I fully agree with some criticism my friend group and I got on our mega-fic that we didn't have much in terms of Central and North Asian representation despite repping most other ethnicities. I'm happy to add some in. But when the criticiser tries to claim that we're falling into the "yellow peril" trope by having Middle Eastern and South Asian villains, which are not the same as the East Asian villains that trope describes and we also have good characters of those ethnicities and a higher proportion of white villains... I kinda get the idea they don't know as much as they think they do about the topic.

ETA: Also, if you bitch us out for suggesting codename ideas connected to the cultures/languages the characters belong to (it's a gimmick of the fic) for "othering", maybe you shouldn't have every name of the stories you write and insist we include be in those languages.

To the same guy mentioned above: look, dickhead, if I make a suggestion you don't like, "no, that has unfortunate implications you didn't think about and here's why" is fine and would be replied to with "oh, sorry, I'll change it". "Well I SUPPOSE you can do this INCREDIBLY OFFENSIVE THING and I'll BEND OVER BACKWARDS to accommodated you" is not and makes you the obnoxious one.

And now he's taking his ball and going home because I told him not to talk to me like that and he somehow interpreted it as me hating non-Americans, even though he knows full well I am not American.

And he's now posted a long, long, long complaint about me on the group fic, apparently under the impression that I wasn't telling my cowriters what we were talking about when it pertained directly to the fic in question. Duh.

Abovementioned dickhead is back and now posting comments in his author's notes on his own fic about how we allegedly suicide baited him and calling us "mentally unstable".

Is it weird that my biggest objection to Hetalia's notoriously OOC/ungrammatical gratuitous gorefic "Debt" is that I'm pretty sure it was already established when it came out that nation-tans can regenerate damage to their human forms?

Nobody's Home I'm a Greg Coded Tom Girl

I'm trawling through the Ingo/Emmet tag on ao3 because I've been seeing so much of them on my dash and after reading up on circumstances I am sooo intrigued. It's angsty, and I want them to reunite please!!!

But alas, theres only so so few fic on ao3.
Hrgg I only found 2 fic that's not
    - porn only (thats not what I want to read)
    - gender swap m/f
    - not brothers anymore AU (sometimes its also genderswapped m/f)
    - written before arceus (thats the last of their pages on ao3, 1/3 of the fic that currently exist )

Woe, woe the lack of fic

I encountered some truly dire m/f smut of the "this author was almost certainly a cishet dude with no experience of how bodies work outside of mainstream het porn and hentai" school and am now burdened with the cursed realization that if the parties involved were remotely in-character, its very generic dubcon porn premise would... actually have potential to explore some complex and fascinating emotional dynamics with these two characters that you could make perfectly match the mood of canon.

We're talking "the word 'boobs' used in narration that's meant to be hot" bad. "Half an hour of oral sex with no orgasm and this is not portrayed as either edging or the character not being very good at it" bad. Actual quotes included ""No..don't kill me." She screamed in fear." and ""Good night sugar tits." He murmured hotly into her ear." That kind of bad.

The reason this haunts me is because this is fucking Darker than Black fic. I'm going to spoiler this both because knowing the pairing allegedly saying that scintillating dialogue may cause serious psychic damage to people familiar with the show and because it gets into spoilers for the single season that exists (this fic also commits the unforgivable sin of acting like there is a second season), but...
this is Hei/Misaki Kirihara Sexy Home Invader dubcon/noncon. (It was not tagged for dubcon/noncon.) For those unfamiliar, DtB is an excellent sci-fi seinen anime where some sort of incomprehensible reality-bending event happened ten years ago that dropped a dimensional anomaly in the middle of Tokyo and made people start developing superpowers, and the story is about the web of underworld crime and espionage that developed in Tokyo since, and how it interacts with the lives of normal people who happen to get sucked in. The protagonist is Hei, an elite agent for a criminal syndicate, who balances being the kind of chuuni badass nicknamed "The Black Reaper" and fan-nicknamed "Chinese Electric Batman" with the fact that his day to day life mostly consists of working a series of depressing minimum-wage jobs, not speaking to anyone, and then going home to an apartment that is neither furnished nor decorated over the entire course of the show. Misaki Kirihara, the occasional narrator and occasional deuteragonist, is the head of the Tokyo police department responsible for investigating superpowered crime, and in classic identity porn way the two of them just kind of vibe, to the point where the last episode before the finale is mostly just the two of them... hanging out and having fun. They get lunch and laugh about food getting stuck on their faces and play baseball badly, two episodes before Kirihara addresses the scary masked assassin by the name of the dorky foreign exchange student. Their relationship is a deep thematic well to draw from, especially because one of the big reveals of the finale is that the Syndicate and the government are the same organization: these two people who are allegedly on such completely different ends of the law are ultimately both pawns of the same powers that be.

So I'm looking at this dreadful OOC porn and putting my head in my hands at the horrified realization that... you could write really good Sexy Home Invader Hei/Misaki dubcon. Because Hei was already a deeply isolated person, and his actions in the finale put a target on his back with the Syndicate that means he may not ever be able to live a stable life in one place ever again. The singular person he can trust completely is dependent on him and nearly nonverbal. He can't even develop relationships with new people to the extent he did in the series, because anyone he meets might be an undercover Syndicate agent, and anyone who isn't would be in danger from the Syndicate trying to get to him. So in a weird way, someone who's already involved, has already expressed interest in and affection for him, and whose interests are opposed to his but in a way that is a known quantity is one of the safest people for him to seek out, as long as he is in control. As long as it couldn't possibly be a trap. And Misaki isn't stupid- she'd have a pretty good idea of what he was taking on himself by betraying the Syndicate- and she's pretty sure that if she actually said no he'd leave and she'd never see him again, because the thing about trying to understand what makes the Black Reaper tick is that if you look at the details of how he operates you start to see evidence that this professional killer with a 3-digit body count just... doesn't enjoy hurting people. But she can't say yes, either, because they both need that illusion of nonconsent, because to do otherwise would put it in a dangerous category: a betrayal of her principles to Kirihara, and a potentially fatal emotional weak point to Hei. You could get into the emotional complexities of the fact that a scary criminal sneaking in the window of a sleeping woman to pressure her into sex with threats of violence is exactly the kind of thing Kirihara went into law enforcement thinking she was going to prevent, but here she is cooperating with it and not even sure if the person who should be the villain is really that much worse than her. That the simple fact that they like each other is something that they can only express from behind a mutually-uncontested lie about the kind of person Hei is, and the loss of one lie has only led to it being replaced by one that's equally untrue.
I believe that, at this point, I am owed financial compensation for emotional damages.

i feel like the conclusion here is that YOU ought to write that fic because that concept sounds VERY tasty.

I'd say something snarky and disparaging about my faith in my own ability to write dubcon smut, but I am forced to admit that nothing I wrote could possibly be worse than "Good night sugar tits."

There's probably Reylo fic where I could search-replace the names and have something more in-character than that, and if that isn't damning I don't know what is.

My current gripe: No one has written the Scholomance/Encanto crossover fic I have stuck in my head, including me,* and the fandom base for the Scholomance series is small enough that they probably won’t anytime soon.

Oh, yeah, that’s my other gripe: not enough people fandoming for the Scholomance series, I cannot rave about it with anyone, or rather, bask secondhand in the ravings of anyone else, since I am not super prone to writing out loud at the moment.

Sigh. Siiiiigh. (Hey, anyone else here read the Scholomance series by Naomi Novik? I have. It good. Yup.)

*Reason I don’t number the second, I don’t know enough about Columbian culture or folk magic practices to do the concept justice; reason the first, I never actually write any of the fic ideas that get stuck in my head, I just let them sit there and polish them occasionally until I move on to my next hyperfixation.

I'm not against RPF in general, but implying that one of a fictional fandom's main characters secretly was a real-life famous serial killer who was operating within living memory feels a little... erm. Maybe I'm being overly sensitive, but it feels a little creepy.
