I've heard of Made In Abyss but I haven't watched it yet, it looks good though! The art style reminds me of Tegami Bachi a little.

After rereading Order of the Stick, I want to start following all my statements of what I intend to do with "Then I return to Asgard to woo goddesses and drink an ocean's worth of beer. Huzzah!"

Something that fucks me up sometimes is the thought that one day, many generations from now, games like beat saber and super hot are going to be thought of like we think of pong now and no one except game and cultural historians are going to even know what pong is

Had a fucked up dream last night.

if a kid didn't do well enough in school, or an adult didn't do well enough at their required job, they'd just straight up be enslaved by people called Enforcers. it was a complete surveillance state, and people would be rewarded for ratting out people who weren't reporting bad things properly or who were trying to shelter people from being collected.

Me, being neurodivergent, fucked up in elementary school apparently. And the fuckers just came in the middle of the night in these weird flying buglike machines and ransacked the house collecting everyone to be taken to some Education Center.

Everyone captured got split up from their families. Because they were apparently Not Good Enough for 'educated' jobs or material to be taught to them in schools, the options given were jobs nobody else wanted. Thankless jobs that kept society going and the cities running, but under the constant lock and key of literal slavers who'd fuck you up if anyone in the Educated class decided they didn't like your face or activity well enough.

Woke up with my heart in full tachy mode and chest pain, it was Intense.

So I’m a huge fan of a specific subreddit, r/HobbyDrama. As the name indicates, it’s a subreddit for writeups of drama in various hobbies, from fandom to chess to gardening and everything in between. What sets it apart from other drama subs, though, is the consistently high quality of the writeups—they’re generally of a decent length at minimum, going into detail about the events, key players, and background, and tend to be nuanced and respectful. It’s a really fun place to browse, and the culture is genuinely lovely—lots of legitimate passion, in a kind and welcoming environment!

Anyway, this is all to say that a recent post has been living rent-free in my head, and I think it might very well be the best writeup I’ve ever seen there—which, given what I just said about the sub’s content as a whole, is saying a lot. It details the origins and spread of an old viral clip, specifically its spread around the Latin American internet…and a bizarre cult that sprung up as a result. It’s long as fuck but I was utterly engrossed the entire time, and I just need to scream about it.

Presenting, the story of Obey The Walrus. As a heads-up, it’s definitely heavy in places (there’s a warning at the beginning, so I won’t reiterate the specifics here), but holy fuck is it compelling, and it’s so brilliantly told. I legit teared up a lil at the end.

Want to try a meat-free day each week but Quorn tastes horrible. Still, I guess I don't need fake meat, I can just get protein from pulses on that day or something.

Oh wow! I’ve been a fan of the Goddess Bunny since high school. An extremely casual fan, but a fan nonetheless. I was saddened to hear of her passing earlier this year. It’s terrible that happy footage of her just dancing was used exploitatively like this. I had no idea. But I’m so glad that the write up treats her respectfully. I’m only part of the way through, but this is a very compassionately written Ride. Thanks for linking!

The Impossible burger patties are delicious, I wouldn't say they're perfect but from experience I can tell you they taste an awful lot like a real burger. Also Morningstar nuggets are great if you can afford them (not many come in a bag)

I realize this may be moot though cause I dunno if they sell outside the US

I can also vouch for Impossible Burgers being really good. Beyond’s products tend to be lovely too—we’re a big fan of their burgers and sausages in my household!

Morningstar Farms’ chicken is also really tasty. The patties make for a great quick sandwich—just nuke one and put it on a bun with some mayo and cheese and voila!

EDIT: Although like Deresto said, I’m not sure if they’re sold in the UK or not. Any Brits here know if they’re available in your neck of the woods?

HobbyDrama fills a hole in my heart that was once occupied by Fandom Wank. They're aren't completely the same but I have a longstanding need to watch arguments about shit I have absolutely no emotional investment in. HobbyDrama has this general aura of respectability, but Fandom Wank was more like being pulled behind the stairwell by some classmates for hot goss. Also HobbyDrama has wider net than "petty fandom arguments", so I can learn about fencingor horses or knitters vs the Olympics or whatever. It's pretty great.

I’ve always enjoyed Linda McCartney frozen burgers as a fake meat option.

I tried one kind of those and hated them, they had barbecue sauce in and I don't like that. I'll check out other flavours.

Possible proof of face-blindness; I confused a depiction of Prince Harry with one of Doctor Who's portrayal of Vincent van Gogh.

UK human: i generally avoid the fake meat vegetarian options but aldi, co-op, iceland and sainsburys all have decent veggie fingers, veggie burgers and bean burgers available

    eta: in the freezer section.
i have previously also acquired some form of impossible burger or impossible burger knock-off but i can no longer remember where. but they do exist in some form over here.

Bean burgers are delicious if you go in knowing they’re nothing like beef, imo. They’re especially good with Mexican and adjacent toppings like guacamole and salsa!

Recently learned there are other games centered around Japanese authors like the Bsd Mayoi game, unfortunately they're only available in Japan. Damn my new special interests. Wish I could play the otome game and romance authors I love.

Belated, but seconded—the video itself is honestly so sweet? She’s just having a good time and being cheered on, it’s frankly wholesome as fuck!

And agreed re: the writeup being so respectful. I won’t spoil what OP says about her at the end of it, but it made me tear up a bit (in a good way).
