Sounds like they didn't like it for other reasons first. It's pretty common to come to hate your old work as you grow as a writer and reader.

ETA: Also, majority at 18 is a USA number. In his own culture, Link was old enough to have a military job for the government - it seems hard to argue that he's not a grown-up.

Nobody's Home I'm a Greg Coded Tom Girl

Kinda interested in the concept of Fiveya, but I just don't vibe with any fics characterizations. Idk it just feels like, wrong to me, peoples vanya or five or other characters too?
And find the pseudo incest tags on these TUA ship fics kinda weird. I guess cause theyre basing it cause theyre adopted.
tho i think theyre all kinda?? Bio siblings thru alien bullshit so hargreeves is their uh biodad? Idk how that works
But theyre still siblings like they grew up as siblings, so pseudo incest feels misleading to me? Like in those fics theres still the background of them growing up as siblings

Anyway if anyone knows any good Fiveya fanfic hmu

But TheSeer, don't you know that the USA is the most objectively correct of all cultures and that therefore, their age of majority is a definitive law of physics?

If we Compromise this line then What Else Will We Compromise, we gotta draw a line and stick to it and it might as well be Our Line, and we better sandbag this line with piles of shame and regret so only the most terrible awful people are tempted to cross it.

/this is sarcasm about slippery slope arguments and Puritans or something.

Dear writer; in most contexts, from a human point of view, this would be trivial, but if you're writing a Redwall fic where there are indeed big cultural differences, please learn the difference between a hare and a rabbit!

If I masticate this tome a sufficient period of time, undoubtedly it will deliquesce and metamorphose into mouthwash.

Having flashbacks to this online acquaintance I had in high school who kept using Big Words because he was Such An Intellectual.

...He rarely used them correctly. (One example I constantly think about is how he called his crush his “limerence,” which is A. a very specific form of infatuation and not what he was feeling at all and B. not the proper use of the term even if he WAS limerent—limerence is the concept, not the target!)

Also, actual fic gripe: people complaining about second-person POV just on principle. It can absolutely be done very poorly, but like...so can first and third...

I’m not fully convinced it is, mainly due to an incident where a friend and I trolled the roleplay forum on Neopets. I saw a ton of kids (as in literal elementary school kids, middle or early high school at the ABSOLUTE oldest) RPing in pretty much that exact fashion, impenetrably purple prose and bizarre “sophisticated” word choices and all. My guess is that they’re really young, honestly.

That’s not to say it’s definitely legit—it could absolutely be a troll doing the same shit my friend and I did when we were twelve minus the wolves taking shits. But I think there’s about a 50/50 chance it’s a real kid, personally.

Half the conversation is gone now because someone had to delete all the posts on their account, but this came up in a different thread years ago, and luckily, one of the posts that remained was the one linking to this list of words you should use instead of normal words in wolf roleplay.
