Delightful every time: when somebody gets into a really niche bit of canon and expands on it with fleshed out characters and world building and 'what-if"s for like 50,000 words or more
Just read a fic that ended with a bibliography and formatted citations, other writers need to step the fuck up
there is so much good fic in the MDZS and SVSSS fandoms. and I assume also TGCF, when I get around to reading it. I am so spoiled by choice right now. I am rolling around in the ao3 tags like a 2 foot thick feather mattress and I am loving it.
I have reread a great fic (Danny Phantom x Batman crossover; Danny is reincarnated as Tim's clone, courtesy of Ra's being a creep, and upon him getting to Tim and being deprogrammed they decide to play a prank on the batfam and pretend to have been twins all along) and discovered that there is now a podfic!
addendum: and so much of it is smutty. really good smut, even. really, really good smut. I haven't been in a fandom this unselfconsciously horny in years. how are these fandoms this big and yet this free from the junior anti-sex brigade. I've fallen into paradise.
I don't think you can really have SVSSS antis. The spirit of Airplane would come down and make fun of you or something.
lmfao But yeah, honestly, I don't know how folks who are so anti-shipping in fandom that they define themselves as such would like, get through reading SVSSS. The multitude of references and framing mechanisms hinging on how PIDW was a stallion novel, with all the tropes that entails, as it veers off to different but no less shippy tropes of the somewhat tragic BL with all the layered power differences? One would need to be Peerless Cucumber levels of determined to enjoy what the story "should" have been.
I love hidden details the author sneaks in for the people paying attention enough to figure them out. Especially when they are ridiculous. I'm rereading a certain crossover I like and I just realized that the League of Villains keeps having to change hideouts because Bandit Keith is repeatedly doxxing Shigaraki over some kind of rival-toxic-livestreamers beef. None of the main characters know that, it's not really plot-relevant probably, neither Shigaraki or Keith have any idea that the other one is important, but now I know it and I'm cackling.
