Very unclear why we need the Doom 3 specifications, isn't it the same Doom Guy Slayer Marine for the whole franchise?
Doom 3 is... uh, very different. It's a slower paced, almost horror-shooter sort of game, and almost certainly takes place in a different continuity.
"This is gonna get weird before it gets finished" "Not pre- post- or even during-canon but a secret fourth thing" "No beta we die like any time-looper worth their salt" "Tape Recorders - Freeform" "No beta we die like 5/6ths of best girl" "Universe sort of lives" "forcing ground control to go flying" "the sun" in the character tags (as in, the astronomical body. which had a PoV chapter.) "situationship - Freeform" "no beta we die like., uh. well. not this thing" <- two tags, the comma is where one tag ends
are these SVSSS? "Canon Divergence: Lube" just screams SVSSS, and I think I've seen the canonical ass wine tag before.
yup lmao. the ass wine is indeed canonical. it turns out MXTX is one of those writers who will make you read as many words as she writes about things you thought you were not remotely into because she's just that good.
I'm in this awkward position where I've read like 2 million words of svsss fic but haven't... read... the actual svsss yet.
I recommend this audiobook, if you're an audiobook person: https://www.youtube.com/@magicpotatoobsession It's an amateur recording but she's really good. Got me through like two weeks of work shifts lol. SVSSS is fantastic and you will definitely love it
ahh, thanks but audiobooks are a no-go for me. I own it, it's on my e-reader, it's just that my Fanfic Brain and my Novel Brain don't always activate at the same time so I gotta wait until I'm in the mood for books. I don't know why it works that way.
Gods, now I have to download that. I've already been listening to Pride Is Not The Word (lengthy SVSSS fanfic, been podficced) at work, why not SVSSS itself?
I mean, I love it. (Enough that I did a for-myself podfic of the direct sequel, and intend to fill out the set eventually.) It is very much the kind of fixit fic I love, where knowing how bad things could have been makes the accumulated changes feel so important, characters get enjoyable arcs that explore different possibilities, and there's still enough uncertainty and ways things could go wrong that it's not a simple Everything Better Forever. That said, kind of like SVSSS is a significant tonal and genre change from what we're told PIDW was, PINTW is also a pretty significant tonal change in different directions? So I can easily imagine that some of what people love SVSSS for is not there enough for them to like it! Check it out if you enjoy fixit fics and might enjoy an AU that diverges from pre-canon SQH making some guilt-inspired impulse choices that have domino effects that leave him in so so much anxiety. :P (Edit for a couple typos and a missing word)
