Anyway! No, I haven't listened to Invisibilia yet, I am SO EXCITED. I have been enjoying the TED Radio Hour, but it bugs me that they only include bits and pieces of the talks, so it gets a little less coherent than I would prefer. (And the old female presenter on that podcast definitely drove me nuts.) I've been marathoning Revolutions (http://revolutionspodcast.com) and Escape Pod (http://escapepod.org/) lately, which are respectively a history podcast about revolutions and why they happen and how we define them, and a show with science fiction short stories read out loud, so those have been the main things I've been listening to lately. I tend to bounce in and out of shows.
I have a few podcasts I listen to a lot - Welcome to Night Vale is my favorite, but I also listen to the RoosterTeeth Podcast and The Patch.
Welcome to Night Vale is fantastic, although like half the people I know, I'm eternally getting behind. Ursula Vernon runs a semi-similar podcast called "The Hidden Almanac" (http://www.hiddenalmanac.com/) that might also be relevant to folks' interests. It's short but hilarious. I'm not familiar with the other two, but I'm going to have to add them to the to-try list because they sound interesting. :D
I'm also a few episodes behind. The unfortunate thing is that I listen to WTNV in the car with my mom, but generally only on trips of 20-30 minutes, and the amount of those has lessened (and sometimes we just want to listen to music instead.) I may have to check out The Hidden Almanac. The Rooster Teeth Podcast is a podcast that can be about anything (often anecdotes and current events), but is generally hilarious; The Patch is always about videogames, and the people on The Patch overlap at times with the people on the Rooster Teeth podcast. Both are also available in video form (RT Podcast, The Patch.) (I like video form because audio often gets tuned out of my head if I start focusing on something else, which is also why I like listening to podcasts in the car - there's nothing else there for me to get distracted by.)
Awesome. Thank you! I've been looking for more podcasts I can listen to at work without getting distracted, and these sound like they'd fit the bill pretty well. I actually prefer audio-form, because visuals get tuned out of my head if I start focusing on something else, amusingly enough.
radio lab? I don't get to listen to it that much but they do really fascinating stuff. and i haven't heard as much invisibilia as I'd like but they're really awesome.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTvwKQHVid4aCGKdPM74ngDnAej9xaDn0 It's a podcast type thing of a on going Call of Cthulhu game by one of my fav Let's Players. There is no video despite it being on youtube, since it's pretty much a recording of Skype sessions of the game. It's pretty interesting and funny, and Kiko keeps the players pretty well on track without railroading.
Adding Radio Lab to the List O' Podcasts too. :D This is hilarious and awesome; I was listening at work and trying not to laugh out loud. YEAH, IT'S TOTALLY RATS IN THE WALLS. https://insanitywetrust.wordpress.com/ also do RP podcast type things, which might be relevant to folks' interests.
I can vouch for The Librarian, as one who got to see it live. Definitely awesome, and I've been meaning to buy the other live shows as well.
