on soul virtues & the undertale main cast, a damn good post that outlines that there is a neat correlation between the soul virtues and the main characters, but it's less one of them embodying the virtues so much as valuing them.

toriel's dark, disturbing past

i half-want to watch the video to see if it really is saying that toriel is a satanist, i half-don't 'cause the video probably won't be as funny as what i'm imagining

So far it's nothing new. Reminding us that Toriel has been basically isolated for a very long time, clinging to and trying to trap the humans who appear so that they won't leave her alone, and going on and on and on about Stockholm Syndrome. Dark past suggested: she's crazy and her attitude of wanting to keep us in the Home ruins is a symptom of her insanity.

Yawn.

 

I got so into writing an alternative (better) wtf/edgy/disturbing take on Toriel that that my computer crashed. The first paragraph:

If we want to frame Toriel as an edgy jerk, there's another side of things that the snail-obsessed Stockholm syndrome inducer theory misses out on: Toriel's goal isn't motherhood and trapping us, it's stopping Asgore's plans by any means necessary, including sending a child out to kill him. Motherhood is another thing she wants, and it's definitely something she's stuck on when we meet her, but it's not the thing really motivating her here. We're her assassin or catspaw.

I really don't feel like finishing outlining the reasoning for it right now, but I want to come back to this later.

i had a dream yesterday morning where in the first area of the dream everyone was a toriel recolour except for me

 

Linking this here instead of derailing the tumblr thread. But wow a sigil. I've so far only found this thing, a tarot spread, and some spells, but that's more than nothing I suppose. I need to dig further. See if I can find not just magic, but actual fullblown paganism.

 

Haha before me n my friend had an idea to do a Homestuck type retelling of Undertale but I didn't have the energy to do much but I made a Frisk n Chara sprite n 1 weird lookin page

Also, Underlab is generally that bad. I follow them because there's precious little new Undertale content these days, aside from I guess, fic and aus, which aren't really all that much my thing these days
