I'm really in the minecraft youtube fandom now. this is really what I have become. I really have a google doc full of halfassed worldbuildign for an AU I'm never going to write. about minecraft youtubers. it's 2020 and I'm only now going through the minecraft phase I should have had 10 years ago but didn't because when I was 16 I liked things that were actually good, like star trek, and homestuck, and now half of my brain is timelining the events from 3 different smp servers to form them into a coherent backstory of an epic sci-fi au which, again, will never exist, and the other half of my brain is standing outside my body staring in silent horror as I continue to make these choices
these two songs belong together on a playlist about growing up on/with the internet but I don't know what any of the other songs are
I have a growing list of animatics and lyricstucks and fanvids which I have fully planned out in my head. about half of them are TMBG songs. I will probably never actually make any of these because my animation skill is Zero but they've been bouncing around my brain for ages and I gotta get them out SO Undertale: Don't Let's Start A lyricstuck about Sans's relationship to You (the player) via the fallen child and his gradual loss of hope. He struggles with his affection for Frisk versus his hatred of you and the bewildering changes in the fallen child's actions between one playthrough and the next, the situation made more painful and confusing by the fact that he doesn't even know if you and Frisk are separate beings. He only has very vague memories of the other timelines + the notes he writes to himself, but by now he knows the only thing he can be certain of is that you're inscrutable, capricious, cannot be reasoned or communicated with, and if you have a sense of morality it doesn't follow any lines he's familiar with. He struggles desperately to understand who the fallen child or the entity behind them really is, what they want, why they're doing this, but slowly slides into despair and gives up completely as he realizes it's impossible and there's nothing he can do to stop you from doing whatever you want with the people he loves, whether that's killing them all or making them love you. This one I have mentally planned out pretty much down to the last shot. It includes scenes from pacifist, genocide, and various neutral playthroughs. Every "Don't let's start" shows a hand or cursor hitting the reset button. I just. Really love sans. 4th Dimensional Transition A lyricstuck about Frisk and Chara sharing a body and soul. This one doesn't quite have the continuity of Don't Let's Start, it's just about them getting to know each other while not quite being separate enough beings to communicate. The scenes are all assorted moments from various playthroughs without a clear connection to each other. There is an undertone of the conflicting impulses they now share, the desire for peace and companionship versus the desire for violence and purpose. This comes to a head in the last verse, which shows scenes from the progression of a genocide run up until "or I'm heading down to breakfast", where it abruptly cuts to show Frisk(/Chara) doing just that some time post-true pacifist ending. The implication is that after several runs together they gave into the impulse and started a genocide run, but they abandoned it at the last possible moment, giving up the sense of purpose that the genocide run gave them and instead choosing to make the true pacifist ending their truth. The Adventure Zone: Let's Get This Over With An animatic following Barry Bluejeans from the 10 years he spent living in a cave post-Stolen Century, through his rediscovery of the THB and his interactions with them throughout canon, and up to the final battle. It compares Barry's relationship to human!Barry with his relationship to the THB. The themes are confusion and faith, and overall it's about how the trust and love between the IPRE family endures even when they've forgotten each other. The first verse and chorus are about amnesiac human!Barry's uneasiness and Barry's confusing relationship with himself. He chooses to trust the voice coming from the coin, but it doesn't explain things. He's not sure why he's doing what he's doing but he takes a leap of faith. The lyric "Creep across the ground until the day is done" is written as a speech bubble coming from the coin. The next two verses are Barry meeting the boys and all the times he contacts them during canon, trying to persuade them to trust him. "You're still hanging round the clambake" is their awkward get-together post-Wonderland, the start of last chorus is the Barry clone reveal in the cave, and it ends on Barry's POV of the final battle. God Only Knows A lyricstuck about the IPRE. It's pretty much what it says on the tin - god only knows what they'd be without each other. The IPRE are a family, they need each other and they make each other better. When they're broken apart each of them individually is also broken. This one isn't quite as complete in my head as some of the others but I have a lot of the shots planned out. It begins with a sweeping shot of the Starblaster sailing into a dark sky. The whole thing lowkey revolves around Lucretia and a lot of the "God only knows what I'd be without you" lines are shots of her. Her reliance on her individual strength almost destroyed the much greater strength she gained over the last hundred years, the strength of the bonds between her family. Mob Psycho 100: This Microphone A fanvid about Ritsu's personal journey regarding his self-hatred and resentment of his brother. His decision to become the student council president's enforcer was something Ritsu did to punish himself for hating Mob as well as a desperate attempt to get away from his feelings of powerlessness. He digs himself deeper and deeper, but then when things get as bad as they can be he realizes his problem is him, it's been him all along. This fanvid is less complex that some of the others. It's basically the main beats of Ritsu's arc set to some lyrics which really bring out the delicious angsty flavor.
thank u ^u^ i’m gonna be honest, every time i make a post that involves tmbg in any way I just kinda sit back and wait for u to show up lol I could have sworn you were into undertale at some point tho? my mind’s playing tricks on me.

love love LOVE the fact that the menu song is the transition between the true pacifist ending and the start to the genocide songs you the player truly are the villain here and it is through your interaction with the game world that everything gets fucked up
I HAVE REALIZED why minecraft youtube is as appealing to me as it is it contains my favorite thing emergent storytelling :D
FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE I WAS LIKE 12 I HAVE WRITTEN AND PUBLISHED A FANFICTION REGRETTABLY IT IS ABOUT MINECRAFT YOUTUBERS but like I actually like this fanfiction. I am happy with this fanfiction. this is a good fanfiction! if this fanfiction were a busker I would dig a large handful of loose change out of my pockets to drop in its guitar case!! and I'm a snob!! but I just really know how to cater to my own specific tastes apparently!!! it's only 800 words long but I kind of want to continue it!!!
