20151111_092023.jpg @Avari I actually picked up some self-striping stuff, because I'm hella ADHD and it's a good way to keep my attention span intact. Also the spots where the colors change are super nice.

The yarn I've been using a lot is Loops&Threads Charisma, because it feels pretty nice and they have neat colour patterns... picture below is a few 5"x5"ish swatches I'm putting together with the intent of turning them into a patchwork rabbit! :3c

    ...blanket, not rabbit.

The second pic is my slow-going blanket to be. I made it way too wide for a scarf, so~~~~~

I love Charisma! I'm doing a basket-weave stitch afghan (HUGE MISTAKE, that stitch takes SO MUCH yarn) in that exact teal/grey/black/blue yarn. It's not striping, instead it looks uncannily like the Navy's digital camouflage uniforms, which is convenient, since it's for a Navy guy.

Found out last night that nail clippers work as wire cutters when you cant find/dont have actual wire cutters.

@Zin can you tell me which Charisma yarns are which swatches? I want to buy some, but I can't find as many swatch pictures as I'd like.

    The scarf is Black Raspberry.

The blues are... Lakeside, I think.

    The green/maroonish/whitish series are Holiday.

I'm actually going to be doing swatches in most of the colours I have, so I'll be posting those as I work through them. My 5×5s should be in the order they stripe in, and I'll see if I can get better lighting. The Holiday wasn't a colour set I liked until I started working with it, but the green red contrast is hooomg.

Hey I'm wondering if the recent yarn talk belongs more in the fiber arts thread? Someone there might be able to help more with swatches it looks like(granted I don't really know anything about knitting lol but that thread seems to mostly be that).

There's knitting in both threads, but I'd be happy to move discussion there, I guess?

^^aking a si^^ple little tvrtle plvsh, stvck on one bit of the instvctions. I dvnno what "darts" are in the context of sewing. I'^^ gvessing that they're the ^^arkings on the shell to ^^ake it look all, vh, "shell-y", bvt if that's the case, then where are they svpposed to go? The instrvctions are very vnclear and I a^^ stv^^ped. Still, I got so^^ething good ovt of this! The head was ^^ore co^^plicated than anything I've ever sewn before, and it ca^^e ovt pretty good, I think! I'll figvre ovt the shell enventvally, and the body ca^^e ovt better than I was expecting! Gonna try and ^^ake so^^e ^^ore plvshes! ^^o^^'s got an excess of fabric fro^^ her sewing days, and I've got a ton of stvffing left over fro^^ the chocobo tsv^^ tsv^^. So if anyone's got so^^e neat patterns for beginners that they covld point ^^e at that'd be great!

.... wow, upside down pictures are kinda disorienting this time of night... o_o this is an amazing sense of vertigo, i love it.

Is the blanket a red yarn with bits of gold to it?

@tinyhydra darts are basically little triangles you cut out of the fabric, and then you see those new edges in the fabric to each other. Like how some button up shirts have darts in the sides for people with boobs. Basically what it does is it makes the piece rounder. In your pattern's case, it's to make the shell more 3D and half circle-ish.

And idk if you're a homestuck, but this is a cute and easy Vodka Mutini plush pattern. The directions and rest of the pattern are linked in the artists comment(also she has several other patterns too- great smuppet pattern) http://lishlitz.deviantart.com/art/Vodka-Mutini-sewing-pattern-Pg-1-289403995

It's the Fordham colour in Mizrahi's University yarn!

http://www.michaels.com/isaac-mizra...var_M10432330_color=Barnard#q=mizrahi&start=4 <- has better colour example.

It's more of a maroon with gold and copper ribbon threaded into the yarn itself. I made it too big... and decided to go full blown blanket... I'll be using. Like. 12 skeins? Probably? Is a lotta yarn. 0.0
