I have now viewed the episode. Spoiler: i made a backup spoiler, or as i like to call it, spoiley-fresh! Townsfolk trying to figure out how to appease Bill. Very plausible. Poor things. Bill is trapped in Gravity Falls! Has this been foreshadowed? I don't remember it being foreshadowed. I'm really worried about what's going to happen to Ford if/when Bill does wake him up and attempt to press him into service. Although I would be glad to see him breathing and talking and doing stuff again. I was kinda surprised that Wendy and Soos succumbed to the temptations of Mabel Land so easily. Called that encounter with Wendy by the water being fake the moment she showed up. DIPPER AND MABEL CHILDHOOD FLASHBACKS apparently Dipper's been going by Dipper for a while why do we not know his other name yet, c'mon It's not a surprise at this point and I think it's ultimately going to be for the best, but at first pass I'm feeling sad about Dipper deciding against the apprenticeship. This probably has more to do with worries/assumptions about how this is going to tie into fan interpretations of things than with my feelings about the actual characters. I still wish the kids had had time to actually sit down and think about/discuss the matter without the pressures of adrenaline/failed party planning/the apocalypse weighing on them, but Dipper's speech seemed heartfelt, not just something he was saying in the moment to placate Mabel so they could escape, so I respect it. It was also very sweet of Mabel to say at the end that she was willing to try to make it work if it was what Dipper really wanted. The fact that she said that, and the fact that Dipper reiterated his decision without hesitation once they were out of the bubble, gives me faith in them and in Dipper's choice. Bubble world with its cheerful surface pulled back to reveal the Billishness beneath = terrifying. Dipper still doesn't know how the rift actually got broken. And it seems like Mabel doesn't remember? Interesting. The Shack is still protected, looks like. RESISTANCE LEADER STAN HECK TO THE YES. oh and hey McGucket's there! Wonder what contribution he'll make to the FINAL SHOWDOWN.
Spoiler: oh also parallels: NWHS: "This thing could destroy the universe! Listen to your head!" W2: "Stop listening to your head and listen to your heart!" AToTS: Stan throwing punch on himself after Ford got punch thrown on him W2: Dipper shaving part of his head because Mabel's hair was ruined (I mean he could have just let her borrow his hat but hey that works too) Spoiler: EDIT: also also We still don't know why Bill put Mabel in the bubble in the first place. Was it supposed to trap Mabel and other wheel people who are connected with her? Contain and/or channel Mabel's power? Whatever it was supposed to do, it has failed.
Spoiler: we'll always have paris If you want the world where Dipper takes the apprenticeship, it's in another forum right here on Kintsugi. Of course, he's also dating a troll girl, so there's that.
Spoiler: the artist formerly known as shitposting rave Oh god, I was reading along with that thread but I'm SO far behind now. Always happy to see a depiction of Ford and Dipper's relationship that doesn't paint the former as malicious or uncaring, though. Maybe I'll sit myself down to catch up.

Spoiler: keep this in mind This is not the last episode. I don't think Dipper will stay with Ford in canon, but someone set the Bill trap, and if it's who I think it is that could change things...

Spoiler: and people getting tempted by mabel land too - which wasn't that surprising to me, since, well, in mabel land, they could literally get exactly what they wanted. and mabel kinda reminded me of julissa, the way she talked about mabel land and tried to distract everyone with their deepest desires - though i think mabel was far more sincere about it than julissa was. mabel also reminded me of norm, of when he was in mabel's bubble and how he felt about it. just whoa, mabel...

Spoiler: whee I was pretty sure Mabel's bubble was gonna be a Lotus Eaters-type situation and it was so much better than I expected. Also the bees and art students line made me giggle and the cool bros discussing Sartre had me about falling out of my chair.
