on the one hand, i dont want to half ass the characterizations, because even if im not putting this bs on AO3 there are still people reading who are familiar with the books. on the other hand the books are expensive and kind of nasty and depressing at times lol problematique fave
I needed a secondary title that was higher than duke but lower than king, i dont want a second family using the title of prince because that'll get readers confused with the royal children, but on the other hand i could just specify their land in their title? like Prince/Princess of 'insert lands here' this is getting close to spoiler territory (yes, there are a few spoilers i am trying to keep quiet) but i wanted to grumble about it. I dont want to turn the current duke class into marquess because it isnt as pretty of a word. my life is hard. i'll probably stick with the 'insert lands' option, for various reasons. edit: but also, arent there titles given to people who rule a land in the name of a monarch? cant think of em now. hmph.
You could use "prince/ss of the blood" for the royal children, too. I've seen that one a couple times.
Everything i planned this weekend is cancelled, im rewatching disenchantment all the way through because the third season is out because somewhere out there one of the gods still loves us To be frank tho it's a trickster God because they also brought us GoT and that Antebellum thing.
I kinda want to write an isekai but I feel like the fic is already halfway an isekei (dunno which way to spell so i did both) but I want an excuse to write a story set in harmonica town
Finished the last like Duffy book and got my notes in order There are so many feels ;-; tucked in there. You wouldn't think it from the majority of lukes writing but every now and then he's like "now im going to make the big tough man cry and hug his best friend before leaving him on the beach with a single bullet so he can enjoy the view before succumbing to the infection" or "here's a tougher, gruffer man having a heartfelt reunion with the love of his life" and I'm just :( Anyway I'm gonna try to get another chapter up by this weekend XD
OH HELL YES, thank you for this info! I still need to finish season 2 but aaaaaah Disenchantment Good.
I lied and havent watched it yet because i have to listen to it AND watch it but my adhd is like 'eyes, ears and hands must be doing at least 2 things at once or i will whine' so i dont want to listen to it while playing minecraft or muted stardew valley, but gotta hands. and i dont have a crochet project going right now i'll get over myself soon, lol
I had a plan for a distant family member, but then I changed it since that plot bunny wasnt grabbing me anymore. I've got a replacement bunny, and now I need to find a surname that isnt too silly (even though demonic surnames are allowed to be kind of silly, since they name themselves half the time) as well as name a character so he isn't referred to as "Derek's trueborn son" all the time. See, I make male OCs sometimes. Sometimes.
The plot thickens! Boy I love when I think of things that slot into other plot lines. Makes me feel clever.
Surname ended up doubling as a placename since im a sucker for those kind of names. Then I hit a wall with that bunny so I'm going to try to work on Onyx a bit more. I guess having several stories works for me, I can normally get ideas for one of them if the others aren't grabbing me.
Just found out about the app Libby (let's you access library online) and told my mom and she'd apparently known about it for a while! Like thanks for sharing the good news ma
Lost a page of rough draft, luckily there wasnt too much on there and i remember what there was. Still shitty tho And i lost it at work so hopefully no one found my dumb vampire stuff lol. Im the only one who writes at work so they'd know it was mine XD
a bougie notebook i got to feed my notebook hoard, that i will use to take notes on GoT now that i have access to a digital library and dont have to pay 50 dollars edit: the picture is....Large, i am sorry XD
i was briefly worried about what to do with the Iron Islanders but then i had an idea a wonderful idea do you really think they are going to turn up their noses at learning to sail on a sea of lava? absolutely not. they will have a grand old time. there will be casinos, and they will let tourists spar with locals, and take their sweet, sweet money. im sure they'll be very happy it will be like a weird, tacky platform stuck into the ocean like a stupid demonic venice. the islanders will have their own, less tacky platforms they actually live on. you dont have to sow, you dramatic babies, and we wont let you rape and pillage, so hopefully offering people an overpriced vacation will be a decent middle ground
I hope to give an Alex update this weekend, I haven't been able to sit down and work on his chapter for a while. I'm focusing on the Xuarius story for now, if I get a really good plot bunny with something else I'll branch out. Like that incredibly self indulgent private school story I'm brainstorming. Sometimes you just want to write about a bunch of beautiful, horny brats.
it bothers me when people treat Daenerys like some kind of goddess, i like her stubborn and naïve and prideful sides too. I like her character a lot , and Emilia Clarke is Very Pretty, but she's still learning? being a queen is hard when you havent been brought up to be one, thats one of the reasons i want to match her with Orchid. Orchid has a lot more power and control on her side, but she's more of a people pleaser because while she can be direct and forceful when she needs to, she doesnt want people to dislike her or see her family as tyrants. i want Dany to arrive and be frustrated at her loss of power, frustrated because she has to work with this child (who is pretty close to her age, but still, Orchid didnt have as many trials by fire lol) in order to make sure her people are treated well and are given all she can argue for them. she is going to arrive in an unknown place and continue to advocate for her people, and Orchid will at first be like "Oh, good, someone the Dothraki and people from Essos are familiar with, i can use her as a go-between" but despite Orchid's Big Gay Crush, she wont want to give them/her special privileges. I think Dany will be envious of Orchid's "easy" control, and Dany's experience with the people of the GoT world (and as a princess of a fallen house, and then an outsider to the Northerners, she's used to working from a similar place of distrust) will help Orchid get a handle on them. She'll also have the Lannisters and Starks giving her a hand, since Orchid's pretty close with the heads of those houses. I'm still working out how the courtship will go, but i think they'll make a good power couple. I have all these nice lofty ideas in my head, it's frustrating that i cant write it as prettily yet. I do have a habit of characters in general just going along with things, i guess im used to people screaming about 'rights' and refusing to use their brain-meats these days. I write people shrugging and going 'yeah thats fair. im alright with most of this and im willing to bring up my concerns in a mostly civil manner" because i like to pretend that is how most humans behave XD stupid loud minority skews things in my mind. but in stories i do like having people but heads and disagree. i just like to have them debate and banter and stalk angrily out of the palace to mope in the rose garden instead of what GRRMartin does and just...kinda kill people?? Thats boring. its harder to argue with dead people. they dont respond as much, you just yell at their grave and people think you're weird. I mean i guess it's historically accurate, but fuck history, most of the Xaurian history doesnt mirror earth's at all. I do what i want wweh
i've had a hard time writing recently, but after getting back into skyrim i started scribbling something down yknow, because i can never have too many side stories. i wrote Veralene as a Nord, and then i check the wiki and she's a Breton, which fucks with the fic because i had my MC marry her to have children who look like they belong in skyrim more than he does, since it's odd enough that he's gotten so involved in the economy...and politics...and is Dragonborn thanks to a bit of Septim blood a few generations back. So after their wedding when he admits that one of the reasons he married her is for more nordic looking children, i like to think she gets real quiet because she is a Breton but she doesnt want to correct him. She gets quiet when he says that already, but now theres more reason than i already wrote down lol. at first i was like "i'll just make her a nord anyway, fuck it" but its kind of funnier if a Dunmer can't tell the difference between human races very well and marries a Breton instead of a Nord on accident. It doesnt matter too much in the end, the kids will still take after her and stick out less. So when he does find out he'll be like "well, whoops. she lived near Helgen, i assumed she was a Nord."
