency. It's sick. Evil corporations don't need our support. The effect we have either way is negligible, except in what it does to us. Our misery buys nothing. We're not suffering to bring down the man. Capitalism only benefits if vulnerable people end up stuck in a loop of depriving ourselves for no particular purpose.

If it would make your life easier, go ahead and replace your phone.

Thank you, Verily. I do know all that but it helps to hear it nonetheless, as I can't reasonably do without a phone -- even without all the handy features of a smartphone (like... alarms), I still need a way to get phonecalls and text messages.

(Suddenly reminded of how surprised I was when I moved here in 2005 and private landlines were already uncommon. Not sure how long it took them to become uncommon in the US... are they uncommon in the US now?)

I'd say millennials and younger gen x who move houses don't tend to ever sign up for a landline, at least among my friends. It's an extra expense to be more annoyed. My household only has a landline when the internet is up because VoIP is part of our internet service, and it has call forwarding to be accessible from a cellphone.

I have this very strange problem that happens so rarely I'm not sure if it happens even once a year , but when it does it's a real bummer -- a patch of my scalp about the size of my palm (on the right side of the crown of my head) starts having twinges of sharp pain. It's just the scalp, not into or under my skull like a headache, and just on that patch of it. It doesn't seem to have any particular trigger, and it's definitely more of a nerve-y pain than a skin surface irritation.

I was telling J about it and he looked at it (which I never thought of trying to do before for... some reason) and said that the skin there is all reddened. It's been happening for a few hours now and that patch of scalp is now very tender and unhappy, and I'm wondering how well I'm going to be able to sleep if this keeps up. X(

My experience making political call lists is that at least in my area, most people over about 60 are still using their land lines, but most people under 35 or so aren't.

I accidentally allergened myself last night (I suspect it's whatever the takeout place fried the rice noodles in so I'll be getting plain white rice from now on) and feel a w f u l today BUT!! I managed to drag myself outside to fetch my shoe order and I'm happy to say that they're just as vibrant as on the website and fit nicely.

Now I need to consider my trouser situation, as while I have a pair of jeans and a pair of black chinos, they're both a little, uh, small. :X

Winner for shoes, witnessed for food fuckery. I've noticed a definite trend in food places starting to use soybean oil for frying >:T

Wore the purple pair out on a walk, despite being aware of how it's a bad idea to wear shoes a lot before they're broken in, with predictable results. Told J my heels looked pretty bad, but he was shocked today when I showed him how bad they actually are. He was like, you didn't really say anything and you didn't walk like you were in pain! And yeah, well. That's the trouble with having a high pain tolerance; for various reasons, I've learned to power through things I probably shouldn't. But what was I going to, sit down and refuse to move when we were still a kilometer from anywhere?

Anyway, my heels are pretty torn up and it sucks!

I left that FC I'd been invited to on Mateus, figuring that if I was mostly ignored so far I wouldn't be missed, and so far my absence as not been noted. lol oh well. I feel better anyway -- I'd rather not be in an FC than be in one and be ignored.

I've been playing an awful lot lately, though... I guess autumn doldrums are starting to set it. I should dig my light therapy lamp out and make room for it on my desk, I suppose.

New phone get! The screen on the old one suddenly refusing to display unless I did an arcane series of home + power button presses and tilted the screen around finally broke down the last of my resistance. Went ahead and got the iPhone 2020 SE in red, and they're currently transferring data. Then I just need to move the sim card, and I'm good!

Last night I had a sudden inspiration for a Headless Horseman-inspired set of outfits for Iolis, so I bought one of the pumpkin heads and today put together a series of glams:

I'm so pleased. I only wish the chestpiece in the top picture wasn't ranged, striking, and scouting exclusive since it's PERFECT for the look, but I made do with a different one (bottom right) for healers and casters.

I also made one for tank, but only got a good tank specific chestpiece for that after I'd already taken these, so I'll have to take more later.

I get the distinct impression that some people in my FC think I am quite stupid, which is extremely grating (to say the least). But then, some of these same people think my fantastically witty and funny friend in the same FC is quite stupid, so at least I'm in good company. :V

Sometimes I regret making an effort to casualize my language and writing without caps and much punctuation, but if I'm honest with myself I don't think writing 'properly' would have changed much. One of the real 'problems' is that I am not in the Raiding Clique, and therefore must be a bad player, and therefore stupid.

    Gamers were a mistake!

Would love it if my little idiots would stop having tantrums early in the morning, thus waking me up and ruining my sleep so I end up sleeping way too long to make up for it. I'd LOVE it.

The inability of people to understand that the game lingo they find totally clear is pretty obtuse for people who haven't been raiding since the base game came out drives me up the wall. Like good for you if you first heard 'clock positions' and instantly knew that it didn't refer to a particular weird mechanic but people standing at cardinals and intercardinals, like... a compass...
    :psyduck:

But then again I'm also pissy because my eyelid is infected again and the bottom lid is getting in on it. I still have antibiotic cream from the first go around (I used it as directed, it just only used up not quite half the tube) so I'm going through that again and praying that this time it works.

Wait wait looking it up, this stuff is supposed to be applied every 3 hours, but my instructions said to apply 1 cm worth in the evenings?! What... ;_; UGH. I hope this doesn't cause me more problems, and I hope I have enough...

Woke up this morning early because cat, got up and looked at my eye and was like "Maybe I should get an emergency appointment" and just as I was leaving thebathroom was hit with an IMMENSE wave of nausea and vertigo. I headed bak to bed post-haste and laid there worrying for a while before I fell back to sleep. When I woke up again I still felt icky, and I was still worried until I thought about it a bit and realized... I didn't really eat enough last night. I skipped my usual late light supper because I didn't feel all that hungry, but even when I don't feel that hungry, if I don't eat very, very regularly, I get bouts of vertigo until I do. Of course I shouldn't be skipping meals anyway, but the feeling extremely sick every time I do thing is recent enough I'm still getting used to it and it catches me by surprise.
