Reasons My Kintsugijin is Crying, or; The Weepy Marshmallow Brigade

well i figured since i started it i should make the thread



do you crey everytime? are you currently crying right now? you wanna talk it out and/or laugh a little at something ridiculous that made you get all misty-eyed anyway? Welcome to the Weepy Marshmallow Brigade. We are soft and we are dehydrated.

so i already blew my favorite ridiculous crying story, The Moths, but the most recent thing i cried at that was a little silly was bo burnham's latest comedy special, Make Happy. shit is entirely too real y'all. i don't wanna spoil it if you want to watch it, but the last act and then the little song right before the credits punched me straight in the gut, and i still haven't recovered. fair warning tho, one of the songs is kind of a drawn out suicide-baitey joke? it's pretty damn bleak as far as humor goes and i promise it does make sense in context but the chorus is also just "Kill yourself" over and over interspersed with pretty graphic descriptions of methods. iirc it's nearish the end and it's proceeded by a short monologue that starts with "i hate my fans," feel free to skip it.

i have cried because of this video. i did not hear a single thing that was said in it, nor did i manage to focus on anything else for the entire duration.

okay so i'm a total monster because i don't really like cats but like... i think my heart grew literally three sizes. the kittens! they are so small!! they are in a pool!! HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE

i knew i liked cats. i knew i liked kittens. i had no idea i liked kittens that much.

 

Not only have I cried while listening to Hamilton, I have cried if anything more while reading the lyrics to Hamilton. I may have a problem.

 

I cry over basically literally everything ever. Most recently I cried about the sea longing I feel.

 

recently i've been crying a lot more than i used to (meds that work = no longer an apathetic sack of sad? i guess).

things i have cried about recently:

• someone i liked on drag race got eliminated
• an animal on dr. k didn't make it
• an animal on dr. k did make it, and is happy and healthy back home
• max the cockatoo's youtube channel
• kilgrave is scary
  
• spongebob dying in the movie, even though i know he'll be fine in like another minute (i cry at this every time i watch the movie)
• those damnable commercials with the sad animals
  
• my cat is really cute

so yeah mostly animals, but it's really random what i'll cry at now. it's kinda fun, like some sort of crying roulette (if not a bit embarrassing in public)

 

One time I cried about a glass of lemonade

At anime Boston this year there was an amv that was the audio of the trailer of the little prince, with video from the cat returns

A few years back there was another amv (that deservedly won best in show) that makes me cry every time I see it. I'll link it when I'm back on a computer

Anecdote: when my siblings and I were little, the word "weepy" was taboo and you could try to make other people say it but you couldn't say it yourself. It was just a dumb game we played I think, but it's weird. Iirc one of my sisters still won't say it.

 

I've been crying a lot more over cute animals and kids being with cute animals ;_;

The other day I cried at a Simpsons gifset. Specifically, this one. (Relatedly, I cannot watch Lisa's Substitute without bawling.)

Other things that make me cry:

• All three of Futurama's finales. And Jurassic Bark, but that's a given.
• The Gravity Falls finale.
  
• Space Doggity by Jonathan Coulton. It's about Laika.
• Up. Specifically, the ending where Russell gets the Ellie Badge. I was SOBBING.
• The ending of Homestuck.
  
• This SolAra fic.
• SolAra in general.
• No Answer by They Might Be Giants. One of the most depressing songs ever.
• Hospice by The Antlers. I legit cannot listen to this album in one go, because it's that fucking sad.
• Rose's Scabbard. The end music alone can get to me. ;-;
  
• I think I cried a little the first time I watched Jail Break. Happy tears, but still.
• Embarrassingly enough, that FUCKING Christmas Shoes song. I cried and hated myself for crying because it was so dumb but ughhhh.

 

Literally if I go a week without crying it means something is wrong and bad. Last time I cried was on Friday. I listened to some beautiful music and it brought me bittersweet memories of my friend Gui who is currently living in Japan. Everythign makes me cry: happiness, sadness, anger, relief, anything except apathy, murderous rage, DETERMINATION or a particular kind of quiet contentment (like I'm getting right now lounging in my pretty home after a long but ultimately satisfying day).

• Someone made a nice comment on a picture
• Saw a tiny dog at the airport
• Saw two kittens on a bus

• Found a book I wanted at the library
• Partner made me tea

Why does Netflix classify LILO and Stitch as a comedy?

 

I cry over a lot of really reasonable things.

I also cry because space is so big, and vast, and cosmic, guys guys space is so... there, and expanding, and moving, and time-entwined, and and and.
I also cried when I got home from work today because my dog is so cute. ??????? I don't cry over cute animals. Make happy sounds, yes. Cry, no. But for some reason, today we shed tears.
I also cry because I'm alive. What a thing. Life. The concept of being alive, here, now, and being the particular mind that is me.
I also cry because sometimes I got overwhelmed by how pretty colours are.

I'm stupid levels of emotional about that whole "existence" thing.
