"And having you falling asleep at the bench will not get us results."

 

He growls and pulls away, starting to rise. "I'm fine. I have a cot."

 

"I noticed."

 

He glares.

 

"Do you not have a place to go to?"

 

"... Of course I do. I'm busy."

 

"Then go there," she stares. "There's no point in having a place and not utilizing it."

 

He glares, but gets his things and moves to go, stalking out the door.

 

She smirks, watching him walk. "Come in two hours after your usual start. I expect you to sleep tonight."

 

He stares at her. Glares pointedly. Then turns to go again, without a word.

 

She's already settled into the seat he was in, attention now fixed on the same readouts.

 

He growls in exasperation and goes back to his apartment, flopping still-clothed into bed.

 

When he arrives in the morning, Bashian's bag is at his desk, and Abigail and Sakach are both nervous and on edge.


There's a new doorway on one end of the lab, with a sign reading Entry Permitted Only With Permission Of V. Douglas

 

He glares, eyes dark and enraged. Fine. Fine.

"Back to work."

 

"...do you know what's going on? She was waiting when Bashir got in and told him to follow her in. We haven't seen him since," Abigail looks nervous.

 

"... I'm... not sure." He sighs heavily. "She has not chosen to confide in me."

"I'll tell you if I find out anything more." He glares at the door.

 

She hesitates, then nods. "I... okay. Thank you."

 

"... Don't worry. You're still my researchers. Even if it's not on paper."

 

She relaxes a bit, smiling. "...you got it, boss."

Scott rolls his eyes.

 

Yosef rolls his eyes back at him, nodding curtly at Abigail before turning back to his work.
