Status: wrote a tiny bit more, and someone please get this dickhead to therapy, because intense and deliberate denial is really not working for him as a coping mechanism.

I need more plotbunnies to give me excuses to talk about Stocke having PTSD and constantly brushing it off as not a big deal even though he just walked out in the middle of a conversation, turned invisible, and curled up and hid for fifteen minutes. Because he has totally done that and then showed up again like nothing happened. Bonus points if I can work in PTSD over stuff he doesn't even remember.

I've left helpful replies on several of their posts, such as pointing out that Protea hates plot exposition and probably skips cutscenes when she plays video games and then complains that she doesn't know what's going on. :::PPP

 

I admit I'm also kind of *screaming internally* because my instinct is usually to jump on people posting in the tag and trying to start conversations because I am constantly starved for discussion, but when all they're doing is posting screencaps, it's. Much harder to do that. Because what do I respond to.

Well, hey. Just because I'm not actively posting about it on Tumblr right now doesn't mean I'm not up for more discussion about it. (I swear I'll get that Stocke outfit drawing done soon...)

 

In related news, @Quicksilver challenged me to write about people other than Stocke in extreme emotional distress for once, and I was like, "Fine, PTSD nightmares for everyone!" It may not ever see the light of day because it... quickly got out of hand. Turns out both royal kids are fertile ground for some really, really disturbing nightmare imagery.

 

I mean if you want to of course but I love that kind of thing so y'know

 

I started sort of sketching things in for a bunch of the party members so I had some idea where I was going, and it started out with Raynie's perfectly sensible and normal flashback nightmares where she's trapped under a pile of rocks in the dark, then Rosch having a repeated semi-lucid dream where he gets surrounded and backed against a wall and then Bad Things happen, then escalated to Eruca turning out to have dreams where people were hurt or dying and nobody seemed to notice but her (lots of Brother Dearest obviously bleeding to death) and Stocke having this mess of disjointed, violent suicide/self-harm/guilt imagery with bonus crowds of people with blurred-out faces.

The wordcount is currently very low but it... escalated quickly.

I'm going to echo that gif and OuO myself. God, you really can't overstate the mess of PTSD and survivor's guilt that is half this game's cast.

 

Especially when I'm writing them. :::PPP

But yeah, apparently in my head Stocke has nightmares where someone cuts his throat and sand pours out instead of blood, and it's possible he's the one holding the knife. I'm not even sure how I'd trigger-tag this thing if I finished and posted it.
