NSFW 18+ Dramatis Transformae - How Many Ways Can I Write Robots Crying

  1. Nichrome of Iacon

The intercomm-systems of the ship crackle online with a bit of static. There is a bit of shuffling before a voice starts talking.

"This is your captai-... This is your co-captain Nichrome speaking. Report to the Auditorium for a briefing! We have found organic signatures on a nearby planet and someone is insisting on making a detour. Something about being out of the sun for too long. I repeat: Everyone report to the Auditorium for a briefing!"

    -

Nichrome has taken the stage, waiting with narrowed optics for his... for the crew to trickle in. On the one hand he was not amused about the derail. The mandate by Lord Starscream was quite unambiguous. On the other hand he couldn't really tell how some organics on this planet were different from the ones they were supposed to be traveling to. So with a roll of his optics he had given Swiftwing his vote when it came to this little... Day trip.

Life Support stands behind Nichrome, scrolling slowly through a medical journal on his datapad. Who knew how long this crew would take to gather, really? And he hated wasting time, or being pulled from his research. This way he could at least keep up with what was happening at home - not much, as it turned out, but worth a look nonetheless.

He directed a sigh at Nichrome. "I know you're irritated, but is passive-aggression really the way to go about showing it?" Really, what was wrong with a little politeness these days? The war was over. Wasn't that the whole point of this trip?

  3. Arsenia

Arsenia Security Officer and Caminus Representative

Arsenia leaned against the doorframe leading into the auditorium and fiddled with her blaster. To the ships credit she hadn't actually had to use the blaster yet, but she figured it was better safe than sorry when it came to putting that many mechs and femmes in one room. Her brief time on Cybertron was enough to make her realize that putting enough Cybertronians in a room together was cause enough to think something bad might happen. She continued to scan the crowd as others filed in, and when she finally decided that things were safe enough she waved at Nichrome before taking a seat near the back of the auditorium.

Nichrome glared up at the large medic.
"Right. Next time I'll make sure to be active-aggressive, Autobot," he grumbled.
He knew he couldn't expect the oiled precision and discipline of a Decepticon warcruiser from their motley little diplomatic delegation, but... well.
It took the crew long enough to finally arrive. One of the first was Arsenia. Who waved. Nichrome smiled under his faceplate, waving back. So they were at least in safe hands. ot that anyone seemed likely to stage mutiny.

  5. Jetski came in much as he usually did- unannounced and mostly unnoticed, taking a seat at the edge of the gathering. It had taken him a bit of time to persuade his pet to stay put in his hab suite, and he'd been fairly relieved to find he wasn't actively late. Especially since this promised to be a genuinely interesting briefing. He was quite looking forward to being back on a planet; it was frankly very strange to be cooped up on a spaceship where the only breezes you got came from other mechs' fans when you ended up in the middle of a crowd, somehow, again.
Which was partly why he was sitting at the edge of things. He paused, looked around as subtly as he could, then rested his ankle on his other thigh and linked his hands behind his head. Felt... good, to spread out a bit.

"I'm not really an Autobot any more," Life Support said, "but I suppose it takes some time for everyone to get used to that." Uncharitably, he thought that perhaps that was the reason he preferred to socialize with the colonials - not having been in the conflict, they were much more easily able to put it aside. He went back to the article he was reading while the auditorium slowly filled. He didn't really have much to say in this particular briefing - while he didn't hate organics unreasonably, his focus was decidedly not on them.

  7. Congessi

    Congessi problem child

Naturally, the announcement rang out almost as soon as Congessi had locked her quarters; the spindly mech slumped, venting quietly. Of course she'd have to go deal with more crowds right after getting off-shift. Why wouldn't the universe work that way?

...Alright, dealing with crowds on a regular basis was probably a better life choice than dealing with giant toothy beasts on a regular basis, but. Crowds. The whole crew (and sludge if it didn't feel odd to use that word for more than a handful of mechs) was going to be there, and all three captains, and-- just. Ugh.

There was no way of getting around it, though. Not when the call to gather had gone to the whole ship. Whining, she stepped back out into the corridor and went to work resetting the doorframe traps. That done...

    Auditorium. Right. Meeting.
    ---
Gess did not sneak into the auditorium like a ruinfinder. She walked in like a perfectly normal mech, thank you very much, and only checked her seat for traps. (It was a shame none of them backed right up on the wall, but... better than standing for however long this meeting lasted. Her knees weren't built for that.) It was easy enough to find a chair in the top ring, at least. If the rest of the crew wanted to be right up next to the captains, good for them-- it meant more space up here for her.

"Just because you aren't wearing the badge anymore doesn't mean the last four million years don't count anymore." Nichrome hissed quietly, optics firmly turned to the gathering crowd, trying to check who was there already and who was still missing.

  9. Silverweave of Helex

Silverweave of Helex Ship Mechanic & Tech Support | 18+

Silverweave hated briefings, really he hated any gathering that consisted of more than maybe two other bots including himself. There were multiple reasons for this, most of them relating back to Silverweave hates people, and it really did take a herculean effort on his part to pull himself away from his busy work. It was such important work, something that he should really get back too, but he supposed that he would humor Nichrome and leave his reading to be finished later.

He arrived with a haughty kind of air, head up with a scowl crossing his lips. Already there were too many bots and this led him to hang around the outer edges, still standing despite the available seats. After all, he was the mechanic and if anything went wrong he'd have a wonderful excuse to leave.

  10. Swiftwing

    Swiftwing Co-Captain, Velocitron Representative |18+

Despite being the entire reason for the detour, Swiftwing was not very invested in seeing the whole crew gathered for the briefing. Debreifing? It was hard to remember which one was which. He'd stepped away for a moment to check their course, but quickly made himself comfortable (and as innocent looking as possible) beside his two co-captains. They could handle the hard stuff and do the petty sniping for him. His job was to have wonderful ideas and look pretty.

Besides, organics! That was the entire point of this trip right? And if there was a bit of self-interest involved there, that was his business and no one else's. He brightened his smile to its full intensity just in case though-- best to make this look like everyone should be enjoying it. Even if the crew and command staff seemed to be chronically grumpy whenever it came to interacting with him.

  11. Nichrome of Iacon

Nichrome of Iacon Co-Captain, Decepticon Representative | 18+

Nichrome was scanning the crowd, checking it against the crew list mentally. Just like how his C.O.s always did it. Not drawing attention publicly to who was missing, but noting it and writing them up later. Seems like almost everyone has come though. Nichrome reboots his voice box audibly. Almost automatically he assumes a parade rest drawing himself up to his full height, as short as that may be.
"Attention!" he snaps, trying to copy the authoritarian tone of voice he was so familiar with hearing, as well as possible.
"As already mentioned, we have organic signatures on the planet scan. Considering that we've been travelling non-stop for a while, I assume at least some of you will feel like taking a little walk.
Mission briefing is as follows: As per mandate we will approach any settlements as carefully and nonthreateningly as possible. No visible weapons, no intimidating altmodes. The ground-team will stick together as a group for now, no one flies, drives or rolls solo without getting explicit permission from either of us three, understood? If you have to seperate from the group and you are a non-combatant take someone with you who can defend you. Group formation will also have noncombatants towards the back. Non-vehicle altmodes and monoformers stick to someone who can carry them in emergency cases. We won't assume this is a hostile environment, but we are prepared for the possibility.
The first gravity readings look good, we shoud be fine without surface tethers. The TEAM will remain in orbit and we take a shuttle to the surface, as per procedure.
Any questions before I announce the ground-team for this mission?"
    He scans the crowd.

  12. Arsenia

Arsenia Security Officer and Caminus Representative

"Captain?" Arsenia asked, raising her hand as an afterthought, "Do large staffs count as viable weapons? Like if I pretended I was using it as a walking stick would it be okay?" Sure she'd keep blasters in her subspace, but it was always nice to keep something in her hands just in case. Even if the organic signatures just ended up being plant life or animals they could still prove dangerous, and it was her job to protect the crew regardless.

  13. Silverweave of Helex

Silverweave of Helex Ship Mechanic & Tech Support | 18+

Silverweave let out a long world-weary sigh, crossing all four arms over his chest. His head tipped to the side as a bit of a sneer worked its way into his expression, he didn't want to leave the ship. It was obvious he was displeased, as he'd gone from his usual 'mild hate of everything' to an expression of angry annoyance.

"I do hope you don't expect me to be part of your 'ground team'." Silverweave even took the time to make air quotes around the words, "Unless there's another mechanic around that I'm unaware of it seems incredibly unwise to pull me away from my very important business for a little foray onto some dinky little planet."

  14. Swiftwing

    Swiftwing Co-Captain, Velocitron Representative |18+

Stepping forward, Swiftwing made a gesture he hoped looked suitably grand. Too many questions were happening and he just wanted to go already. "Since this is a voluntary excursion, no one is 'expected' to do anything except have fun and be safe. Staffs should be fine! They're only organics, they can't be that smart."

He considered that for a moment, then amended his statement. "Organics without notable space travel, at least. What's the worst they could do?"

"Yes thank you, Swiftwing. The staff should not pose a problem."
Then Nichrome levels a glare at Silverweave.
"The ship will be fine without your attention for a while, Ex-Con. I'd much prefer it if you would accompany us. Your altform may prove advantageous in certain terrains." He explains.

  16. Jetski muffled a giggle at Swiftwing's confident assertion about organics. He was a great guy, but had pretty clearly never been chased across a lake by something with big teeth and an uncanny ability to predict one's every move. He fidgeted a little, hoping he'd be included in the party, and peered around; he could see a few people looking just as hopeful.

  17. Congessi

    Congessi problem child

Congessi's optics dimmed for a moment while she thought, but... no, the only question she had was the makeup of the away team, and that would be revealed soon enough. It wasn't worth vocalizing for.

She had to admit, the idea of going planetside was... appealing, even with organics on the horizon. There would be things like 'natural air currents' and perhaps 'flexible footing'. (Theoretically 'new data' and 'solitude' as well, but she wasn't getting her hopes up on those counts.) It would be nice to be an Eye again, even as rearguard.

...assuming she was even part of the team. She flexed a talocrural joint, waiting for everyone to be done asking their questions.

  18. Life Support of Iacon

Life Support of Iacon Co-Captain, Autobot Rep, CMO | 18+

When the quiet had grown to nearly oppressive levels, Life Support coughed gently. "Well, that would seem to be that. Who's ground team for this mission, co-captain?"

He knew he would have to be included, as the only fully-trained medical officer aboard at the moment. Things were much more likely to go catastrophically wrong on an unknown planet than on-board, no matter how peaceful it appeared. If nothing else, the terrain could be hazardous. He would be bored, but hopefully there would be someone interesting to talk to. And some of the crew looked curious, even eager. He smiled slightly at Jetski behind his mask.

Nichrome of Iacon Co-Captain, Decepticon Representative | 18+

Nichrome's attention snapped back to the room at large, relenting on the attempt to stare Silverweave down.
"The Ground Team will be as follows: Since it was Swiftwing's idea he has command. Life Support on Medic Duty. Congessi, you will be monitoring the portable scanners for signs of danger. Furthermore Arsenia, Jetski and Silverweave and myself to cover for any retreats we might need to make should things turn out to be hostile. I'm assuming you know how to shot a blaster, Jetski?" he addressed the green mech.

  20. Jetski flashed a pretty smile at Life Support when he caught the expression aimed at him, more or less out of habit, and perked up immediately when his name was mentioned as being part of the team. Get in! Finally a chance to get some fresh air, and- tote a blaster, apparently.
It was probably lucky that he had practice not letting his smile slip at any provocation, as his mind raced wildly for a way to cover up the fact that he'd never touched anything capable of killing anything in his life.
...It couldn't be too hard, he decided (just like lying about his altmode hadn't been hard. Part of him whispered uneasily, and he sat on it, hard), and he wasn't going to pass up the chance to be in the mission. He hiked up the smile a notch and said, "Absolutely! Glad to be part of the team!"
