I didn't see any threads about this, but if I missed something or if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move/delete it.

Anyway, I do stick and poke (SNP) tattoos on myself, and even though I'm limited to designs that I can hand-trace onto transfer paper, I'm pretty darn fond of what I've done so far.

This is one of the first ones I did. It's actually a tattoo over a scarification, which I think is why it's doing the peeling thing. (also probably because I'm lazy and rarely remember to put moisturizer on.)

So I really like this one. It's the alchemical symbol for Arsenic, which in alchemy is an agent of change. In chemistry, Arsenic is used in alloys, which are generally stronger than their component metals. So to me, this symbol represents both change and strength. (Also, it's 5 straight lines and therefore super easy to do :P)

I'm not actually sure how to continue this one. I initially planned to fill it in completely black, but that's kind of boring. On the other hand, if I did that, I'd be able to fix the shape a little bit.

The only one I've attempted to shade so far. I used some weird cheap ink I bought off amazon. It didn't reject or anything, but the color definitely didn't stick as well as I wanted, so I'm redoing it with Mom's.
(Also, it's a mushroom. Apparently it's somewhat ambiguous)
This one will eventually get shaded. I need to clean up a couple of the outlines, so after those heal, (and after I have a color plan) I'll give shading it a go. It'll probably be a while, since I have no idea how I want to color it.

Anybody else do tattoos/have tattoos/design tattoos/want tattoos? I can also blab about the supplies/techniques I use if anyone is interested.

    pinnedbutterfly *sparkles*

i only recently decided that i might want tattoos--probably watercolor, b/c those are Super Pretty. i'm pretty sure i want a butterfly or butterfly wings and flowers, but they're going to have to be in a place that can be covered for work, so they'll probably be on my back? for colors i'm thinking blue+purple for the butterfly and pink+green (and maybe yellow) for the flower(s).

i likely won't be getting them for some time yet, though.

i want a heather wreath around my right wrist in watercolor style. probably needs to be a little farther up the arm though so it can be reliably covered by sleeves :')

Watercolor tattoos are amazing. My partner has a watercolor-style tattoo on his arm and it's pretty damn awesome. I kind of want one in that style, but I don't know what.

That was taken the day I got it, hence the redness and protective covering, so it's faded a bit now considering I've had it since October 2012, so like four years now, and probably don't take the world's best care of it (what care?). The text says Vivant Romani, which means '(Long) May The Romans Live'; sometimes I toy with getting a matching Greek helmet on the other calf, but I have a design I definitely want on my shoulderblades: two magpies and a snippet of ancient greek poetry that translates to something like 'whenever the gods send joy to a man, they first fill his heart with pain'. Sadly I don't think I could put moisturiser and stuff on something on my shoulderblades while they heal without damaging something, so it'll have to wait till I'm living with someone who doesn't mind rubbing things into my spine on a daily basis.

I would probably never actually be decisive enough to get a tattoo, but aaaa watercolour

Idk would probably be something minimalist(?) and simple like... ok maybe sounds weird but I remember a post on tumbl or somewhere about Jiz Lee's back tattoo? (uh theyre. A porn actor, if anyone was about to google plz be aware of that)

Anyway it's basically just a single brushstroke of blue watercolour on their spine, which i thought looked v cool.
Edit: i'll try to remember to find a picture tomorrow, on my phone right now and falling asleep lol

I think tattoos can be beautiful pieces of art, and I'd love to get one of those pieces inked onto my body! my parents really don't want me to get any tattoos, though, regardless of whether or not they're discreet; they think I'll inevitably regret whatever it is. so it'll be at least several years till I can get any, and in the meantime I'll come up with some ideas and see if I still like them after a while. :P I love dragons and pretty much always have done, and I think one could make a really beautiful tattoo. ideally I think it'd be on my forearm, but professionalism, etc., etc., so one wrapping around my shoulder onto my back would also be cool. although I don't think I'd want to get that until I've had chest surgery... maybe it can be celebratory, after my scars are healed? that'd be cool. I think I'd definitely want it in color, if I decide I can bear the pain after the lineart's done; jewel tones, maybe, blue or green or red. idk what kind of dragon exactly, but yeah. we'll see how I feel about that in a few years. and there's this quote that I'm really digging right now—"and this also has been one of the dark places of the earth," from Heart of Darkness—but I only came across it a few weeks ago, so again, I'll have to sit on that for a while before I think about getting it tattooed.

I've got two simple tattoos (right ankle, back of neck) and plans for three much more elaborate ones once I find the right artist. I want a lithograph style collage of deep sea creatures as a sleeve style tat on my right thigh, a watercolor style milkweed on my left ankle/calf, and folded dragonfly wings on my back.

I know what my first one will be, although I don't know when we can afford it, or how much these things even cost:

It's the heraldry for Earendil, from Tolkien lore. Above and beyond the meaning and history in the lore, there's a fuck ton of attached multilayered meaning for me personally... feel silly rambling about it though. :/

getting an image + quote would be nice. i dont think i want text on its own. but i think text integrated into an image/design would be nice

If I got anything, it would be super nerdy. Like. A nucleotide, or a DNA sequence of import, or Darwin's little tree diagram with "I think..." written beside it. Small and unobtrusive.

Or I'd go nerd in the other direction and get a fuckin' Homestuck Light aspect symbol.

I want Luka's gender multitool on my shoulder, most definitely.

And theoretically the breath symbol on my wrist, but the position I want it on isn't easily covered ::/ (right on the joint, and outside. getting it made would probably also hurt like fuck)

    wings on my ankles.

for a while, i kept a tattoo pen in my pencil case, and i had a few weeks in which my left arm was full of tribal tattoo style doodles i did in class.

@winterykite I used to draw stuff like that on my arm all the time! with a black Sharpie, not a tattoo pen, but yeah. I stopped because apparently it meant I "wasn't paying attention" (don't have to be looking at you to be listening, dipshit teacher who shall remain nameless) and also because it smeared off on things sometimes. your designs there are really beautiful!

I've got Ideas that I want, and hopefully will actually get done eventually. I want a bee on my ring finger, in an ink illustration style. I wanna get the Homestuck Heart symbol somewhere (that isn't over my heart, that's a bit too recursive. Wrist, maybe.) I've got sketches for an elaborate triforce tattoo that would be shared with @Lady Kianna and our third moirail, but that may never happen. Recently I've been thinking about a woodland scene half sleeve and a rainbow raccoon tail to match my wife's rainbow fox tail.

I'm thinking next month (or next semester, when I've saved enough to feel comfortable) I'm going to finally commit to the wings on my shoulders. I've wanted them for almost a decade now, though I haven't quite settled on a design yet. Definitely angel wings though, all black ink.

I also want the racial symbol for the Draenai on one shoulder, and I'm seriously considering getting the Kirkwall rebellion symbol on the other.

pixels hiatus / only back to vent

i really want a tree of life on my back, but since that would be expensive as hell and i wouldn't even see it most of the time, i don't think i'll go through with it. i also have no concept of self-care and would have to go back for multiple sessions, so it doesn't sound like a good "first tattoo".

i also think basic crisp blackwork looks really good. i wouldn't mind having some but i don't know what or where.

a tattoo i wanted for a while when i was younger was a line from t.s. eliot's the waste land down one of my sides in courier new font. "nothing again nothing" line 120.
