    I'm getting super nervous—starting next week, I'll be packing lunches for my partner to bring to her job, and I'm not entirely sure what I should go with. I think I might start with eggs? something simple I can set up the night before? any suggestions on that because oh boy does she have to be up early

    Aside from asking her her tastes, hardboiled eggs are gr8 because they can be made in a batch beforehand

    other than that, along with rice and like apples, i'm out of ideas, i lean on like instant oatmeal packets and granola bars personally

    @keltka

    Does your partner have access to a microwave?

    If yes, packing leftovers in a glass container is easiest. She can grab it from the fridge in the morning and heat it up when she has a lunch break.

    If no, how much do you know how to cook and how many spoons do you have available on any given day?

    I know all the basics of cooking, and a bit past (probably?) for instance, I can make an ugly omelet or decent-looking scrambled eggs, I know how to cook a steak and most other kinds of meat, bake a quiche, make spaghetti, etc—given a recipe, I can generally get something done, but if it takes me more than one attempt it's a no-go
    not sure about the microwave, I'll probably ask...

    Today, 1/15/19, I brought to work
    • Skyr
    • Strawberries
    • Carrots and hummus
    • A granola bar
    I don't normally eat granola bars but someone in the family decided a BOGO deal was too good to pass up... otherwise I would have brought almonds.

    @keltka
    If she doesn't have access to a microwave, that's fine too. Packing 4 snacks that can be kept cold and/or eaten at room temperature is fine too. My meal today is like that. Crackers and cheese, fruit, snap peas, etc. are other good options.

    I’ve been eating two cliff bars every day for lunch, which is... probably not ideal. The place I used to work had very good sales on them and I got in the habit.

    I used to bring ramen for lunch - raw ramen, the seasoning packet, peas or shredded cabbage, and a sliced hardboiled egg in a tupperware with a little extra soy sauce and garlic, and then I’d microwave it at work. Maybe I’ll start doing that again. I could add some meat as well, since I’m not a vegetarian anymore.

    How did you guys got started with meal prep? I would probably benefit from bringing my own lunches to college to avoid junk food but I just have no clue about anything, ever

    Today, 1/17/19, I brought to work
    • Skyr
    • 3 oz of carrots and hummus
    • 1 oz almonds
    Ran out of fruit so here I am.

    @witchknights
    I started with meal prep by going to justbento.com and reading stuff there and buying Makiko Itoh's two books called The Just Bento Cookbook and The Just Bento Cookbook 2. The subreddit r/MealPrepSunday is inspirational but I don't like eating the same thing everyday for a week.

    • cottage cheese + blueberries
    • olive oil and basalmic vinegar triscuits
    • 2x chocolate macnut snacks

    tomorrow she doesn't have to go to work or school so we'll be Chilling

    Last week's lunches were kind of fail so I didn't mention them, but this week I figured out something good:

    [IMG]
    [IMG]

    Top has a slice of spinach and goat cheese quiche, clementine slices, dried cranberries, and pecans. Bottom is stuffed with a cold rice noodle and mung bean salad with homemade peanut sauce.
