tbh??? i just love them and how they vibe. the flesh is really just here to have a good time, the spiral is SO MUCH FUN......, and the vast...i have been bungee jumping before and it was so much fun. i want bastard old man to adopt me.

i think id probably get caught by like....well, its hard to say for sure? if i didnt know what was going on ANY of them could catch me bc im a weenie but if it was me with my knowledge right now id go so increasingly feral about them all. even the stranger, who id probably slap first.

on episode 132! Martin has apparently decided it was necessary to take over for Jon as Bad Decisions Boy while he was in a coma. really should have expected no less from Martin "Corkscrew" Blackwood! Fortunately it seems like Jon is going above and beyond to make up for his lost time in that regard so hopefully Martin will stop being such a MORON soon

edit: and now Daisy seems to have taken Martin’s place as the emotionally stable one trying to bring the group together. what is this crazy backwards universe

 

I am now! caught up! with the Magnus Archives!! That One Bit in Revolutions was everything I hoped it would be, and idc what Jon said in the Q&A episode the monster pig was totally a Flesh avatar

edit: where did the Oops All Eyes thing and the general fanon consensus on Jon's appearance come from? I know the eyes aren't canon and probably everyone picked them up because it looks cool, but was Jon described somewhere in more detail than "prematurely greying, looks exhausted" and I missed it? or is it like how everyone simultaneously knew how Cecil and Carlos look by fandom telepathy?

my favorite bit of fandom telepathy though is how we've all rejected the canon shortening of Jonathan to "John" out of petty spite at Jonny's name choices

 

fortunately I really like the fanon jon design lol. and yeah John is just... wrong

ok so Melanie and Georgie have got to be up to something badass, right? Georgie literally can't feel fear, is maybe the only person in the world unable to do so, which if I had to guess would make her invisible or just really boring to the Entities and their avatars. going to theorize that she doesn't have a domain! she doesn't feed or draw strength from anything! and Melanie violently cut herself off from the power ruling the world which has got to have some kind of arcane side effects in the apocalypse. when Our Heroes finally reach what used to be London they had better find Melanie and Georgie either kicking ass or at least surviving in the ruins.

 

can anyone rec me some fic with a canon vibe? so far all the longfics I've read have been much lighter than canon, and while I totally get it I really just want more canon lol. also if anyone knows some well-written monster!Jon I would Love to get my hands on that as well because I fucking love monster!Jon

 

Some of them are lighter in tone, but I really love Bibliocratic’s one shot series Unassigned Supplementals. I haven’t read much long fic yet, so I’d also be interested in recs.

 

when you say "canon vibe" do you mean Exactly As Canon or are aus okay? cuz I have a rec for a entertaining powerswap that is Very Upsetting.

 

mostly I mean that everyone is suspicious bastards and Bad Things Happen! I would be amenable to turning the found family dial up a couple notches and I am in favor of happy endings but it just doesn't feel right without a certain amount of idiocy and strife in the mix yanno. it's just not the TMA cast if they're not constantly making horrible mistakes for kind of understandable but stupid reasons.

idk if its what you're looking for but one of my personal favorites is Bell, Book, and Candle and anything else by yellow_caballero. its a s3 AU focused around Jon, Georgie, and Gerry as a slightly dysfunctional found family. yellow_caballero very much has her own distinct take on TMA and its very based more on the fandom osmosis version in places. but she uses it to good effect and often winds up exploring some of the same themes as canon in different ways. it's a good finished 100k fic and i got very invested in it while it was still coming out. There's some monster!Jon in there too!

also linking theater of the absurd by the same author which i wouldnt call a good fic but also its deliberately not trying to be good. its some delightful nonsense that made me giggle at 3am bunch and then rudely called me out

 

if anyone's up for just feeling really, really bad instead there's Ocean of Noise ( https://archiveofourown.org/works/20954018 ) which crushed me when I first read it - it's script format and it was horrifyingly easy to imagine it spoken out loud. The basic concept is essentially... s4 Martin decides Jon is a danger to himself & to others and that the best/easiest solution to this problem is to just... stick him in the Lonely. Indefinitely. Jon gets to monologue a lot!

 

does it count if its my own nonsense? because Lost Episodes https://archiveofourown.org/works/23042494 is entirely my own ocs within statements which i think is very close to canon aesthetics

I keep forgetting too because I feel like the fandom isn't super into oc stuff or statement fic format.

I mean, I love all the individual statements in the actual show so fanworks along those lines sound good to me :D

Feste is very good! If you want another Martin focused fic by the same author, there's also Martin and the Dream Boy. and anyone feel free to yell at me about these fics bc i love them and havent really gotten anyone else to read them
