1. Yes, we're aware that McAfee is reporting this as a "malicious site", we don't know why. I have some indirect evidence suggesting someone filed a bogus report somewhere. In the mean time, doing some software updates. Probably safe/harmless, but things might be down occasionally until it's done.

Opened a new bank account because FUCK BB&T

The lady was very helpful and said putting Lebesgue on the account would be easy when they get there. It is a weird combo of awkward and gender affirming, being read as the butch in a lesbian relationship. I think the first thing I'm doing with my shiny new legal residence in Iowa is changing my name finally.

reading up on hyperlexia, because dang, are weird things about me cool, and also other than knowing that i am hyperlexic, i ... don't actually know much about it?

anyway apparently! there is some debate about whether hyperlexia is it's own discrete thing, or if it's a trait/subset of autism! which is fascinating! because both my sisters and i are/were hyperlexic, but i would very confidently say both of my sisters are allistic - in particular, while R and E have some of the social weirdness/awkwardness, they lack like ... all of the sensory and/or motor issues. like Not Every Sperg, but like from elementary to high school, i same fooded hard on quaker maple and brown sugar oat meal - it was the only thing i ever ate for breakfast, except for pancakes on sundays, and when quaker changed the formula i damn near had a meltdown - and R was always very "what the fuck. don't you get bored?" R and E also do not grok my dad and i's auditory processing issue, and R in particular picks fights with my dad about it.

anyway it's funny to me because we didn't actually know we were hyperlexic until our brother was born. we knew we'd all started reading a bit early (R took a bit of a detour because her astigmatism developed early but didn't get diagnosed for several years, and so she couldn't focus on pages properly and it gave her headaches), but W was months behind us, enough that when mom took him to see a specialist (he has leopard's syndrome, and she was afraid he was being developmentally delayed because of it) and voiced her concerns, the doctor looked at her and was like "why... would he even be reading yet. he's not even 36 months old. what."

apparently recognizing letters and some words by 2 is not normal! 4 to 5 years old is considered early? this was a shocking discovery for us because all three of the first borns had been spelling by about 2.5 and reading somewhat by 3, meanwhile W didn't take to it until 4/5. which is like. still early, and he's considered late in our family

fake edit, after talking to my mom: 4/5 is still early enough to be considered hyperlexic, apparently. so W is also hyperlexic lmao

also some of the things i thought we did happened later than i thought, and i think at least some of the claims about reading ability are the fact that i tested at a college reading level in i think fourth grade? (i don't even know how that was measured) which might be distorting my view

but i do know that the check up where mom asked the doctor if she should be worried about W not showing signs of reading yet happened before he was 3, so she definitely was expecting it by then from the three of us prior (i know it was before he was 3 because i remember the conversations about maybe W being developmentally delayed/cognitively impaired happening when i was in middle school, before high school, but after moving to the new house)

also for double hilarity, evidently i went into first grade, and came home convinced that i was suuuuuuuper behind everyone in reading ability

    idiomie ;&

no but it is genuinely so funny to me that all this time, i thought W was the "normal" one in terms of reading ability/onset, meanwhile he's actually also hyperlexic, the rest of us were just fantastically early

relatedly, super soothing thing to watch is wordgirl. kids show aimed at teaching reading comprehension and it's. so good. she's superman but her superpower is words. so cool

i'm sad that my siblings have finally outgrown it, because i no longer have an "acceptable" excuse for why i watch this show

things i still need to buy: a bed??; toilet paper; paper plates/towels, and disposable silverware; a knife set; cutting board(s); pots and pans; trashcan and trashbags; cleaning supplies

    turns out

    we just

    never turned it on

(N objects; evidently i "hid" the breaker because it was behind one of the bedroom doors which we never closed while we were in the room)

ps: yes there is heat now
