Oh noooo :( I recently switched from Meridian to bulk.com's peanut butter and find that it's really good, for natural peanut butter. Much less oily and gritty.

Oh no :( I know that feel after Lucozade got fucked to hell by aspartame. (Still, I was probably headed for a caffeine-related head asplosion if I didn't stop drinking it, so that one worked out okay.)

I experimented with herbs and developed a taste for what I've started thinking of as "hot and cold" chicken: chicken breast, lemon-rosemary on one side, paprika-sage on the other, grill it up. Simple.

opinions of cereals with non-milk products?

For example I do sometimes have my chocolate cereal with orange juice instead of milk

Cheerios or chex might be good with black coffee, I suddenly want to try this. Just cut out the middle man and have the perfect breakfast

I'll substitute milk with yogurt sometimes for cereal. Especially if I'm putting fruit like banana in it. Never another fluid though because that just...Wrong. Feeling.

How about kefir? I've had it over both hot and cold cereals and it's a great generic milk sub that can still be yogurtish

I really love granola with vanilla yogurt instead of milk—stole the idea from @jacktrash and have just fallen in love with it!

EDIT: Not sure about other cereals or other non-milk stuff though. Might have to try the coffee one...

Tangentially relevant aside: if you’re gonna put milk on, ALWAYS make sure it is in fact milk you’re about to pour on your cereal and that you are not about to douse it in vegetable broth. This is a mistake I made once years ago and have solemnly sworn to never make again. :P

I did that with buttermilk instead of regular once at my great grandparents' house. I was trying to be all self sufficient and not wake them, and grabbed the wrong thing. Talk about a horrible first bite, still can't stand the stuff.

I can't even imagine veggie broth though XP gross

I can’t see buttermilk on cereal being a pleasant experience either!

Only porridge, since it's tradition for us poor people ;-p to make it with plain water and salt. (I prefer cream and whisky in my porridge because indulgence.) That said, maybe overnight oats would be nice with something like a banana and coconut smoothie as the liquid component? If straying dangerously close to 'dessert for breakfast' territory.

I can't imagine boxed cold cereal being good with anything not milk adjacent. Ugh.

This assumes I have access to kefir. Which I do not. ALAS.

Okay, apologies if this is a super dumb question, but what are overnight oats?

Basically instead of cooking rolled oats in hot liquid, you soak them overnight in the fridge with usually milk and your choice of a variety of flavourings like cocoa, peanut butter, mint, fruits etc. Then it's ready to grab and eat in the morning.

overnight oats continue to baffle me, bc for me the heat is an essential component of porridge
why am I making oatmeal if not for to warm my cold little lizard body

@Loq true but its traditional here to set leftover porridge into... sort of a bar form to be eaten cold, so chilled oats is not really out of my comfort zone. Idk.
