For the unaware, Transformers tend to treat the discovery of a new civilization as an excuse to celebrate with a world war. Optimus Prime is, to my knowledge, currently being a dick and trying to practice colonialism on earth.

A fair amount of the time actually. Our roster is pretty Decepticon heavy, so they don´t tend to paint the enemy commander in the best and fairest light.

the first game takes place a millennium after an apocalyptic event ended the world. scientists created the yggdrasil project, and planted several world trees across what was left of planet earth to reverse the miasma and pollution that occurred from the calamity to make the world once again inhabitable to humans. they all died before the project was finished though, so there are serious issues with the trees.

what's left of civilization itself has heavily regressed, but it hasn't entirely returned to a medieval state. there is still gunpowder, androids, robots, and some forms of more advanced medicine, among other modern and futuristic stuff

 

"about half the size of a minibot" would be in the neighborhood of 7-10 feet tall. Ignis, being considerably Lorger than even minibots, is bad at guessing heights down in that range :P

 

On a less-silly tack: Ignis died fairly early on in the war and has 0 idea about any of the lost thirteen colonies; the only "colonies" he's aware of are outposts founded by Nova or successors.
