i just updated the boat trolls log and announced it over on tumblr, but i'm spending way more time on kintsugi these days, so i figured i'd make a thread where i can announce log updates over here too. and, idk, answer questions, in or out of character, and post art sometimes perhaps, and maybe we can all cry about galley a little bit. what is boat trolls? ... are boat trolls? what's going on? the boat trolls are a bunch of homestuck fantrolls that @Vast Derp , @rainbowbarnacle and i, along with tumblr users roachpatrol and halibaal, and the very occasional guest writer, have been roleplaying for -- how long now? two years? three? here is the archive table of contents page. there is a LOT of rp log there. also a ton of gorgeous art, and a ton of silly art, and elsewhere on the net there are a couple spinoff au's, one humanstuck and one with an inverted hemospectrum. this has been my number one hobby for quite a while now. perhaps some of y'all will enjoy it. :)
Aaaaaa I love boat trolls. Back when I had spoons (AHAAHHAHAHA. HA. HAHA.) I had a character that interacted very briefly with Bel. She still exists in my mental clade of fantrolls but she's such a shut in she was probably a bad choice for an RP char (even if it gave her an excuse to be attached to her husktop)

Yep! An amber nautilus. She was all excited about one of the (great many) shipwrecks being an Important one because history is great! But then life + Tumblr's increasingly awful ui and I couldn't keep up. But I've still been following the story and it makes me squee a lot. I want to hug Galley at least once every five posts.
it's what happens when a mini-griffin gets left alone with a beaver-wolverine, and then some weeks later the mini-griffin lays an egg... D: no one knows what it is. we've just been calling it the fluffcheep. in the rp it hasn't even hatched yet, bel's carrying the egg around while on a very serious mission of death and manpain. because being a grim and heavily armed hacker superspy with a little blue speckled egg on a pillow next to you isn't ridiculous at all.

I'm doing a reread, so I'm only in Island of the Darned 7 right now But I keep getting Helmsman feels. (Also you know how when you read a book series for too long and the world starts getting in your head, and then you see a bucket in normal life and you *snrk* for no apparent reason, and you start having dedicated conversations with yourself about whether this relationship is a moirallegiance or just a really pale matespritship? I am getting that from the boat trolls. I had enough feelings about it that I am putting some of Bel's poems to music, even though most of them are half-assed hums. This is totally not a problem.)
Do iiiiiittt, boattrolls are amazing. Bel and galley are my red otp five-ever, and pancho is the best, most sensible take no shit moirail and her sense of humor is dry and wonderful and her girlfriend lu is silly as a squid and will do things like completely break your sobbing heart with earnest desperation and then turn around and START TELLING PUNS asdhdgak D: D: D: And jethro is appealingly sensible in much the same way pancho is, but also semi-feral and toothy and a shameless meddle-friend. And sigmah koneko who i thought was basically seebs-the-troll at first i stg, but who is equal parts scary and awkward and sweet and has a fantastically asshole lusus and also a slew of adorable psychic kittens! And Erskin motherfucking Aspera is a goddamned troubleface that makes my ashen gland itch in the worst way possible, i want to smack his stupid paranoid awful little face every time he updates and also feed him good tea and real food. >:( It is by turns hilarious and hot and badass and heartbreaking, often several at once. Go read it, it is amazing<3
i am not the least bit surprised. he's such a mess you get these pale twinges but then he's such a dang idiot about it and you want to whup him one. roach is a genius.
