hey anybody who needs an assist with materials and does not have fun grinding to find/acquire/refine them, ping me here and i'll hook you up i'm at the point in the game where i am considering building a house out of diamond blocks with manyullyn trim so i am likely to have a lot of early game stuff or tools i will never ever use again etc.
do people want this thread kept to just server-related stuff, with unrelated minecraft chatter happening in the other minecraft thread? or do people want everything folded into one place? or does it not matter particularly? bc i want to babble about another modpack i'm really hype about, but i'm not sure where the right place is. (...and since i'm the OP of the other one, i dun wanna look passive-aggressive and territorial by necro'ing my own thread....)
Yay I minecrafted! I'm not sure why, but my base on Seebs' server is basically ADHD: The Building, to an extent greater than it has been in any game of minecraft I have played previously, and I am including the one where I decided to turn an entire desert into glass. (The result, I mean. Really distracting to navigate that thing around the edges. If I named it after what inspired me to build it, it'd probably be more like I Hate Sand And Am Feeling Very Compulsive This Year: The Building.) Anyway, today I got to find out what it's like to drag a chicken on a leash through ADHD: The Building. Still trying to remember why exactly I felt the need to drag a chicken upstairs, but hey, at least I didn't lose the chicken. Yet, anyway.
The Homosphere (my new base!) is nearing completion and I suddenly realised it looks like it's got some goatse-esque shit going on with the tower. Maybe I should rethink this design...
It's been a while since I've minecrafted so I thought I'd load up the Kintsugi server and I got this... Anyone have any ideas what this is about?
@Elaienar helped me figure it out. My java had gotten messed up and I had to re-install the correct version!
Ha, forgot that this place existed... Is my base still there? It's the really crappy wooden one at the end of the south railway. Unless the world got reset at some point...
@Astrodynamicist personally I would prefer general minecraft chatter in the other thread. At least, that is what I have recommended in my Newbie Guide, which HOPEFULLY will be posted eventually as I have just spent another few hours working on it, and have just finished my... third or fourth (AND HOPEFULLY LAST DEAR GOD) full reread of this thread. So yes. General chatter in the Minecraft-exclamation-mark thread if you please, so if I DO have to read this thread again it's, you know, shorter. XD @N I have you down as techcraft228 in my notes, is that correct? If so, I am pretty sure you are north of spawn. Keffy/Vmaprie/Nehiretanaan (I think those three are all the same person) is at the end of the South Line, unless I have severely messed something up. Which is possible. On the other hand, if you are techcraft228, your base is definitely still there! yay! it is just maybe not exactly where you thought it was. :) Also I have not been on in several weeks because Fallout 4 happened. BUT I am tentatively back, maybe.

I got jonesin' for some Minecraft recently and logged back in. I can't remember a single goddamn thing I was doing.
No idea if this is still a very active thing or not, but (after an hour or so) I managed to get everything downloaded and the launcher to cooperate. I'm definitely going to be a serious newb because I'm mostly experienced with vanilla + a handful of random mods like 3 years ago. I'm going to try wandering around in single player with these mods to see if that will help, but generating a new single-player world is going... slowly. @seebs can I be whitelisted? Minecraft name is graveexcitement.

It's still a thing! It's been very quiet lately but I was just on last night. Luka was the only other person there.
Yeah, I'm definitely still writing that newbie guide but it's kind of been put on hold for a bit because the computer it's saved on needs to have a part replaced. I do have some newbie tips to tide you over though! you will spawn on seebs' roof. hold shift to drop through the glass platform in the middle. (it took me forever to figure that out, lol.) numpad 0 to configure the thing at the top of your screen that shows up whenever you look at something minimap hotkeys are J and M (there's two minimaps) you won't lose your inventory when you die so if you get lost suicide is a viable emergency transportation option (there's something you don't hear every day...) the big white building near jacktrash's base (you can find it by following the train tracks - the stations are labeled) has a bunch of free stuff! you can also ping Luka. He has some kind of insane amount of early-game materials stockpiled, so you shouldn't need to grind for iron bars if you don't feel like it. Other than that, make sure to build your base a respectful distance from your neighbors, and have fun!
While moving and rebuilding my base I learned that I have a serious iron shortage because I kept turning it all into steel. Anybody got some spare iron lying around? I've been having a devil of a time finding much of it.
