(Formerly "Story Ideas That Will Never Bear Fruit")

A place where you can take all of those story ideas that will probably never see the light of day, and scream them into the void. I know I have a pattern of coming up with a story idea, having it consume my life for a few days to a week, tops, and then never thinking about it again- the most I can do is write down what I've figured out and shove it in a googledoc in case I ever want to visit it again. I have a bunch of these docs, and I'm sure a lot of people have one or two or fifty odd story ideas that you really like but will probably never make anything out of.

I'll start with one I just typed up.

Miki Tanzer was born and raised in the city of Finale. Orphaned at a young age, she grew up with her aunt Suzu in a lonely house, never knowing much about her parents. On Midsummer Day, 201x, a mysterious woman tries to kill her, and that night she wakes up in a surreal, shadowy otherworld of the city she grew up in, with distorted architecture and surrounded by a writhing wall of shadows. There she meets a recent transfer to her school, Jem Krall, as well as two girls who live on her block, Sel and Sol Ó Rinn and a mysterious, dreamy looking girl who calls herself Cho. The latter three tell the two newcomers that this city has a special resonance in the dreamlands, and that some people, who live through near death experiences, have a strong connection to the void, or perform certain rituals go to Dreaming Finale whenever they sleep. Miki and Jem make a pact to explore the secrets of the strange other city together- and there they find out more than they bargained for.

2 Game Modes- Relationship building/schedule managing in Waking Finale; exploring, puzzle solving, and wraith fighting in Dreaming Finale. Like I said, it is very Persona. You would be able to date the five other main characters, as well as some other, more minor Love Interests. You would also be able to be their rival, their friend, or completely wreck your relationship, depending on dialogue choices and your actions. Each LI (or at least the main ones) would also have a "good" and a "bad" route, like in a lot of visual novel dating games, and completing those "routes" would get you nonstandard game overs. However, you wouldn't have to get that ending to be in a relationship with a character. Progressing through the game would be a matter of exploring more of Dreaming Finale, mastering it's puzzles, interacting with the dreams of the sleeping, and finding memories scattered throughout, that tell you more abut the setting, characters, and backstory. There would be wraiths to fight, but fighting would for the most part not be necessary, and boss fights would be with humans or the dreams of humans. Mostly you could talk your way out of them or avoid them altogether with your actions instead of fighting, though it depends. Combat wouldn't require leveling up but finding and equipping powers, kinda like the sphere grid, meaning that when you do come across an enemy you can't escape, you won't be underlevelled. It would be on a calendar, kind of like Persona, going towards the final night.

    Main Characters:

Miki Tanzer- Main Character for Timeline 1. A headstrong girl who has trouble not speaking her mind but a tendency to get lost in her own head. Doesn’t have many friends.

Jem Krall- An exchange student who Miki finds in Dreaming Finale. She helps Miki investigate the strange city. She is sarcastic and a bit of an ice queen, but deep inside she deeply wants companionship.

Sol Ó Rinn- A girl who lives down the street from Miki. Although they’re in the same class, Miki always feels weird around her. She has a lot of friends, but not many close ones, and although she seems light hearted there’s an edge to her.

Sel Ó Rinn- A girl who lives down the street from Miki. Although Sel’s a couple years older, she always saved Miki from bullies, and Miki really looks up to her. She’s princely, and always has a kind word for everyone. Name short for Selene.

Lys- An assassin who finds information about her marks in Dreaming Finale. She’s to the point, brusque, and doesn’t show much affection for anyone- but it seems she had a soft spot for a girl named Kara.

Cho- A girl who seems to live in Dreaming Finale. She is sweet and a bit spacey, and teaches Miki and Jem a lot about the dreamlands. Still, something tells Miki that Cho doesn't like her very much.

Suzu Tsukino- Miki’s aunt, who has raised her for as long as Miki can remember. She’s kind of unprepared to raise a kid, but cares for Miki deeply- enough to keep certain truths from her.

In order to keep the Void from encroaching on Dreaming Finale and therefore affecting Waking Finale, there must be at least one, and hopefully more, Void Singers to talk to and placate the Void. Miki and Kara’s mother, Hana, was a Void Singer, but they were becoming rarer and rarer, and with Hana’s health fading and no other Void Singer around, she and her husband Emil decided to try and find a way to create a child with a connection to the Void. They ended up making two twin daughters- Miki and Kara. However, it turned out that Miki was almost half Void herself, and could not leave the dreamlands, while Kara could barely even stand to be near the Void. Miki grew extremely jealous of her sister, who got to go out into the world and make friends, while Miki only ever had one friend- a young Void Singer her father was trying to train in his wife’s stead named Cho. Eventually, Miki and Cho tried to find a ritual to bring her out of the dreamlands- but their plan turned out to be at Kara’s expense, as Miki literally drained Kara’s humanity. The Void rebelled against her leaving, deeply scarring and nearly killing Cho, and killing everyone else who was in Dreaming Finale at the time- with the last bit of his soul, Emil created a time reset and gave it to Cho, telling her to reset time and bring everyone else back. She did- but instead of Kara coming to school next day, it was Miki.

Cho told her other friends, Sel, Sol, and Lys, about the reset, and the four of them, confused, scared, and guilty, hatched a plan to bring Kara back- which would mean sending Miki back to the Void. However, every time they got the ritual set up and captured Miki, Miki turned into a stronger Void Wraith than any of them had ever seen before, and they always had to initiate a time reset or risk all of them dying. Finally, they decided to wait longer and see if they could find a way to weaken Miki- and it just so happens that when they waited, a girl with a powerful connection to the Void and a powerful connection to Miki came waltzing into Finale…

The four girls find out that on Midsummer Night, the Void is at it's weakest, and they may be able to defeat Miki on that night. They set up their scheme, lead her to the Void Temple at the center of the city one year after she first awakens in Dreaming Finale, and try to bind her- only to find their plan fails. Miki once again turns into a Wraith, but Jem steps forward and is able, in a boss battle, to calm her rage- only for the others to complete the ritual as a horrified Jem watches Miki be dragged into the Void...
And Kara Tanzer wakes up in her bedroom on Midsummer Day 201x.

Basically there is a kind of New Game +, where you play as Kara instead of Miki. In Kara's Story you have to pierce together a way to truly save both you and Miki, while trying to bring the other main characters around to the idea.

Here's one from me - I didn't lose interest, just too many thinks, too little time. I mentioned it in Top Serket - NSFW Writing, but this part is not NSFW (but I think most stories derived from it would be). Oops on re-reading it might be a little NSFW.

Here, have a bunch of shit i may or may not ever use copy/pasted directly out of my slush pile.

    Goddess of Trodden-Upon Flowers

    The Key of True North

Concrete forest – chopping down pillars of highway overpass like trees

Red moon, black waves pouring into the sky

Folded paper golems in drawers – folded FBI “bureau” agents

Midwife's house filled with odditites - first thing a baby looks at somehow determines its character

Desert of doors, forest in the sinkhole, rainforests with desert strip between --> caravans, the black grounds, mirage sea (can breathe at first, might not even notice it’s there, light fades from blue to red, hot in the depths, shimmering, nearly invisible, non-wetting)

The Faerie nature of politics and economics: buying and selling dreams and things that don’t exist yet and possible futures, selecting leaders based on who tells the best story.

Blue Crystal on string. Girl w/ violin case and blue sweater standing still in chaos (possibly the crisis) in middle of downtown, spinning crystal, crystal spins in full circle and stops pointing up, ring of blue spreads out from crystal across most of city, forming blue sphere, cut back to girl & surroundings, darkens to deep blue by degrees, people (other than the girl) turn to silhouettes, then their hearts begin to glow and fall slowly to the ground where they flicker like candles (i.e. Laurie Anderson concert). Lasts 37 minutes, can only be used once every 74 years. People can “revived” within the sphere by picking up their hearts and blowing on them to kindle them, or their hearts can be moved around. In end, girl winds back at the center of the sphere, crystal begins to flicker, and she lets it go, it floats up and begins trailing a cone of whit/golden light which becomes a spotlight as she gets out her viol and begins to play. Blue lightens by degrees, hearts float up and people become silhouettes, then solid again. People move as song ends, and the crowd covers the girl. When it parts she is gone.

Here, massive domes of slag break the through earth like pustules, evidence of some great violence far below. At the heart of each is a weapon of bright steel, unparalleled in strength and keenness. Around the edge of each boil grasses the color of an oil slick grow long and twisted and sharp.

Bubbles of silvery fluid rise through stone like water then stop dead as they hit the air of this cavern. They pool in shifting, shimmering lakes beneath the cavern floor, like air beneath a boat, filling the shapes of stalagmites and occasionally escaping up the cavern walls. Solid objects pass into the fluid without resistance and emerge changed.

Firework smoke monster - head of a goat with a corona of legs somewhere between spider and octopus behind.

    Roving packs of feral cars

    bleach-men

    the stitched lands

    dying earth magical girls
    - 1. A new sun. It will attempt to consume the old sun. If it succeeds everything will be different now. –scrap princess
o Growing in dark caves beneath the earth, of course
    - Monsters that will drink the skies slumber and grow beneath the mountains waiting for the waning sun to gutter out
    - The works of humankind gone wild and strange, and left to inherit the emptying, dying world
    - The old animals are going… somewhere else. Sometimes their shadows stay behind.
    - The demons that have plagued humanity since time immemorial and the old gods of dust and smoke are released from their prisons of concrete and apathy
    - The empty world outside the slowly rotting suburbs of the Last City is bereft of humanity save the mad and the star-swallowers

(maybe this one should go in the writing thread because I actually would like to do something with it)

Magic songs learned from swallowing certain bubbles underwater

Beakers filled with seawater with your name on them as a kind of phylactery. One for each letter gives you redundancy, one with a whole name allows you to control them w/ sympathetic magic.
If the beaker is emptied, they fall into a deathlike trance, if it’s refilled they rise as a sort of zombie, if it’s broken all enchantments on it or by it are released.

    Sea urchin god of necromancy

    Conflict between gods of necromancy

Conflict between gods of necromancy and ambitious upstart witches

    - Witches have captured a princess and are planning to force her to eat a gross red thing to make her go grimdark and make everything go to shit, gross red thing was secretly given to witches by a red spider-messenger of one of the gods of necromancy as part of a ploy but will still make everything go to shit if used
    - Part of plan involves dropping one of the same kind of gross red thing into one of the witch’s soul jar
    - One of the witches is actually being controlled by the other two, is also a princess (feferi in the dream) controlled as part of another plot to attempt to seize the throne.

Gods of necromancy can go from minor manifestation to full manifestation: eyes appearing on walls to giant columns of eyes with crosslinks of shadow appearing and consuming a city.

Maka Albarn-like champion of the sea urchin god, leading the charge of the counter-attack part of the plan against the witches, chatting with a minor manifestation of The Mist of Eyes the night before the attack, ambushed by witches goons at breakfast the next morning, summons scythe and grows shadow magic spines out of her body in every direction to form a protective ball while she hovers.

    Literal forest of nails

Several craters overlapping like venn diagram. Kingdoms in the bottom of each fight for scant resources over crater walls. PCs in center in free state not ruled by kings or lords, protected by an artifact called the Heart of the World, but running low on resources.

Video game level: Elzabeth Street, revisit level later with something, eye-related changed/added, level called Elizabeth Street.

Story: flashbacks in monochrome, different character’s flashbacks in different (subtle, unsaturated) colors

"Kicking at the dirt in a circle, like a pendulum transcribing the Earth’s rotation."

"… and some stray quarter sloshing around between her shoe and the sole of her foot like the coin under a dead man’s tongue."

Vision Limited – fictional company – double meaning

Warbus – warriors with spears and swords resting on their laps resting warily as their bus travels through the post-apocalyptic night

-All the clocks in the great hall simply read 'TOO LATE'

-A god that is both tall and thin and white as a unicorn, and at the same time a short squat chuckling shadow of a thing of violet-black matted hair that leaves footprints on the asphalt like purple oil paint

I have others, but those are the few from the top of my head atm XD @Wiwaxia, you seem to have the same probelm as me, which is good to know - a heap of broken images where the sun beats, but no real place to put them XD

Some assorted small ideas, images, lines, ect

-You are standing in a vast plane of still water, ankle deep, with old and cracking tile underneath. To your left there is a wall that reaches towards the horizon, made of plaster and brick. Other then that, there is nothing. You walk along the wall, one hand pressed gently to it, for what seems like an eternity, or maybe an hour. Finally, you reach it's corner, and when you turn with it, you find yourself in a home, standing in the doorway of the living room. The furniture is all mahogany tables and shelves; couches and chairs striped orange, saffron, pea green; a small television set with dials on the side, playing static. The carpet is an amber shade of brown, and the patterns on the wallpaper are indistinct but strange, as if the lines shouldn't be able to meet up, but do. The water is deeper, here, although not by much. It's moving now, rushing past your feet and out the door and into the hallway behind you. You walk against the flow, through the small home, until you reach the bathroom.
Inside: two boys. One is on his back, arched over the lip of the bathtub, his arms limb. The other is on top of him, on his knees, his hands dug into the other boy's neck, breathing heavily, holding him under. The bath is overflowing with water.

    -Eight sister goddess:

    Mind, Strategy, Water

    Might, Strength, Fire

    Magic, Spirituality, Wind

    Material, Physicality, Stone

    Mortality, Life and Death, Wood

    Moirai, Fate, Lightning

    Mayhem, Chaos, Dark

    Moral, Order, Light

-One of those stories about someone being teleported to another world and trying to find their way back home, except they can't, and the story starts 5 odd years later and is about how they adjust to this new world, how they feel about it relative the old once, ect

    - Somehow it always ends in drowning.

A lake just deep enough for a grown man to stand underwater. Moonlight scattered across still waters. The torn remains of a dress draped across the grass. A girl, naked, reeds tangled in her hair. Silence. When dawn comes there are footsteps- a wizened old man with a woman’s straw hat clutched in his hands; a small girl who tiptoes to the waters edge; a boy who runs into the water, screaming; a woman who stops beside the trees and watches as the body sinks. They are all of them alone. Eventually, all of them leave.

The only thing more similar than the endings is the beginnings.

    - I built a marble palace for a living, breathing god

-werewolves who can only be transformed by the moon they were born under, and the effects of this on mankind's colonization of other planets

-three friends/lovers in a dying village in an icy waste by the sea; one of them volunteers to be transformed into a tern in order to carry out a quest for a sorcerer to save their home, story follows the other two as they try to keep the village alive, and keep faith that she'll come back one day to save them

-lonely, bitter girl who hates people discovers a labyrinth that she slowly realizes to be sentient, and they become friends over time, until one day she finally just leaves the real world behind and disappears into the labyrinth forever

-ashdown, a swan lady who lives by a lake, doesn't migrate for the winter--practically a death sentence--due to her grief at her wife's death; in staying she sees the awful conditions the other birdfolk who were forced to stay behind--by injury, illness, or late-hatching nests--are left with, and ends up channeling her grief into leading and protecting them all through the winter

they lose nowhere near as many birdfolk to winter that year as usual, and she stays every year after that to do it again

there's a whole lot more; i might end up writing some of the above--ashdown especially i'm pretty damn attached to--but for now they're all very much Future Projects

    *practices thread necromancy*
ok so this thing i keep meaning to write! I’ll write about it a little because I feel the Inspiration but it’s very stupid/clichéd so. uh. forgive me i started messing with this when i was like 12. i mean it changed a bit w time but its essentially. hm.
I still wana do something with it? Every once in a while i'll come back and sketch something or put a scene of the thing together using The Sims (I have made sims of most of the characters and built Carina's little "rented" room in Ernest's house)

So the idea is that four hundred years before the start of the story there was a great disaster that unleashed devastation on the continents - ground splitting open, crops dying, the air catching on fire, all sorts of weird stuff - that slowly forced people to live on islands. lotsof wars broke between continental refugees and islanders, until it eventually settled a hundred years later. There were two centuries of relative picking up the dust, until the island kingdoms began to wonder if things were better in the continents. They were if you stayed close to the coast, so they’ve started building outposts, colonies and settlements to try and explore the natural resources the continent has that were starting to run out in the islands, and especially for agriculture.

The further inland you went, though, the weirder stuff became - animals turned into monsters, creepy ghosts, geography and physics not really acting like they should. but mostly monsters and weird reality-bending.

the furthest settlement is a mining village called halfmonth, because it’s fifteen days travel upriver from the coast. Usually people living in these settlements are either thugs or criminals looking to reduce their sentences by working there, so anyone from one of these settlements suffers some social stigma. The nicest one is the Tower Settlement, in a really beautiful part of the coast and a key trading point. Tower Settlement was built by a handful of wealthy people from various kingdoms and is run like a city-estate, so it’s fairly richer than most.

The creation of these settlements and the search for natural resources have given rise to the profession of the Adventurer. mostly it’s just thugs like those in Halfmonth, but some adventurers are employed by the scientific community to study the weird natural phenomena inland and to try and rescue knowledge/technology that was lost.

The main character is Carina, who moves from Halfmonth to Towers to work as a courier for a journal run by Ernest Moor, a retired, disabled adventurer who used to be employed by the Amius family. Moor and Carina’s father had dealings in the past, which is why he sponsors her move to the city and gives her shelter. There, she meets the youngest Amius generation: Laila, the eldest, who is an engineer following her family’s tradition, Iris, the youngest, and Basílio, the middle child - an “unemployed bon-vivant.” She also meets Basílio’s best friend, Argen Solis. He’s an orphan immigrant who lives with his aunt, Irma, and works as a clerk on her apothecary shop. Ernest used to work with Argen’s mother, Grazia, and had a complicated romantic relationship with Irma in the past; after Grazia’s death he became a father figure to Argen.

Argen has dreams of becoming an adventurer like his mother and Ernest, which are encouraged by Basílio and forbidden by his aunt.

Argen and Carina/Carina and Laila become friends, and Basílio sort-of-not-willingly warms up to her, and life progresses in relative peace until the rumor of the White Witches begins spreading. Weird natural phenomena isn’t unheard of in coastal cities, only they’re much less intense and common. But they start to get serious one summer, and these witches always are seen around the beginning or end of them; One night, monsters appear out of thin air, and although they seem to not be entirely solid they still cause a panic; Carina and Basílio are caught in the confusion and end up witnessing the arrival of the Witches.

A bunch of stuff happens that would make this even longer than it is, but long story short: The natural disasters and weird phenomena had been happening because the magic inside the world - which is what fuels life and nature - is getting out of control. it’s a process that happens cyclically, and the Witches are magical constructs/immortal spirits created by another witch the last time that happened, many thousands of years prior. They were left behind to guarantee someone would know the process to put magic in balance again, since it took her people hundreds of years and bringing most of the world to the brink of extinction to get it right. They should also guarantee that no one would harness that energy for less than noble purposes, as that was one of the original witch’s people’s biggest troubles.

then of COURSE there is someone trying to use that energy for less than noble purposes - and they're involved with Carina's abusive mother and with the person that is responsible for Argen's father's death and who was indirectly responsible for his mother's death too. So it falls on Argen, Basílio and Carina (and the witches, Valentina and Leonora - Basílio named them after people he didn’t like) to avoid whatever horrible fate that would mean. Well, mostly Argen jumps on the opportunity to be some kind of legendary heroic noble adventurer who is following his mother's legacy because he’s an idiot, Basílio follows because he goes wherever Argen goes, is the most intelligent of the three, and is also an idiot, and Carina follows because turns out she is a) partially involved in the clusterfuck for above mentioned personal reasons b) those two idiots will die if left alone and she can’t have that c) she's the third idiot of the trio. In the way they learn/discover/develop a lot of magic! They fight monsters! they explore creepy places! they meet spirits of nature! There's not a love triangle, but a polyamorous triad! and sorta-lesbians who are actually super immortal and cannot die at all ever.

I'd write this if I were capable of writing people who are simultaneously the greatest trolls and xanatos speedchessers and magnificent bastards.
an agent is tasked with bringing a "project theta" to a certain place at a certain time.
"project theta" is a human enby who is, according to file, a xanatos speedchesser and general brainiac
"project theta" in the flesh is a quite chaotic person who loves to troll others and throw curveballs and generally have a good laugh at hijinks
    their modus operandi is shenanigans
and they are, apparently, also completely disinterested with any planning or with what they're supposed to do where they're supposed to go!
instead they run off to random places messing with random people in various random ways
the climax reveals it was all part of a greater plan and the agent's orga is now fucked because theta suddenly now holds the reins to the mess
and then decides to join some random fifth faction because their leader was nice to them
(who probably went "yeah i got that file and i have no idea what to do with you ima treat you like a normal human being for the meantime?")
(a lot of the people around theta think something theta carries is the true project because they only skimmed the file) (or they plain dont believe whats in the file bc have you looked at what theta is doing)

Ok a couple (pretentious as fuck, probably) worldbuilding things for stories that are a) way too similar and b) probably too complicated for me
The Fae were the First People and although there was probably some time when they were at peace nobody can imagine it. For as long as the longest memory, the Seelie and Unseelie Courts have been locked in constant conflict, creating new and dangerous creatures as their weapons- creatures that spawned entire lineages in their own right. All magical creatures were born of these battles, and the magical world was ever chaos- until the queens looked up from their war plans and saw that as they had battled, humans, once nothing but an inconsequential nuisance, had grown up around them. At first they thought that this would be a pest easily dealt with, but soon found that humans had a powerful weapon- their own blood. The simple touch of human blood repelled and burned the fae and their creatures. So the queens devised a new strategy. They worked together for the first time in eons to kidnap some human children and create something that were not bound by the same weaknesses, that were not so tied to nature, that could not only touch human blood but thrived off of it.

    They created the vampires.

Of course, as soon as they realized what hideous beings they had wrought- beings so beloathed by nature that they could not even walk under the light of the sun- they ceased their experiments. But it was too late. Not only did their test subjects escape, but the queens were greatly drained, rendered less powerful by far. They hoped the vampires would simply die out, but they were wrong. The vampires were near immortal, even if they often died far before eternity, and they had their own way of creating more of their kind. Weakened and hoping simply to protect their people from both the humans and this anomaly, they turned loose their created armies into the world, hoping that they would protect faekind, and began an uneasy peace.

It’s been many, many years since then...
The gods went away a very long time ago. Before they left they created three archangels and game them some instructions.

    1. They are to not interfere with any humans until the time of their deaths.

    2. They are to judge the dead human souls, and those that are most righteous they may make a new angel out of, and the rest shall go to the river of souls to be born again.

    3. They are not to leave the haven created for them, except to go reap the souls of humans, and the further they are and the longer they stay away and the more virtuous they were before the more twisted they shall grow.
So the three angels were left to their own devices, and quickly they took on their roles. One watched the human world, and she took the first souls herself, and one was the judge, and they passed judgement on those reaped souls, and one was the teacher, and he took the new angels and taught them how and what to be. He was a kind and caring man, if stern, and he although he treated all the angels well he could not help but have his favorites. One of the first of his favorites was a young angel who just barely had been judged worthy- she could be snide, and glib, but she loved ferociously and she was fiercely loyal, and these were traits that he admired. He even began to fall in love with her, although of course he made no allusions or overtures. In time her training ended, and she became one of the few angels of death, judged sturdy enough to witness all of human suffering with caring and compassion, and because she was not overly righteous she did not have much to lose by being away from the haven for extended periods of time.

For a while things went well, and more angels were born and more humans were born and the angel of death stayed close to her old mentor, who still did not reveal his feelings for her. However, one day she was sent to reap the soul of a man who was murdered, and when she did she saw the man’s adult daughter, who had survived the attack, and she fell in obsession instantly. She started to follow the human girl again as much as she could, spending more and more time in the human realm, and where she went death followed, and the human girl thought she was cursed, for so many people around her died, and soon she became a renowned warrior, seemingly impervious to death, since the angel would not let her die.

Of course, this could not go unnoticed for long. Soon the Watcher and the Judge heard wind of the strange trail of death left by one human, and they uncovered the angel's love for the girl. The Judge was furious, and although the Watcher argued for mercy and the Teacher refused to believe his beloved had done anything wrong they sentenced her to execution. She was imprisoned and bound and tortured for her crime, until finally she was led to the block. The Judge took their great fiery sword in hand and, with steely eyes, positioned it over the wayward angel’s neck- but their blade was stopped by another, one of dark ice, wielded by the Teacher. He took the wayward angel’s hand and cried out to the crowd that he would give them a life without such tyranny, and he led a third of the angel’s out of the haven, and through the human realm, and out the other side.

So the war of heaven began.

The upside of this is: The Teacher and his angels become demons, the Judge declares war, the Watcher goes nah and takes another third of the angels to the human realm where they hide away and become fae, the demons start to seduce and have kids with humans-vampires- so the angels made humanoid animals- I have not yet decided if weres or just fucking furries or what- to fight them, except that doesn't work because some defect to the demons or fae so the angels justify having kids with the humans themselves, which I have not yet decided what they are, centuries later this fight is still going on under the surface of human life.

I'm releasing this one into the void because I can't seem to make it work here on earth:

A young woman is struggling to fill her mother's (the village healer's) shoes. The inquisition is brewing in Spain. Rumours are spreading and there are whispers suspecting her of witchcraft. Then she meets an actual witch in the woods. Romance blooms and then goes wildly, bloodily wrong.

OnnaStik Relatively nice for a bloodthirsty mercenary

@Arxon Traditionally, angel/human children are called nephilim, I believe.

I just keep coming up with elaborate setting details and no plots to put in them... :/

Queen and Evil King, Queen is duty driven and married the King for the sake of her famiky, never expecting to end up happy or to love him like she does, but. As he gets older, he starts edging into shitty king territory, bad dude, hurts people ruins lives. Queen's duty to her people is clear. Queen plots to remove Kimg from the throne without killing him, balancing peasant rebellions and noble assassination plots to sieze the throne. Loves the king dearly, striggles to reconcile that with her sense of justice and purpose.

God of Fate and God of Prophecy -- God of fate is huge and androgynous and has very pale skin and straight white hair and likes to wear things that are white or gold or both. God of prophecy is a terrible garbage man who can turn into a giant black doberman/jackal looking thing and likes to hang around with mortals. Their appearances aren't actually important but they were very clear to me when I came up with them so I figured it was worth mentioning.

God of Fate likes things to be neat and orderly and all mortal lives to be tied up in a neat little bow of inevitability for their entire lives. God of Prophecy likes to fuck up their plans by taking a few mortals whose lives intersect in a meaningful way with the most number of people and tying them to a fixed event in time (their 'prophecy'), thereby unraveling the thread of their fate as well as messing up the threads of fate of all the people they were meant to influence. God of Fate has to frantically try to re-lace the intricate web of fate to make everything go how they want it to, and God of Prophecy thinks it's hilarious. God of Fate eventually captures him and tries to impose a set of rules for how they should interact and how their powers could intersect ("We could do great things together!") but God of Prophecy is having none of it because they're too fun to mess with and they end up having a very hateful kismesitude
