I made this thread because I couldn't find one about movies in general, or movie hype, and I wanted to see if anyone else is interested in Five Feet Apart when it comes out?

Again, this can be about, and for, any movie. Cause it's fun to talk about things. Use this as a movie rec thread too! I know I love recs for just about any entertainment.

I'm interested in how the CF community will view Five Feet Apart, and how respectful it will end up being to the disorder. Also Cole Sprouse. Listen, tiny me had a huge crush on the Sprouse twins. I grew up with The Suite Life. Although the character does kinda remind me of the love interest from Heathers and that is a smidgen concerning. Hopefully that's just cause he pushes against the rules and has dark hair.

What are some other recent/upcoming movies ya'll are interested in? I think the movie market has been pretty interesting lately, not in blockbusters as much, but theres a few somewhat-mainstream movies that have been about some interesting topics. Though how well they portrayed those topics varied.

Does anyone know any recent happy LGBT movies? From what I've gathered about Love Simon it looks kinda...not dark but grayish. I want more fluff, if possible.

I haven't got any recent happy LGBT movie recs but I'll keep an eye out!

I hadn't heard of Five Feet Apart but I watched the trailer and now I'm interested. I don't know much about CF but from the trailer it seems they're coming at it from a pretty serious angle and not just treating it as a gimmick. And as far as reasons for two people who like each other to stay physically apart, it seems pretty compelling, and I do like stories where the thing that keeps people apart is a real, serious issue. So yeah, that's going on my to-watch list.

My current movie interest is Swing Kids - not the 1993 film, a South Korean movie that's coming out in December. I'm super hyped for it and really hope it's as fun as it looks in the trailers.

    (Other trailers here and here.)

I'm looking forward to it it because tap dancing! action! interesting history! Also the director is known for his black comedies, one of the American actors (Jared Grimes) is an actual Broadway dancer, and I've been following the lead actor (Do Kyung-soo) since he had a small-ish but significant role in a miniseries in 2015. I really liked what he did with his character back then and I'm really liking the glimpses of his character in the trailer. Basically I'm excited about nearly everything in this movie.

Has anyone else here seen Baahubali 1 and 2? They're both my favorite movies ever. Like. Bar none the top two movies I have ever seen.

Just watched It Follows. Very good film. Managed to utilize a heavy amount of shit from the 80's slasher film but in a way that felt fresh and interesting. Really loved how it portrayed sex based supernatural horror with the film language of sex based slasher horror. Good, good shit.

Also wow is it a show of what wide angle lens and clever filmmakers can do for the look of the film. 2 million was the budget. The look is something that looks much more expensive. CLEVER, CLEVER.

And just in general. It was really good to see my favorite subgenre of horror from my favorite era of horror given that sort of love. The only thing I love half as much as slasher are westerns. And that's only half as much.

Realizing I should probably elaborate. Baahubali is a Bollywood film, action hero type genre. There's a mixture of campy silliness in dialogue/situation and absolutely STUNNING writing and cinematography as well as some downright incredible choreography in terms of the fight scenes which are plentiful. It is about a (fucking gorgeous) man who grows up in a rural village seemingly blessed with unearthly strength. This little town gets raided by people that he's never seen before, he is fighting and is aided by a strange (also fucking gorgeous, did I mention just about everyone that's not Entirely Too Old in this movie is fucking hot) woman in a mask who quickly runs away but leaves her mask behind. Eventually, after time fantasizing and looking, he finds her again and is pulled in to The Resistance, a group of refugees dedicated to fighting the Evil King of the once great city Mahishmati (god I hope I spelled that right). All in all pretty standard plot? It's the fucking writing that makes it (that combined with Hot People showing off their absurd strength and skillfullness, the main character literally scales a waterfall with next to no equipment), it manages to pretty perfectly encapsulate the concept of being silly when it can, being fun always, and being serious and tense a Lot but done in a way such that there's a lot of real concern for these characters, and the heavy moments are SO fucking heavy, they're done exquisitely. They don't cut away, they don't over-do it, they just show you plain and simple what happens in this war, and a war it does become.

    Edit: THIS
    [IMG]
is a human catapult, and is on the list of glorious and impossible bullshit that happens in these movies.

I rented it from Amazon Prime for $2-3 per movie for like a week long rental I think? Rented only because I hadn't seen them before and didn't know much about them and didn't want to buy what I didn't necessarily want. As for like. Streaming sites? I have no clue. I imagine it would be pretty difficult to find given that the official release which I rented was not available in English, only English subtitles. I'm not the best person to ask about finding movies and shows other than their official places, usually I'm the one doing the asking XD. But really though, if you only watch it once, the rental was SO worth it, and I fully plan to buy them when money allows.
