Finally feeling well and fit enough that these last few days I've been fighting the intrusive thought to just, pick up my mum and walk off with her. I'm more than capable, but we're about the same height and I know she wouldn't enjoy the experience.

Still, it's nice to have my brain going 'FLEX STRONK MUSCLES' rather than 'OW MY HIP' XD

Once again wishing we had a doggo. A Labrador wouldn't mind my implusive urge to carry it around the house like a worker ant with a giant cooki crumb XD

Got to go to the library today. Hello good cozy home library, the ones in sister's city were nice but I have missed you. <3

I was also planning on trying to see a friend and buy some cosplay supplies but apparently I was a lot more tired than I realized, and wound up crashing pretty hard after I got home with my book haul.

Lament: why does coffee have to taste so good but fuck with my body so horribly?

Query: is there anything as bitter that I can drink that won't punch me in the stomach and leave me jittery? I just want the Taste

Statement: if there was a beer that had that nice Fermented Taste without the alcohol part I would rejoice a thousand fold

No I don't know why I wrote this post like this, pls help me

Watching Fall and apparently I do not have the tolerance for heights that I thought I did. Well, I knew I feared falling, even just tripping, because I'm a clumsy fucker. I just didn't realise more height made it that much worse.

Couple of my friends and I were helping another friend cook stir fry for the first time, and, well... The end result was slightly mitigated by this quote

"Look, when food is no longer food then it's not food waste, okay? It's me and [blank]'s pay weeks we can get you back for the money and order you some pizza at least. Keep grinding on your eggs and omelettes, though, you're getting really good."

Friend A never got taught and was a takeout kid from birth, so me and Friend B have been slowly helping him out there. I'm lucky in that I had my folks around enough to learn by monkey-see-monkey-do osmosis, and Friend B's dad is a professional chef.

I cried happy tears the first time another friend served me the best damn lasagne I've ever had, after teaching her the basics and encouraging her to keep practicing. I'm really hoping Friend A gits gud the same way <3

....I've been churning out NaPoWriMo like a boss this year, and some of it seems like it might be pretty nice although a lot of it is also venty. Considering whether I should make myself a poetry thread around here, do you think anyone would be into that?

You can make your own if you like, but there is an existing poetry thread for original pieces. I know originally forum etiquette on here was to revive older threads if relevant to keep things tidy, but I'm not sure if things have changed.

You could make a new public one, make one just for your personal use, or post in the older one and it would probably be received just fine no matter what :D

Now I know I'm getting old. I couldn't think of anything to spend my Xmas Amazon money on until I gave up and put it towards a posture pillow and a steam cleaner rather than anything frivolous. Still, I actually needed those things, so yeah.

If the two ends of the mammalian sex spectrum are 'amab' and 'afab' then I'm convinced that the two ends of the feline gender spectrum are 'baby' and 'bastard'

I'm tipsy so I'm not wording that well but I'm sure of it and I have both lol

I hate when horror movies play scary music when nothing scary is happening on screen. Oh no, the child is picking flowers!

Does anyone else have trouble with accidentally sneaking up on people? Frequently I'll walk up to someone and they don't notice me, and I kinda just stand there and freak out mentally on how to let them know I'm there without jumpscaring them, and then they notice me while I'm thinking too hard about it and startle. I've even gone as far as quietly backing away and coming up more noisily, only for them to ask what I'm doing. It's weird

Kind of weird glitch in the matrix. I could have sworn I was already thirty-four, but today at the doctor he said I wasn't yet and when I checked he was right. Apparently writers really cannot math.

My mom thought she was 42 when she was 41 until a year later she actually turned 42 as pointed out by my grandma

For reference she was a choir teacher at the time and leans towards the arts if you're interested :0c

I've been starting to call myself 'nearly' my next age for a bit before my birthdays because a piece of my brain is Not Okay with me being in my late 20s and i've been trying to make the number shifts a softer blow by taking it gradually, but boy do i nearly lose track of my actual age sometimes. I think everyone's been having trouble with the aftereffects of the covid time dilation, too. i've got a solid year in there that feels like it didn't actually happen

COVID time dilation sounds like a likely cause.

Subscribed to criterion channel for older horror movies and ended up watching a lot of movie commentary and video essays. I like listening to people talk about movies they like, because it makes me want to watch those movies. Sometimes I have a hard time deciding what I want to watch, and listening to what other people think about movies makes it easier to pick one.

I've had this idea for a while and completely failed to do anything with it so I'm releasing it into the wild in the vague hope it will return in a few years fully fledged so I can experience it -

A well staffed and funded orphanage/care home for nonhuman horror movie children. They're KIDS, they need to have their natural needs met and having caregivers who don't meet those needs is how they become man-eaters and serial killers.

Example: Samara Morgan. She was clearly one of these 'cuckoo' children who's adoptive parents were unprepared to deal with what they brought home. If she had some friends and had people who were either unafraid or unaffected by her nightmare powers, things wouldn't have gone so badly for everyone involved. At the very least she wouldn't have been isolated in a barn and in a lab and given more reasons to like people rather than resent them/want to play with them like a cat does a mouse.

Obviously scrub off any serial numbers and change any names, but also my visualisation for the setting was Eel Marsh house from The Woman In Black. Jennet would make a good patron saint for such kids, and it might chill her out some to have children around who were also unwanted and are significantly harder to kill than her usual prey.
