Told my boss my last day would be March 16, and as she was leaving later she told me she wished I was staying. She makes me feel awkward about leaving because I know she’s going to keep bringing this up, but at least she didn’t start crying.

Not sure if this Kindle writer has a robot fetish or if he just thinks lack of emotion and a lot of polysyllabic words is how all smart people talk.

The way the keyboard on my phone is set. Up I accidentally hit. Periods instead of spaces and I can't really be bothered. To keep fixing it so now I have this sentence fragment thing going on. It is obnoxious perhaps but I guess this is my. Existence now. None of those previous periods were staged that is how my typing ends. Up.

Saw Alita: Battle Angel in 3D last night. It was everything I was hoping it would be.

Yesterday in class I said shints and tades instead of tints and shades and my classmate and I cracked up and even my teacher overheard and got a good chuckle out of it

After a bunch of "Japan is weird" jokes I got curious about what the Japanese think is weird about the West, and I found this pamphlet.

A line which perfectly captures why the Alpha Male trope annoys me:

I'll admit, I'm kind of laughing at the line about the Alpha Male trope destroying suspension of disbelief in horror/scifi readers--in my experience with post-apoc fiction and a lot of male authors in the scifi scene, the only difference between the Male Protagonist of a speculative fiction novel and the Alpha Male of the romance novel is whether or not the author puts in the effort to make him sexually attractive to the female audience.

It's a good post about the characterization tropes and expectations around them, though.

(Reading some of their other posts, I'm getting the feeling that they don't think much of the romance genre at all, which is unfortunate, because it leads to exactly these kinds of blind spots. Shifting the Idealized Male from the spotlight to the love interest role does not magically make him a different kind of Idealized Male, it just makes him one with lingering attention on his pecs, most of the time.)
