    Kay5 the most glorious spoon

Recently finished a birthday present for a friend in not even three weeks (after having tendonitis for months and not being allowed to knit). I asked them their favourite colours and they said 'the bi flag', so I was happy to oblige!

The yarn's all sparkly but still super soft, and I used double knitting for the snails at each end, to match with my friend's online username. Considering how long it's been since I could work on/finish a project, I'm pretty damn proud of myself.

The stupid hat lives! I hate it with all my heart and am not happy with it, but the recipient loves it and can’t wait to wear it to bars, apparently.

Fucking love people who find out I take commissions and ask if I have a friends and family discount after knowing me for less than a day.

Yes. I do. It's exclusively for blood relatives and people I've shared a bed with.

I also have a "we play the same larp" discount, where I'm kind and don't add an extra $50-$100 on top of the materials and labor cost.

And honestly, if this jackass tries any harder to get the f&f prices, he's not getting the amtgard prices either.

I have a few small skeins of dyeable, lace weight, cotton yarn, and a black walnut tree full of hulls that are starting to drop. Any suggestions on something I could make with the resulting yarn if I dyed it all that way?

if you like, knit it into a ball or something and stuff it with fluff, it could make a very nice family-friendly rock for throwing at belligerent guests

on a more serious note, it'd make gorgeous coasters if you have a nice table, or if you're into reenactment or SCA you could use it for making really pretty crafts

I've thought of that. I'm tempted to make a shawl of some sort since I think there's enough there to make one. I'll have to dig them out of the stash and see how much exactly is there. Though I'm not sure how well cotton would take to that.

it would be a good summer shawl! very drapey, definitely not overly toasty—I'd recommend looking at some of the "beach wrap" type stuff, or summer evening wear. Depending on how you do it up, it could be decently warm, I made partner a shawl out of lace weight bamboo and it keeps her shoulders cozy but goes right back in the box once the temperature drops.

these parameters (laceweight, shawl or wrap, in cotton) have 360 options alone: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/se...ertype=cotton&sort=best&view=captioned_thumbs

Spoonflower for fun (or custom!) patterns on cotton. I can't speak for the quality, since all I've done is window shop, but the selection is enormous and everyone I've talked to who used it has liked what they got.

Burnly and Trowbridge for wools, linens, cottons, threads, notions, and other really high quality natural fabrics. You pay a lot for what you get, but you get what you pay for.

Fabrics-store.com for linen and cotton. Huge selection of colors, all really high quality.

(I mostly sew for larps, so I mostly go for natural materials and limited color pallets. If you want synthetics, you might have to see if joanns will ship to your location)
