I can't get over the aesthetics of this movie. This is a comic-book movie in a way that Sony and Marvel haven't touched before, not a superhero movie but a comic-book movie. If you haven't seen it, go see it. Like, sure, it's a Spiderman movie, we've got a bunch of those, but not like this. Anyway, spoilers ahead, on my part for the animation more than the plot: Spoiler I love that the comic-bookness doesn't even kick in until he gets bitten, and then suddenly there's textboxes narrating his thoughts. We in the TVTropes business call that painting the fourth wall and damn is this movie sick of wallpaper. I must have spent the first hour after seeing the movie gushing to my brother about the stylistic and animation differences between the various Spiderfolk and how it differed from most crossover events where every character is forced into a single style/genre to try to make the event blend better, and in this movie they deliberately don't do that. Noir and Ham don't even pretend to follow the same physics as the rest of them. Also the Kirby dots in the collider. This movie is such a treat.
ive tried to see this twice and it was sold out both times and im determined to do it out of sheer stubbornness now
This might actually be a movie that's better at home because there is a ton of blink-and-you-miss-it stuff so pause buttons and rewinds are nice. Which is not to say that you shouldn't try to see it on the big screen; it is an action movie after all.
I've heard it's actually better in 3d, though the theater where I saw it didn't have that option. Apparently they do cool stuff with comic book effects.
I sort of want to meet the person who genetically engineered all these spiders to seek out the nearest protagonist and bite them on the top of their left hand, because that is quite the achievement, especially the second part.
Spoiler Speaking of blink-and-you-miss-it, during the Alchemax infiltration, when they're going through the cafeteria and are recognized, all the scientists immediately shoot out of their seats and turn their briefcases into guns...except one, who just sits there continuing to drink her coffee.
Spoiler there's a part when the spidermen are escaping alchemax before they get off the building where a scientist gets hit in the face with the bagel sadparker was trying to steal and a tiny "BAGEL!" appears next to him. that was fantastic.
I've watched it twice but can't wait to get it on my computer so I can just watch it again and again and catch details like those
