Excellent place names

All the Penny Lines.

 

My favourite street name has always been the one in the city I was born in and live nearby to, which is Avenue Road. Because it's so pointlessly generic.

 

There's a "Street Road" somewhere in either Montgomery or Bucks County in PA.

 

Wow. Do the people who name these just suffer critical imagination failures, or are they doing it on purpose?

 

Street can be a surname, so it's possible it was named after a Jonathon Street or something.

 

That's true. I still wonder if the irony was recognised though. xP

 

You can tell the exact point where the old cartographers in Utah started to get lonely, because you start getting names like "Nipple Butte".


Also, in terms of weird names in the Southwest,

 

"Cat walked over the keyboard" road.

 

Alphabetically last place in US place names, unsurprisingly.

 

There's a town in a province in the Netherlands (where I live) which is called 'Sexbierum'.
I'm sure you can guess the translation, but it's: sex beer um :P
